Lomien crept along the edges of a village he was familiar with. The place was like a fortress, but Lomien was troubled. Usually he was hailed by a sentry, but the town was quiet. Lomien decided to lead Nin to the fortress like Manor that he had dug into the side of a nearby hill long ago. The place was guarded by loyal custodians. Inside was palacial, and well lit by candles. Lomien turned to Nin "Well love, does this suit you for a nice stay?" he asked her, coming up behind her and holding her waist, resting his head on her shoulder. Lomien was troubled, he sensed a harsh disturbance in the area, and was glad he had still not unblocked Nin's abilities...he wanted to be sure that she wouldn't be hurt or weakened before he did so.
"It is just fine." Nin forced a little smile, "What is wrong my love?" She asked, reaching up to brush his cheek with her long white fingers, she could sense his unease.
"I'm glad i forgot to unblock your ablitlities love...that's all" he said smiling at her, kissing her. Lomien barked an order in a long forgotten tongue, an out came a custodian..mat
ierialising seemingly out of no where behind Nin with a sudden rasp an clank of metal.
Nin jumped a little, not having sensed the custodian before it materialized.
"Ech narl neinle nac tool nothar da na loom ect tell no ry" Lomien said to the custodian "Biel ne teen" was the reply as the wraith vanished off to do what he had been told to do.
Nin watched and listened to the exchange, "Would you teach me that language sometime?" She asked him, "And could you unblock my abilities, you know that I've come to rely on that sense, I get rather jumpy without it." She smiled up at him.
Lomien hesitated, he was not sure what the scout would bring back, but he knew it wouldn't be good. He did however relent, knowing he had little right to keep her blind "You rely to much on your abilities Nin..an yet they are so unrefined" he said with a slight laugh. Lomien reached out into her mind, carefully releasing the mental block he had put up, making sure that her mind was undamaged.
"Unrefined?" Nin asked with a small smile, "Simply because it helps to keep me on my guard, and because there are certain things that I refuse to do?" She meant it as fun, but her eyes faded into a far away look, then she shuddered. She knew what she was capable of, and she didn't like some of it.
"I can read your mind remember?" he teased "Your not weak, that's not what i meant Nin. I know you are quite powerful..probably more so than i am if you tapped your ability, it's just you are very vulnerable....even with your barriers"
"I know," Nin said softly, "and I have tapped into some of the vastness of my ability, I can feel it there, I know what I am capable of...I just wish it weren't so destructive."
"All abilities are potentialy harmful, the elemental one's are all cautastrophic when at their peak. It is a gift as much as it is a curse......" his voice trailed off, if she where reading his mind, scenes from the fiery desctruction that had engulffed a long forgotten portion of the island....a part that was now shrouded in myth.
"What are you remembering?" Nin asked him, placing her hand gently on the side of his face.
Instead of telling her, Lomien reached down touching her forhead with his hand and letting her read his mind.
Nin stood still, her face was emotionless, but Lomien would be able to see the pain in her eyes; pain for the suffering of those in his memory, and pain for his pain.
Lomien, realising she was now in pain because of what she was seeing through him. Lomien blocked what she was seeing Love, i can stop this now if it is to much for you...this happened nearly a thousand years before you where born.... he spoke through her mind, his voice soft almost soothing as he awaited her answer. "Well at the very least you now have access to the long forgotten lore of this land....i lived through alot of it" he said with a luagh.
Nin smiled a little sadly up at him, "The world is full of pain love, I know this, I will not help anyone to hide from it." She spoke softly, hardly above a whisper.
"I want to protect you from as much of it as i can though....you are fragile Nin. As much as you don't want to admit it love, one thing amoung many that has not changed is the fragility of your mind" he said kissing her "So do you want me to continue showing you what i was, i can explain it to you afterwards"
Nin nodded silently, and looked up into his eyes, ready for what he would show her.
