The laziest notes page for WoW - Thaddeus Potts. I'll make it nicer and in-character... at some point.

The journal Tetra had handed Thaddeus seemed ancient, the leather-bound cover was cracked and smelled of moss, the pages were yellowish and felt thin and fragile in his fingers. Inside the book, the pages seemed to be covered in lists of all kinds. Soon enough it became obvious why the girl had been unable to read it. This was written in old Daguerrian from before the Winter. The words were flourished and joined and broke apart in unfamiliar places. Thaddeus had seen it plenty though, in ancient documents and writings. When one studied in the Royal school and looked at the history of Engineering, as well as Literature and poetry from before the war, running into Old Daguerrian was a given. The contents did not seem particularly ground-breaking though, each page had a date up top, starting from the 6th of June of 1519, over 100 years ago.

This seemed to be a ledger of some sort, used for record keeping, it seemed to keep track of the production and supplies of a 'Leeds Coal Mine', recording the coal that was produced and taken out, its value, and how much was spent supplying the workers of the mine over a period of time. Supplies and food seemed to have come, as was usually the case, from Ordon, which was a large farming city back then. These kinds of ancient books were usually kept deep in the royal libraries, cared for more out of tradition than anything else. Why someone would want to care now how many sacks of grain were shipped to some mine 100 years ago was beyond Thaddeus, as was the way the girl had gotten the ledger.

Thaddeus quickly flicked through the pages of the notebook. The ledger was pretty much full, only the last few pages were empty. Soon, however, he noticed something odd. The numbers seemed to be off. The production of the coal mine was written down as massive, so there must have been a lot of workers in the mine. The stuff that was brought into the mine corresponded to the idea of a lot of workers. Tons of food, wood, stone and other materials were carried into the Leeds Coal Mine for the workers.... but no mining tools... no carts... What's more, looking closer, the income from the coal was pretty high, but some months it was a higher when less coal had actually been produced, and viceversa. Finally, it seems they had forgotten to detract the price of supplies from the money the mine was producing by selling coal. The name of the mine also vexed Thaddeus. He had heard it before and it was like a drum going off constantly in his head.

Thaddeus knew he had heard the name Leeds somewhere. The Leeds were an ancient noble which counted among the founding members of the Royal School of Engineering. He remembered seeing a painting of an Alastor Leeds in the hall of Rectors at the Royal School. Past that, he really did not know much about them, or even if Rector Alastor Leeds was related to this Leeds mine at all.
