“Does anyone know why s flock of Salmation Bats where spotted on 23st. last night at 3 a.m.?” Just then
Nessa came in carrying a few files, a Greasy Spoon Cafe` coffee cup and a box of danish. She then promptly tripped over Boris’ feet. “ACK!“ She was forced to pick her files off the floor. “I thought we agreed you’d scoot back in your cubical before you take a nap?“
“In my day we didn’t worry about the migrations of bats.“
Boris said as he scooted back out of her way. He had indeed been snoozing with his feet hanging out of his cubical. “IN my day--“
“Warriors where warriors Yes Boris I know.“
Nessa said sifting threw her files again. “Did you schedule this? It was Friday night! Half the city thought they where hallucinating! How am I supposed to spin this?” .
“Bird Flu.” Boris said snuggling back down in his chair again.
There was a chuckling from the adjacent cubicle and
Lakutos wheeled himself into view. "Why does it matter anyway?" He blinked his large golden-yellow eyes at Nessa and tilted his head to the side. "If the people of this Veil cannot understand the bats, then let them assume they were hallucinating. Why do we need to spin it?" He yawned dramatically, favoring Boris' attitude greatly. He had thuroughly enjoyed the tales that the large portly man had told every night before falling asleep in that old cubicle.
"It's our job."
Nessa told Lakutos. "We are responsible for the-- Ahh forget it." She flopped down in her own cubical chair. "There isnt anything to do! I would kill for a--" Just then there was a crackling over the crystal ball in the center of the conference area. "Is that... is that the ball?" She asked standing up trying to peer over her wall.
Lakutos stood up to see for himself, even though his ears had already confirmed it. "Looks like it." He told her with a smirk, sitting back down. Answering the ball wasn't his domain.
Boris hefted himself up with a groan, left his cubical and entered Lakutos'. He took the back of his chair and wheeled him out of the small box office "Come, we must answer it together. How often does it chime? We can talk about it during Lunch."
Nessa Followed them to the conference area "Has anyone seen Theo? He should be here by now."
"One would think as boring as it has been lately someone would find the time to answer the ball." A monitone raspy voice said.
The Oracle had appeared out of no where, dressed in her usual little black dress, a red bow in her hair and her dolly nesteled under her arm.
"Sorry O."
Nessa said and waved her hand over the ball. A blue etherial whisp emerged from her fingertips and circeled the glowing globe.
The Oracle Stood there, speaking for the magical contraption so no one would have to put forth the effort to decern the code. "An unliscenced being of moderate intelegence has passed between an uncharted Veil and into this one. Suspect should be considered dangerous. The suspect is to be brought to Covenant Headquarters and detained until further instruction."
"Where do we find the suspect?"
Boris asked. His eyes where bright with the prospect of an interesting confrentation.
"
"23rd st.." The Oracle replied in her usual droning tone.
"I'll get the van." Lakutos said "HOw often do we get to use it?" He left for parts elsewhere to retrieve the vehicle.
"I think I should be excited." Nessa said "BUt so long without any sort of activity? IS anyone else worried?"
"No." The Oracle replied and vanished from the room.
"Come Miskah." Boris said placing his hand on Nessa's shoulder. "This should prove interesting."
"So we're not going to wait for Theo." Nessa said "What else is new?"
Boris and Nessa met Lakutos behind the building. Armed with glamors to conceal their image the three of them left to track down their newest suspect.23rd St.
The sun had just barely lifted off of the horizon and everything was still tinted orange. The destination street wasn't busy with cars since everyone was already at work by now. Everything seems normal until one notices that their is a young girl with dirty brown and red hair sitting on top of a street light. She appears to be roughly 11 years of age yet she seemed comfortable on her perch. The child was crouched on the thin pole with her toes curled around the edges. She was wearing nothing but a small top made of possible animal fur and a leaf-like bottom. Around her shoulder was a brown purse-like sack that seemed full of something.
across the street and several blocks away an outdated navy blue van parked. Inside waited the members of the Covenant Veil Inforcement team. Their odd appearances disguised as a family. Nessa and Boris appeared as husband and wife while Lakutos looked like a fourteen year old boy.