The place Lomien showed her, was where he was born. A quaint village dominated by a palacial manor on a seaside port. All was cheary, Lomien an his childhood sweet heart Avarin, could be seen playing with him as a child, and their friendship was obviously a close one before Ullari was born. Once Ullari was born Avarin was slain by raiders, and Lomien descended into darkness. At this time, a secound raid from human pirates killed his parents leaving Lomien to raise Ullari when Ullari was all of ten years old. Soon after that a grim darkness came over that part, the forest that surrounded the town became dark. The end came when a legion dark creatures attacked the town, razing it to the ground. Lomien came to dwell in Ecthelion, where soon after he secured a house for he an Ullari. Then he met his secound love Nienor. At this time he also began whaching Ninquelote as a young child. Nienor dies in a shipwreck, and Lomien and Ullari began their probing of the dark woods. A grim differance could be seen in Ullari after their visit, both in appearance and in attitude, soon afterwards he starts the dark brotherhood and meets Nin. After meeting Nin, Ullari realises now that he is torn, he is attracted to his brothers young charge, but he also knows that she poses a unique power that when used in conjuncture with a dark ritual can bring the incanter a power unimaginable. Nin however becomes engaged to Lomien. A devasted Ullari demands that Lomien hand over Gurthang, a sword Lomien took from him because he realised that Ullari had ill intentions to use the blade. Upon being refused, Ullari began the war that has been going on ever since. Withdrawing his hand from her forehead, and holding her "This my love is the brief history of my entire life" he said kissing her.
Nin returned his kiss, then looked up into Lomien's eyes, tears threatening in her own, "And now, my love, I understand better who you are. But that," She choked, "that is why Ullari wanted me?" she bowed her head, "What happened to him Lomien? What happened to change him so?"
"Because he wanted to surpass everyone, he wanted to be the best that there was. He made a pact with one of the cults in the in the dark wood...that pact involved you...i am familiar with the ritual...though only from what i have read on it....to be honest Nin, i married you at first to protect you..so that i had a reason to defend you if he tried to take you by force. He did love you Nin..." Lomien's voice trailed off as he held her tight. "That right there on the table is the book that Ullari gained from the woods" he gestured to an ornate book emblazoned with an eight pointed star centered over an all seeing eye. Lomien walked over to the book, glancing over its' cover, reminiscing of the imense power that it offered, though the most powerful required the torture an sacrifice of others. Lomien had studied the book, and to an extent seen if some of the magiks could be attained without sacrifice. He shuddered at the thought of what that coven had done....and that he was mad enough to go after and try to wipe them out, for they did not take kindly to having their book stolen as without it they are impotent.
Nin shuddered and held on to him tightly as she listened to him speak, "What were they?" She asked him, her voice barely above a whisper, "What were the ones who lead our brother down this path?"
"You speak of him as if he where your brother...though i suppose that can be expecter...you grew up with him, and he was the closest one you had to a brother" he said distantly "What they are....i'm not sure, they are sages of sorts...elfen, true Dark elves...the likes of which make Ullari's act look like child's play. Fortunately they are few in number...at least then" his voice trailed off. Lomien broke from her warm embrace, venturing into the room where the book sat perched atop its' marble table.
Nin trailed after him, wrapping her arms about herself.
Lomien entered the room, the entire place weighed heavy from the darkness that permeated the atmosphere. The room was festooned with relics of the dark arts, all of which Lomien had acquired in his efforts to learn more about the enemy. However his search had not left him untainted, and it showed. Though he flinched alittle, it was clear that he was not at all unacustomed to such things. Lomien stopped himself, knowing that such a room was dangerous for her to venture, he returned to Nin "My love...what's wrong?" he said earnestly to her.
"What is all of this?" Nin asked him, "I can feel the darkness in this room, it's so strange, none of it even has a spirit."
"That is because they are all tainted, tainted by sorcery...some of this is thousands of years old. It is all linked to the power of Deamons. The coven uses pacts with deamonic forces to harness and weild power. Some of what they can use is dark beyound description.....such as what Ullari whanted..." his voice trailed off.
