STORIES FROM THE COURT
Up the airy mountain,
Down the rushing glen,
We daren't go a-hunting
For fear of little men.
The Fairies - William Allingham
This is the place where anyone who wishes can post what they think is happening in the land of the fey. It will of course be much easier once the actual characters are uploaded to the web, but I just thought I should save the space in the meantime.
So, until we get the 85 pregenerated people here, make your own. Make intrigues! Make jokes or whatnot! Just fill this empty space already!
Eventually, much of the function of this page will be picked up by
Current Affairs
The air was crisp and clear, with a blue sky overhead, as it always was in the grove of All Days Dreaming. A lovely young girl was quietly trying to put the moves on the young gentleman accompanying her on the lovely picnic, and sadly she was having no success. Perhaps it was best, if he was really too thick to understand her gentle innuendos about "Getting down and dirty in the grass".
It was at that moment that a gigantic eagle swooped past their heads at breakneck speed, throwing them to the ground. The frantic flying phenomenon was accompanied by a frenzied giggling laughter as the eagle once again zoomed away into the sky.
At that moment the rider noticed something emerging from the trees a short way off, and dived once again. As soon as the bird was close enough he jumped off, rolling as he landed and springing to his feet.
"So, you're having fun Daerian?" the dark figure asked in a slightly amused voice.
"You saw?" the rider answered. "It was so GREAT!" He seemed extremely enthusiastic, and had a wild grin plastered across his face, and he removed his goggles as they talked further.
"I have some interesting news for you." The dark figure loaded the word "news" with the same amount of undertones that others usually reserve for the word "trouble". He was beginning to grin too.
"Ah. Are you by any chance talking about news that will be, let us say,
amusing?" Once again, the way the last word was said seemed to imply quite a bit more than the word itself.
"Indeed, I suspect that we can upset, oh, perhaps an entire house with this little stunt I have planned. You wouldn't by any chance be interested in playing along, would you?" The glint in his eye was equal parts malice and glee, and his grin could easily remind any observer of a hungry beast.
"Why, I thought you would never ask!" the rider said, and clapped his hands not unlike a seal waiting for a favorite trick.
"It gets better."
"Oh? Do tell, dear brother. You know I hate it when you keep secrets."
"It involves the twins."
The Faery Feast By [Lankin]
And in those distant woods they walked
the shining ones with souls of flame,
and with voices sweet as rivers talked,
under the moon till at last they came
to that place most ancient upon the earth
amid the standing stone told of in song
where the Queen of Stars had given birth
there to dance upon the hill all night long.
Mortals came and were entranced
by sound of fairy song and light,
they joined in ring and danced and danced
until the moon above so bright
had vaxed and vaned three times more,
and lolling limply was mortal head,
their sorry legs all bloody and sore,
they had danced until they all were dead.
It ended then, the Faery Feast,
the guests in glory unfurled,
their joy killed a dozen men at least
and then they returned to their world.