"There she is." Nessa said pointing the girl out. "I'll drop a fog over us and see if I can't attach a containment spell to it. Hopefully we can keep her contained in the street till we get her into custody." She closed her eyes and made odd hand gestures. Blue smoke and letters strung themselves in the air from her fingertips while she muttered incantations and magic words.
The girl's cat-like pupils scanned the area. Her chest rose and fell quickly as she hyperventilated. The girl had obviously been on the move for quite a while. When she spotted the park a street down, she leapt backwards and hit her bare feet onto the brick building and pushed herself off down onto a car. When the car alarm went off, she practically catapulted away from it and booked it for the park.
"Damn, she's on the move." Nessa anounced but Lakutos was already on the ball. The van was screaming down the street after the girl. Nessa, in the back seat began speaking more incantations and waving her arms about in a magical manner. They passed threw the park gates just intime for a dense fog to fall behind them, cloaking them and preventing anyone else from entering the park while they delt with the girl.
"Squirely thing isn't she?" Boris said as he got out of the van. He opened the back door to let Nessa out and his wolfhound Niko bounded out behind him. Just incase Boris took his belt from the back and strapped his hammer and sickle to his hips. Niko wagged his tail and bounded around him happily, excatic that there was finaly something to do.
Lakutos put the van in park and grabbed his rapier from the back. He strapped it on and walked behind Boris. "Any idea what we are dealing with, Boris? I barely caught a glimpse of her."
The young criminal, Diji ran until she couldn't and hid behind a thick tree stump. Her legs and arms closed into her body as she panted for air. Her tail curled around her feet and she shut her eyes.
Lakutos kept his rapier sheathed and took a look around, patting Boris on the shoulder softly. His eyes and ears scanned the area quickly. Using his enhanced senses, he could hear the small child breathing nearby. He couldn't see her, but he could nearly pinpoint her exact location from hearing her alone. He signaled to Nessa and Boris and vanished from sight as he camouflaged himself for the approach
Boris closed the van door and gave a quick hand signal to Niko who sauntered off at an angel towards the trees. A hunting dog by nature he would try to drive the girl towards them
Just as Boris closed the van door a streak of black lept from inside with a "MRooW!" Talisman, Nessa's trade mark black cat landed perfectly atop her shoulder. She perched atop Nessa as if throngs of egyptian priests where bowing to her grateness. Cats, unlike wolfhounds where perfect conductors of magical energy. With Talisman's help nessa's power could grow nearly two fold. Nessa whispered in Talisman's ear. The cat gave her a look as if she was beneath her order but jumped down as neatly as a drop of water. Tail high she trotted towards the center of the trees several yards ahead.
Diji's pointed ears perked a little as she heard the rustling of brush from the animal heading her way. She grabbed a handmade sling shot from her sack and picked up a stone off the ground. Diji placed the rock into the cloth off the slingshot and pulled back.
Lakutos' hand stretched out and grabbed a hold of Diji's sling shot. He released his camouflage and smirked. "I wouldn't do that, if I were you." He told her as he snatched the sling shot away. "Who're you and just what are you doing here?" He asked her quickly.
Diji let out a little yelp from this beast that had just attacked her. She instantly let go of the sling shot out of shock. There was the look of fear in her eyes for sure. Diji turned around and ran the other way.
To the left of the girl's position Niko apeared from the trees. He let out an ear deafening bark in order to keep the girl from entering the brush where he was. Boris appeared on the other side of the clearing, opposite his beloved Niko. He stood there, imposing in his large form. Their glamors had fallen once they'd entered the park.
Talisman kept watch from the grass. If the girl escaped it was her job to locate her and distract her til the others could find them. Nessa reinforced her containment spells and caused it to shrink around their location. With the girl in the open it would be easier to trap her.
Lakutos walked calmly toward the little girl. He bent down so that he was closer to eye level with her. He smiled softly and stretched out his hand. "You're a pretty fast one, aren't you?"