Nin shuddered, "What did Ulari plan to use me for Lomien? I want to know." She said softly, fearfully even.
"In that book, there is a spell...a spell that when cast successfully will grant the weilder absolute control over all elements and planes. But to do so required the use of somone with untapped psychic power...the ritual would then involve the victim being defiled in every way by first the caster, then a Deamon prince of each element, binding the victim through incantations to each of the elements. This then coalesces into all of the power centering in the victims heart. The caster then is required to eat the heart of the victim after carving the required symbols and wards on the still living victim" he said, his voice shaking "When i heard Nin....that is why i asked so suddenly. I wanted to claim you as my own, so Ullari couldn't, and that i would have reason for denying you to him" he stood at a distance waiting for her reaction.
Ninquelote grew pail as he spoke, "That is what he planed for me?" She whispered almost inaudibly, "That is the end he had in mind for one he claimed to love? I trusted him." Her knees were so weak she could hardly stand.
"That would be the humane course for casting that spell. The more powerful one....the one that would have allowed him to control over any elemental within a given range...and would force the victim to endure it over the course of a few years daily" he said quietly. His back was turned towards the leering sunset, his mind troubled. He turned to see her face pail.
As Lomien turned to face her, her knees gave out, "Who could do such a thing?" she whispered, down on her knees, "When did he become such a monster? I trusted him..." She echoed.
Lomien, slightly startled by her reaction, caught her up in his arms as she fell "Now you know why i wouldn't ket him near you" he said carrying her, setting her down on a large bed. Lomien sat beside her stroking her hair "He became that monster when the sages gave him a vision as to what he could gain through that power.....i didn't know what it was at first until i was made all to privy to his dark ideas....he wanted me to bring you to him, it was then that i told him i would not" he said, whaching her.
Nin sat on the bed and wrapped her arms about Lomien as he stroked her hair, "Now I know." she agreed softly.
"Now you know what my love?" he asked her gently, his senses where heighened by all the energy in the house...it was tuned to his energies, and it amplified them greatly. Lomien caressed her head, weaving his powers inside her mind, she could feel them, but it would feel like a cool, chilling, and refreshing sensation. He was trying to keep her mind intact, he could sense that she was overwhelmed and he was doing his best to calm her. Lomien picked her up in his arms, stoking her arms an back.
Nin laughed a little bitterly, "Now I know everything, why Ullari wanted me so badly, what made him what he is now, why everything turned out the way it did." She was slowly calming down thanks to Lomien.
"Which is why i would not let you alone with him....no matter your protest" he said softly to her. Lomien could hear every thought that passed into her head, and she could likewise hear his. Lomien's thoughts wandered into the dark wood...realm of the Dark elves. Forgetting that Nin could see his thoughts, he began thinking of how he might go about finding the ancient Coven.
"I shall follow you." Nin said, looking him in the eye.
"Nin" he said letting out an exasperated sigh, cradling her slender form in his arms "If you react like this now...what will it be like when we find the Coven? I think you've had enough of this for the Night love" he said curling up next to her "I want you to be safe Nin, and the farther away from the coven the better..don't you think?" he said kissing her forehead.
Nin let him cradle her, "I will be alright." She assured him, kissing his cheek in return, "I am stronger than you think, it is only some of the memories that get to me. I have my barriers, and I have not yet found one who could break through them." She smiled a little, caressing his face.
Lomien, content that she was safe and happy, dozed off.
Nin smiled at him, but couldn't sleep herself, the evil in the room pressed in on her, and made her uneasy.
A massive black form materialised out of the wall, speaking somthing in a dark an foriegn tongue. Lomien seemned stirr alittle, then shot up as he understood what the scout was saying. He was glad that no one could see his facial expression...it was one of abject horror...for it was to dark to see much of anything.
Nin looked toward the Wraith, having sensed it before it even materialized, "What is wrong?" She asked, suddenly alert as Lomien sat up, tensed.
