The Almost Moon; Alice Sebold review
In this book, Helen makes a violent choice to murder her mother. In the next 24 hours we are met with flashbacks from her childhood, her present actions, and a lot of confusion. :/
In theory, this would be a decent book. The basic plot is interesting (abusive mother is finally overcome by daughter who realizes she's grown dependent on her mother's craziness, etc) but it isn't executed very well. I've also read Sebold's
The Lovely Bones, which was a much better novel. This was quite a disappointment
, comparatively.
Overall, I would not suggest reading this book. It's short and has some decent prose, but in all it isn't worth the time.
