Stephen King: Bag of Bones review

Stephen King's novel tells a story of Mike Noonan, a quite good author who suffers from a severe writer's block after the death of his wife. After several nightmares about their summer house, he decides to go to there and confront his fears. Suddenly, the urge and capability to write comes back. But is it really from his own mind or is there something else giving him the ideas?

During his visit Mike meets young girl Kyra and her mother Mattie after saving Kyra walking in the middle of the road. They form a friendly relationship - a bit too friendly by the opinion of the townspeople who are scared of a local bigshot, Max Devore, who wants to take his granddaughter Kyra away from her mother.
At the same time Mike realises there's something wrong in the town and has been for decades.

The protagonist Mike is the narrator of the story, but somehow it flows forward so naturally that you don't even stop to question his judgment on seeing or hearing things. You just keep on reading with shivers going down your spine.

King never fails to scare me. Once again this is a freaky tale about past trying to get even with the involved people - or their relatives.

I recommend this to everyone who enjoys a bit of horror fiction every now and then. And of course to all the King fans out there.