Lomien turned to her "Stay here my love, i will be back soon" he said kissing her cheek. Lomien got up, not even doning his armour as he walked to the door.
"What is happening?" Nin asked, standing to follow him.
"I need you to stay here Nin...the coven responsible for this mess..its' leaders are on the outskirts of the walled town..and i'm going to look into it. You will stay here though Nin, i won't risk you being taken love" he said softly yet firmly.
Nin started to protest, she wanted to go with him, she wanted to stand by his side, but she saw the concern in his eyes, she bowed her head, "I shall stay." She said softly.
Lomien sped from the house, reaching the entrance to the gates he sensed a trap. He stood warily at the doors of the silent town. What caught his breath was seeing the bodies of victims ribcages splayed open like a flower petal, and arranged in an eight pointed star. Stifling a cry he turned to run to the house, realising that the danger was already there.Meanwhile at the house, Four dark robbed figures, any signature blocked like the rest of the custodes...except these where dark elves. One, the cabal leader came up behind Nin "Well well, we find you at last" he said icily, with his powers he froze hers, as he circled about her with a cruel smile. His well armoured, magic sheilded form gave off the dark aura that had permeated the house.
Nin stiffened as she heard the voice behind her, she spun around and attempted to lash at him with her power, but found that she could not. "What do you want with me?" She asked coldly, her eyes glowing white as she struggled against his hold on her with all the strength that she dared.
"Mmm mmm, my my your power makes you such a tasty treat" he said with a smile "You see, your power so perfectly harnessed makes you an ideal delacacy for a little ritual we would like to preform.....one that i'm sorry to say, will leave you as little more than a defiled an worthless husk" his voice was cruel as he spoke "Now then...let us begin, or do you have any last words before your body as you know it is completly destroyed"
Ninquelote didn't let the Dark Elf see her fear, he held her head up and glared defiantly into his eyes, "Indeed I do, fallen one." She said, a note of danger in her voice, "Whatever you do to me, twilight's son will hunt you down, he will haunt your path wherever you go, you shall not escape him, not until he has had his revenge." This she said with confidence, she knew it to be true, and she didn't expect her attempt to escape to succeed. No sooner had the words left her lips than she, in one swift motion, drew the dagger that she had bound to her leg, and attempted to plunge it into the Elf's heart.
Catching her arm with a wicked smile "Who says that there will be anything left of you to trace this to us?" With that he threw her to the ground. Taking out four long silver spears, he pierced each of her limb, not through the bones, but through the flesh. They entered the ground with a sickening squelch. Producing a cruel cot-o-nine tails he raised the nasty whip high, bringing it down upon her. The shards of metal and glass tearing into her clothes an flesh on her body. Dark elves where known to delight in torturing their victims, and this one was no different.
Nin hit the ground hard, and cried out as the spears pierced her flesh, and then again as she felt the bite of the whip. She could feel the blood running down her back, and she no longer fought against the Elf's hold on her for the pain muddled her concentration. Lomien, She called out with both her mind and voice, Lomien please hurry.
Lomien slipped through the shadows of the Manor, flinching as he heard Nin cry out, and the wip beating against her. Slipping into the house he crept closer to where they where at.The cabal leader, smiled at her crys "Now my little play thing...the rod" with that he took a long, thick cane swatting her hard with it..enjoying every moment of it, though it would soon be time to begin.
Nin bit down on her lip until it bled to keep from crying out, her hands were balled into fists, her fingernails cutting into the palms of her hands. She soon began to weaken from the loss of blood Lomien, I love you. She whispered within her mind, hoping that wherever he was, he head her.