Diji was getting quite nervous and scared with all of the figures closing in on her. She jumped a bit from the barking beast and shuffled backwards as Lakutos approached her. Unfortunately her foot caught the uplifted root form a tree and she fell right on her butt. The little girl's hair was matted and her olive skin was dirty. Her knees were scrapped and bleeding a little from the concrete that she had just met earlier. Her tail stayed low to the ground as she hurried back to her feet, yet she remained crouched low. It was clear that she was scared, yet she showed her fangs at the man. It was the only defense she had right now. She jumped forwards with all the courage she had and bit Lakutos's hand hard.
"ANIFAUQA!!!" Nessa shouted and aimed her staff at the girl. A streak of blue magic zipped and crackled like lightening and smacked the cirl in the center of the back. The spell suddenly enveloped the girl and encased her in what appeared to be a large bubble of water.
Diji immediately arched her back backwards when hit and released the bite. She grabbed her throat as she realized that she was in a bubble of water. Her feet and tail flailed rapidly around. She tried to scratch at the sides of the bubble to get out.
Nessa approached quickly and placed her hands on the side of the bubbel. She spoke loudly and clearly into the orb. "CALM DOWN! JUST BREATH SLOWLY! YOU WILL BE OK!" She over emphasized as just incase the girl didn;t get it she might understand by demonstration. She took deep breaths in and out to show the girl that it was safe inside the orb. She turned to the others and replied "That will hold her till we get back to headquarters. She's fine, she won't drown."
Diji was terrified, but managed to catch what Nessa's movements. She slowed and hesitantly took in a little 'air'. It wasn't normal air, but she wasn't drowning. She still tried to use her claws on her toes and fingers to scratch away the bubble, yet no use. She started digging in her sack.
Nessa Looked at the girl and noticed the state of her clothes and knees. "While she's in there..." she muttered another spell and waved her hands over the orb. Blue mist permitted the bubble and swirled around the girl. She turned to the others with a smile. "She's clean now."
Lakutos jerked his hand away as soon as the girl was forced to deal with the spell to the back. He hissed and spoke curses in his native tongue.
"Let me see." Boris said reaching for Lakutos. "Ahh ya big baby, you'll be fine."
Diji huddled up into a ball and wrapped her tail around her legs when she found nothing in her sack as of use. Her body floated and rotated around freely, yet she kept her submissive, pout ball. She opened her mouth a little and muttered a sound, testing to see if she could speak in this bubble.
Boris saw the little girl and his face hardened. "We should get her back to headquarters." He made to move the orb but it didn't budge.
"Oh, right." Nessa raised her staff and the orb levitated. She reapplied the glamors they had had before and the orb turned into a baby carage. She directed the orb baby carriage glamor to the van where she loaded it into the back.
Half an hour later the van, Covenant Officers and wild child had returned to headquarters where they hoped Theo might have shown up for his shift. An extra hand at dealing with this new bundle of activity and work would be beneficial.
Nessa, Lakutos, and Boris returned with familiars in tow and stowed the girl in the only containment cell they had. A run of the mill jail cell. Nessa dispersed the containment bubble.
Theo was curled up asleep on the jail cell cot and was unpleasantly moved when the girl replaced him. Grumpy and with frazzled white hair, he rubbed his bum and asked, "Who is this, then? When did this become a bleedin' daycare center?"
Lakutos rubbed his hand softly, mumbling as he walked over to Theo. "The moment that scrawny whelp took a chunk out of my hand." He barred his teeth and winced slightly as his fingers found tender skin.
Theo laughed. "Sucks for you, mate," He patted Lakutos on the shoulder roughly. "So who is the little blighter?" He asked, leaning his hands on his knees and peering through the bars at the girl. "She tears a hole in Lakutos' hide, she must be worth something."
Diji sat on her butt in the cell. Her tail curled around her legs. She looked up at Theo and stuck her tongue out. How dare he try and sell her!? Her body shivered a little from the cold floor on her flesh. She was used to warm soil and dirt.
