The Ginger Friend

Everyone knows the classic Christmas cookie, the gingerbread man. He (or she) never fails to put on a smile, even through crumbly times. Young kids, to some of the most famous people of the world, have been known to enjoy the little man. He’s certainly one of the sweetest and friendliest snacks available to market today!

In the thirteenth century gingerbread was originally called gingerbras. In Old French, it means ‘preserved ginger’. Eventually, a century later, changed to gingerbread after direction that it be made with bread crumbs. The first gingerbread man is given credit to the court of Queen Elizabeth I. She favored certain guests and made gingerbread men similar to the looks of the guests.

These cookies became known to be easily made on cheap ingredients and was popular in households during the Victorian era (especially during Christmas). Today, gingerbread men still have that warming smile and that gingerly taste hardly no one could resist. It’s still an easy recipe and fun to make with the younger kids of the family.