The darkness came over Lomien finally embraced his darker side. Lomien's eyes shown a purpl blue, glowing as the entire room filled with shadow. The cabal leader, stopped his torture, looking up realizing somthing was wrong "Who are you to disturb me in my pleasure?" he cooed, trying to tap the new power that was there.Lomien answered by all of the Cabal attendants save the leader colapsed dead, bleeding out all over the floor. The leader drew his sword, which shone an incandescent orange asking who he was again."My name is Son of Twilight master if doom" was his gutteral reply. Unleashing a final psychic attack Lomien staggered to his knees. The Kabal leader, screamed in pain as he felt his mind dissolve. The husk of the leader collapsed dead, next to his former victim.
Nin gasped as her mind was released, and all the sensations that came with her connection to the spiritual realm came flooding back, along with the last echoes of the Cabal leader's screams. "Who is there?" She asked weakly, unable to recognize Lomien between the dark aura that not hung about him, and the pain that addled her sences.
Lomien, carried her to a couch, collapsing next to her "It's ok my love...it's me" he said, exhausted from his work, and trying to surpress again his darker side. He tended her wounds, before lying next to her again.
Nin cried out as Lomien picked her up, any movement sent searing pain through her whole body. She huddled against him, shuddering.
Lomien, carefully drew her in tighter to keep her warm. Snow began descending outside. With both back an front doors broken down, the house had a chill to it "Love..what happened, are you okay?" he asked her, nezzling her head slightly with his. To spare her any further pain, Lomien dulled her sense of pain to nonexistant, and began stroking her head quietly.
The pain ceased to assault her body, but she continued to shudder, and clung to Lomien. "They came out of nowhere," She whispered weakly, "he suppressed my powers, he must have been ancient, I had no chance of breaking free." She shuddered again.
Lomien held onto her "To think...that i almost failed you to" a silent tear slid down the side of his cheek. "The village....is no more" he said calmly, holding her close to him as the cold increased. "He was ancient...one of the original members with whom Ullari made a pact with"
Nin was too much in shock to understand much of what Lomien said, she just sat there, silently clinging to him.
"Shh, rest my love. You should be free of all this Nin" he said pulling her closer to him. Lomien caused her to fall asleep, a cool, calm wave swept through her mind as he sought to quiet her. Lomien kissed her full on the lips, caressing her head with one hand, he could feel her franctic heart beat They will pay dearly for this he thought, his eyes smouldering as he whached in anguish as she shuddered an clung to him "I'm here Nin, i'm not leaving you....not anytime soon my love"
Nin looked up at him as sleep took her, she felt the calming wave and her shuddering and her heartbeat eased.
A distant howl could be heard in the distance, and this time it was Lomien who let out a slight shudder I hate wherewolves he thought to himself knowing that where there where wolves....there may also be Vamps. Lomien quietly slid out from under Nin, placing her in the bedroom and locking the door. Taking her up in his arms again he eyed the balcony, hoping the devils didn't feel like getting burned.
Nin stirred, but did not wake, though she still clung tight to him.
A massive canine head came crashing through the glass doors, the hideous body right behind it. Lomien glared at the huge werewolf. The beast sprang for him, only to fall to the floor with a loud crash and yelp of pain. Two vampires shot out, deciding that they didn't want the same fate. Neither of which where fast enough. Both fell crashing into various pieces of furniture screaming in agony as they died.
Nin woke, startled by the sound, and began to sit up until a wave of dizziness hit her.
"Easy Nin" he said holding her. The massive head sat leering at her. "You should rest Nin...you've been through alot" he said gently rubbing her shoulders. Lomien cleared the dizziness from her mind however so she could at least think an talk coherantly.
"I thought I would never see you again." Nin whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his chest.
Lomien looked down at her, slightly confused by what she said "What do you mean love?" he asked softly, running his fingers through her hair.
"When the Dark Elf had me, I couldn't fight him, I couldn't reach out to find you, I though I would never see you again." Silent tears rolled down her cheeks.
Lomien said nothing, holding her tight. She had echoed the very thoughts that had torn through his mind when he realised what had happened at the town. "I'm here my love, it's ok you're safe" he said softly to her.
Nin cowered against him, holding tight, not wanting to let go.
