Solendrad Desert



Although literally meaning "beneath sun,", this strange desert is not to be compared to others. Unlike most "deserts", which bake in the sun of the day and freeze during the night, this barren wasteland rarely reaches a temperature above freezing. Ripped apart by intense winds carrying dust and powdered snow from the icelands to the west, the sun shines through very little most times, and even then is blocked by the towering peaks of Solentine's mountain range in the northeast. With little civilization or hunting, vicious and strange animals reside here and roam freely--humans are just as easy a meal as any other prey here. It is a treacherous journey, but can be made with the right equipment and skill. For some, this is much preferred over the various other even more dangerous routes from west to east.
