2005-06-22 [Adnama]: What you should look for? :o Well, Wacom tablets seem to be the best and I've had one for about four years and it still works well. :3 As for computer programs, it's really up to the person using it. Once you get your tablet, go download some trial versions of different programs to see which ones suit you the best. Some names to look for would be: Photoshop, Painter, Adobe Illustrator, CG Illustrator deleter, Paint Shop Pro, Open Canvas. Those are some of the ones I know. I know Painter is extremely expensive though and I wish I could get a hold of the program myself. *sniffle* ;-; It's supposed to be godly. But anyhoo, try that out and experiment a bit. ^_^

2005-06-22 [Adnama]: Paint Shop Pro and CG Illust are what I use. :3 I use CG Illust for most everything though. Photoshop is much too complicated for me to learn to use. I like doing things from scratch and all the special jank on that program gets in the way. X3

2005-06-22 [Paz]: lol, I draw everything from scratch then either use markers or coloured pencils to colour it in, or just leave it as is. Photoshop is confusing as you said. All I can do is make things neon XP. Although I have Photoshop Elements and not the full photoshop, which is equally confusing anyway. I only use the paintbrush, occasional filter, blur tool, and paint bucket for small things. Other than that I just kill my art T.T My issue with these products is their cost.

2005-06-22 [Adnama]: Ah. CG Illust runs around $60, Paint Shop Pro is about $100, Photoshop is about $400-500, and Painter is in the upper hundreds or maybe in the thousands. x_x Those are the only prices I know. Open Canvas is much like GC Illustrator, so it shouldn't be much more than that.

2005-06-25 [Adnama]: Easier to use than any other program I've ever come across. ;3 However, it doesn't have fancy filters and stuff. It has a few drawbacks, but they're not major, and are easily overshadowed by the program's awsomeness. :3

2005-07-01 [Paz]: Photoshop costs a lot more than that! If I remember correctly from what Adnama said, it costs at least $600. CG Illustrator costs $57 dollars plus $7 for shipping (at least on the website where I got it). Ask Adnama, which is the best to get I have yet to recieve mine and she's very good at her colouring skills :3

2005-07-01 [Adnama]: The only thing that I can think of that Adobe makes that's $60 might be Elements or maybe Adobe Illustrator. I don't know much about either program though. :x However, I can tell you that you won't have to redownload art program software when you upload your tablet software. The software that comes with the tablet is just the drivers for the hardware, so it has nothing to do with the program you use the tablet with. The tablet should work on all programs in the same fashion. :3

2005-07-06 [Adnama]: Well, I can't recommend programs that I don't like too much, so I'd have to recommend CG Illustrator. Paint Shop Pro (PSP) is weird because when you draw freehand, the lines are choppy and not smooth. I've found that Photoshop (PS) does the same thing. CG Illust however has very smooth lines, an excellent blur feature, and is extremely easy to use for people of all skill levels. PSP and PS are really for the more advanced digital artist, PS the most though. I only use PSP for text, resizing, cropping, a few filters, and internet formatting, but I use CG Illust for everything else.

2005-07-12 [Adnama]: It turned out to be fine for the kitty. ^_^ The details are in my diary. -- And as for the layers. If I scan a drawing on white paper and want to use my pencil lines, I make the drawing my top layer and make it into a multiply layer. Then I make standard layers underneath to color on. Try it out. X3 It may not make much sense the way I told you, but just do it like I said and you'll see that it works. If you want to do a completely digital piece, I always make an outline sketch as my top standard layer and use other standard layers beneath it to color. The addition layers add lightness and the subtraction layers take the complementary color of the color you're using to make a shadow.

2005-07-14 [Paz]: okay, thanks. Sorry about all these questions (Paz is so confused! She doesn't mean to annoy!) It's just you know so much about the program and I can't do much with it. Just one last thing.. (don't hurt me!) How do you get the effects in the way you colour?? I mean not the layering but how do you create the effects you use in the colouring process.

2005-07-14 [Adnama]: Well, my personal shortcuts and effects are a bit hard to explain, but I can give you a tip to help you out a lot. :3 You see the little box with "Preserve transparency" next to it? If you click that, anything that you drew on the current layer will be locked and you'll only be able to color on what you drew on that layer before you locked it. It helps for when you want to color in like... the skin on a character and don't want to worry about going outside the lines. If you color it all in and lock it, then you'll be able to color without worring about being so precise. But to get some other effects, I play with the size of the tools and play with the opacity of layers.

2005-07-14 [Adnama]: I don't usually use the watercolor brush, but I use the other four for everything. And if you double click on the white square that shows the size of the brush when you use the air brush, you can select different types of points so it can be thinner, thicker, etc. I usually save lots of different brush sizes on each tool for easy access, because you have five places to save a brush on each tool, so they might as well be used. :3

That is the text feature. :3 Just make a new layer, click where you want the text to go, a window should pop up to where you can type what you want. Then click on font in that window, pick your font, font size, bold, italics, etc. and when you've got what you want, hit the Ok's and then you're done. :3 Putting it on a seperate layer leaves it able to be moved around.

2005-07-24 [Adnama]: Effects? o_o In CG Illust, you don't get any text effects. :x You can make the text, lock the layer, and just color the text, but other than that, there are no text effects. I do all my text stuff in Paint Shop Pro. :o -- As for making transparent images, I'm not clear on how to do that myself. Look in the links section of Elftown Graphics for instructions on how to do it. I think I remember seeing something like that there. :3

Guys wore long ties and baggy long sleeved shirts, and the ladies wore bonnets, dresses with baggy sleeves. Now that was a disaster waiting to happen since the clothing easily got caught in the equipment, especially men's ties, and usually resulted in death or being maimed. So it became manditory for only the managers to wear ties since they never went near the machines. And the tie today symbolizes a person who doesn't get their hands dirty or do manual labor. x3

2005-08-10 [Paz]: You should try some of the manga companies like Tokyopop. They publish almost anything. Or some comicbook companies, if you're going for the comic side of things. It's not that hard really to come up with a plot. Believe me I've had to come up with quite a few ;) Just come up with an overall general plot which makes up your basic story background and build up the characters and settings around the plot. You can also add side stories that have really no point but can throw in some comical effect ^-^