Lomien raged internally, inscensed at what had been done to her. He could feel the tears in her skin, places where her clothes hung in rags, he strove with her inner turmoil, seeking to ease her pain "What is going through your mind love" he asked, he knew he could read it if he wanted to but it was nothing compared to hearing it spoken. Lomien's scouts where reporting their findings, a werewolf legion had invaded the country side but was stopped in it's tracks by the combined efforts of a vampire coven an Minotuar legion. Reports of the Dark elf coven also began coming in, all of this was telepathic, as Lomien wanted no one to disturb him or especially Nin. He began gently stroking her body, trying to calm her convoluted mind.
"I don't ever want to feel that fear again, I don't ever want to think that it is the end, and not know if you are alright. I love you Lomien, I don't ever want to loose you." Her voice was still weak, and slightly muffled as she kept her face burried in his chest.
Lomien was glad her head was buried in his chest...his eyes where glowing..an incandesent purple. He had at last embraced who he was, unlocked the immense power well that had long lain dormat, and now in his rage he had unbottled it, discarding any thoughts of ever bottling it up again. Two tatoos etched themselve on his arm, these also glowed an erie purple....and for this he was glad he had worn a long sleeve shirt. "You won't lose me Nin" he said softly, holding her close to him, keeping her head buried in his chest so that she could not see the change, though the glow was gone he was sure she would precieve the slight yet noticable change in his voice.
Ninquelote looked up at him, noticing the change, "What is it love?" She asked quietly.
"It's nothing" he said, moving out from under her, placing her curled up amoungst an array of pillows. Arising slowly he threw the bodies out over the balcony. Standing in the middle of the room, he contemplated going back into the sorcery room....there was much that he wanted to know still.
Nin watched him from where she lay, still too weak to move around, "There's something different, what is it?" She persisted weakly.
"Different...how so? what do you mean?" he asked. Lomiens eyes had a faint purple glow around the edges, that in the full moon could only barely be made out.
"There's just something different about you, and your eyes are glowing." She may have still been weak, but her sences were no longer muddled, thanks to Lomien's easing her pain.
"It is a darker side....a grim side effect of my combined element set, that when i fully tap it, allows me to use my power on any level....it comes at a price though, it drains and wears on me...makes life harder to live with such a curse..." his voice trailed off. Lomien walked over to the large bed, flopping down an curling up on it.
"Then don't give into it." Nin whispered, "Is the power truly worth what it might do to you?"
Lomien began wretching, the immense power build that his anger an wrath had fueled. Standing up, blood running from his eyes, nose and ears, walking to the balcony. With a roar fire and psychic energy shot forth from him. Having let out his burst, he fell over backwards, as he struggled to stay awake.
"Lomien!" Nin struggled to rise and go to him, but she was still too weak, she merely fell off the couch, to the floor. As he struggled to stay awake, his attempts to ease her pain faltered and she cried out as it returned.
Her falling to the floor snapped him out of it. Struggling to his feat, his mind all but spent in his release. He picked her up gently setting her down on the small couch. Turning to head back to the bed he froze as he heard a distant howl, then relaxed again as he heard the distance grow.
"Lomien," She whispered weakly, "is it truly worth what it may do to you, what you may become?"
"No it is not Nin...it is already a part of me though..." he said softly "Where do you want to sleep to night love? is your couch enough for you?" he asked her, not wanting her to be anymore pain than was unavoidable.
"It doesn't have to be." Nin whispered, "I want to be close to you." She said quietly, bowing her head.
"I was born with this Nin....it's what led to the destruction of my birth home...it's what Ullari was born with an we all know what a fine pickle he's put the world in" he said alittl bitterly. Lomien gently picked her up, laying her down, trying to avoid the holes in her arms and legs "Oh Nin what have i done to you" he said pulling her closer, resting his head just above hers.
"But it doesn't have to rule you," She whispered, wrapping her arms around him, "you can control it, I know that you can."
"I can, and i will love" he said wrapping his arms around her slender form "What is going through your mind love?" he asked her. In truth Lomien had begun his dabbling in the dark arts in order to find a way to bind or eliminate his dark side....though the methods disturbed him.
"I wish we could go back to the way we were, when it was the three of us, the best of friends..The world seemed so simple then." Nin sighed, she knew that it was no good to wish for what could not be.
"I know my love...things where never that simple..they where only so because we where determined both to let you blosom..we fought when you weren't around. I can still remember the confused look you gave me when i said he could not attend our wedding" he spoke softly in her ear, kissing the nape of her neck.
"Before Ullari was changed though, we were best of friends, it was always the three of us." She smiled sadly at the memories.
Gently sliding his arm under her head, playing with her hair "He was always strong willed Nin, even as a child it was often all i could do to contain him....when he made that pact with the Dark elves..that is who he really is" he whispered softly into her ear, kissing her cheek.
Nin closed her eyes and a tear slid down her cheek. "I do miss him Lomien, I know what he has become, and I hate it, but I cannot help but mourn for who he was."
"I know Nin....i know" he said as his voice trailed off. The hair on Lomien's neck stood on end, as a lone howl filled the night..then a sickening secound...and a third....his only comfort was that they where still far off and where hopefully turning northward.
The back of Nin's neck prickled, she looked up a Lomien, hoping that the creatures would continue to travel away from them.
A foul odor permeated the room, followed by a sharp howl at the closed door. Lomien glared at the door "Is one moments piece to much to ask?" he snarled at the door, very glad he had barricaded the dark room...and chiding himself for not doing so to the bed room. Raising an outstreched hand weakly, lightning coalesced on his hands, ready to smite the wolf when it entered. Lomien was over exherting himself, but he was not about to let Nin be taken so long as he had the power to keep her safe. The veins in his arms bulged, as he began to sweat blood. Blood also came fresh from his eyes. With a scream of pain he destroyed the wolves on the other side of the door, before colapsing..shivering uncontrolably, blood oozing from his mouth, eyes and ears.
Nin watched, tears in her eyes, as he collapsed. She was too weak to do any more than hold his head and wipe the blood from his face. "Please my love, please stay awake." She whispered, fresh tears clouding her vision, "Please stay with me Lomien. I don't want to loose you." She sobbed, kissing his eyelid and then his lips.
"I....I...I..I, i over extened myself Nin...that's all" he said. Lomien was to weak to move now, his body needed rest, he was already very close to obliterating himself, and would do so if he used his powers at the moment "Nin...where are you Nin" he asked his voice a murmer, his vision was clouded because he was so weak. He shuddered still, the blood had stopped though. His body began reovering itself, but he still could not see.
"I'm here Lomien," She whispered in his ear, "I'm right here my love, rest now." She caressed his cheek and wiped more of the remaining blood from the corners of his mouth and eyes. She made herself relax, and wrapped her arms around him.
Feeling a familiar set of arms, as his vision returned to him "Oh Nin...why must you endure so much" he said wrapping his arms around her. Lomien slid off into a deep sleep, eventualy snoring...somthing he was not at all known for doing. His body was healing itself, as he slept soundly knowing she was safe for the time being.
Nin watched him sleep. When she was confident that he was alright she allowed herself to fall asleep.
Next day:
Lomien's eyes fluttered open, seeing that it was near noon, yet the air was chilled, snow covering the ground and entrance from the balcony. Seeing Nin curled up against him, he gave a start inwardly as he felt the blood run down his eyes an out of his nose and ears. It was drying, but it still startled him that so much had come out.
Nin stirred and opened her eyes, looking up at him as he sat up.
Propping himself up against the headboard, he stared off over the balcony. His senses where so muddled at the moment that he thought Nin was still asleep. He could niether barelly hear with his ears and with his mind not well at all.
Nin slowly sat up, a mild wave of dizziness washed over her and she leaned against Lomien. "How are you love?" She whispered.
"I think i'm fine...most of my senses are still in slight over load right now, but they are recovering rather well" he said with a smile, dried blood looking like bloody tears hung down over his face. Lomien's battle scared back had multiple splocthes of blood where it had burst through during his struggle.
"Good." She said softly, closing her eyes as she leaned against Lomien, "I was so frightened last night."
"What got you so bad?" he asked, looking for somthing to divert his attention from the numbing pain that wracked his body.
"Seeing you collapse like that, I could see that you were so weak, you could not even move, I was afraid I would loose you." A single tear slid from beneath her eyelid.
"You wouldn't have lost me, even if my body had been destroyed i would have lived on after a fashion...as a wraith" he shuddered at the thought. His mind and body where repairing themselves rappidly. He outstreched his hand, lightning arcing from finger tip to finger tip. He felt a slight strain, but even this vanished have i at last freed myself...in coming to near death an living have i freed myself from the limitations? best not push it he thought. The veins in his arms showed alittle, then died down...somthing not seen ever in one who has overexerted himself as much as he.
"It would never be the same." She whispered, curling up against him.
"I know...i think though that i may have broken free of the limitations....though i'm not sure, nor am i in the mood or posistion of strengh to test myself" he said glancing at his arm as the lightning arced white, tracing up his arm then back down to his fingers as if it had a mind of it's own i feel no strain, yet somthing like this usualy takes an immense amount of focus an energy to do without putting strain on my mind...and even then it never works he thought.
Nin opened her eyes to look up at him, but found herself staring at the lightening as it traced up and down his arm. "Don't overexert yourself, love." She whispered.
"It's not even tapping my powers Nin...that's the strange thing about it....i control it completely yet it bears no consiquence to my psyche" he said softly to her. Lomien looked out the window, seeing a large procession of Centuars approaching the Manor "It would appear that we have guests" he said softly to her "you might want to change love" he said poking her side through a hole in her dress. The centuars numbered roughly two hundred, a convoy of sorts though most of them where armed. They had with them several wagons with wood elves heading back to their home land.
Nin stared at him, confused by what he said about his power, it had to be draining his energy, that was how these things worked...Wasn't it? She looked up through the window, "I packed a white dress in that bag there." she said nodding to her bag in the corner, "Do you have the strength to get it? I still get dizzy when I move around."
"Yeah i do..." he said in a questioning voice, his body moved as if it hadn't been under the stress that it had been. Walking over he retrieved her dress, setting it down in front of her "This is strange...by all rights i should still be near death yet i feel like nothing has happened" he said, slightly amused and not at all sure what to think.
Nin looked up at him, she was just as confused as he was.
A large figure loomned in the shattered door way. The Centuar cheiftain, bowed to Lomien "Welcome son of twilight, i hear you are heading to the wood elven realm. You may ride with us if you like" The chieftain was well armoured, a huge broad sword slung over his back, and flexable plating covering his back. Lomien turned in slight surprise to see an old friend "Very well then Arantar, we shall ride with you old friend. It is good to see you again alive" he bowed to the chieftain.
Nin nodded deeply to the Centuar from where she sat. Nin stood and laying her hand on whatever she could for support, she carefully went into the other room and changed. When she returned, she sat back down on the bed wearing the long white dress. She sat there silently a moment, waiting or the dizziness to pass.
Noticing that she was still dizzy turned to the chieftain "Arantar do you have a wagon for her to travel in...she's been through alot recently and i would prefer if she could at least rest while we travel" he asked. "We have several in fact my lord, as we are taking a group of wood elves back to their home"
Nin smiled up appreciatively at the two of them.
Lomien set her in the middle wagon of the convoy, finding a chestnut stallion, he decided that he would ride bare back. The group continued from the manor to The Forests of Telpurion
Nin let Lomien carry her, grateful that she wouldn't have to ride, but uncomfortable in the wagon as it jostled off to The Forests of Telpurion.