Lakutos growled softly at Theo's apparent amusement to his discomfort. It took all he had to not simply slug the unicorn. Over their years of involvement through the Coven, he had come to acknowledge Theo as a friend and confidant(sp?). "I'm going to go and get this wrapped. If she tells you anything, feel free to inform me." He turned and walked off. He kept a small first aid kit in his cubicle, though he couldn't remember the last time he had actually used the damn thing.
"Oy, I'm only fuckin with ya, old man! Ey, Lakutos, c'mere," Theo said, grabbing him by the wrist roughly. He spit in his palm and murmured something, rubbing it into his wound. Within minutes it had healed completely. He winked at him and stuck out his long pink tongue back at Diji. "I wonder if she's hungry?" He asked. "What do freaky little girls eat, anyway?"
Diji's pointed ears perked at the word 'eat'. She knew that talking only gets you into more trouble, but it was getting harder to put up with her stomach. She mumbled a little, pouting and looking the other way as if she were too good for these people. Diji would do almost anything for fruit right now.
"Ohohoho!" Theo laughed harshly. "What was that, little freak? D'you want sommat yummy to eat?" He grinned widely, enjoying himself.
Diji winced a little and got to her feet instantly. The fact that talking gets you in trouble circled in her head, but this guy was an ass. She stamped her feet to the bars of the cage angrily. Crossing her arms, Diji nodded to the question.
Theo's grin got wider, and he came closer to the cage, foolishly letting his horn slip between the bars. "What do you wanna eat, freaky girl? What do you like, eh?"
Diji, though a little nervous, kept her pose and brought her head closer. "Apples." She reached out of the bars and yanked his ear buds towards her. She thought it was a necklace of some sort and it would smack his head against the bars, but it failed.
"Ey! EY!" Theo yelled, alarmed as he saw his earbuds yanked from his neck, the plug coming loose and dangling from her hand. He stretched out his arm between the bars, "That's not yours! That's mine! Givvit back!"
Diji stepped back and looked at him with a proud smile, "Apples." Her attention went back to the earplugs. She examined the strange devise and brought the earbud part to her nose. After sniffing, she moved it down to her mouth and tapped the end with her tongue. She jerked her eyes open and winced part of her face as she had the taste of earwax on her tongue.
Theo's face was a mask of indignation and rage. He snorted and stomped. "Ye little brat!" He stretched his arm through the bars, waving it and trying to grab hold of the little girl, but to no avail. He paced, wagging his long finger at her menacingly as he grumbled to himself. "Damn you," He sneered, leaving for the briefest moment, coming back with a bag of fresh red apples.
HR>
Lakutos rubbed his hand softly. He hated the fact that Theo had to spit on him to heal his wound. It was revolting. He smirked when he saw the bag of apples. "From your lunchbox, horse?" He snided as he leaned against the nearby wall.
Nessa watched and felt sorry for the girl. But she understood that Theo would never get his head phones back if there wasn't a fair trade. "Give Theo back his buds and you can have the apples."
Diji went to the wall of bars and slid her arm through for an apple. It was an innocent and fairly stupid idea, but Diji hadn't eaten well in a few days. She kept the ear buds in her other hand, out of reach.
"Stole 'em from your muvver, fish-boy," Theo spat back. He pulled out a shiny red apple. "Y'want it, eh? Eh? Gimme my earbuds back, y'little brat, and ye cn' have it." He held it just out of her reach, pushing his arm through the bars to snatch at the earbuds in her hand.
Diji did as he requested and handed him the earbuds. She was naive and figured he would do the same with the apple.
Theo flinched, thinking she had some trickery up her sleeve. When he realized she'd given him the earbuds, the ass side of him wanted to keep the apple to himself, but his noble nature as a unicorn kept him in line. He dropped the red apple in her outstretched hand and grumbled as he threaded his earbuds back through his wifebeater.
Diji immediately brought her hand in and devoured the apple quickly. When she got to the pit, she took out a tiny bottle from her sack and put the seeds into it. Before anyone could comment, she was at the bars again, holding out an open hand for another apple.
Theo eyed her warily as she scarfed down the apple and asked for another. He pulled one out and tossed it up and down in one hand. "Another apple for yer name," he proposed.
With both hands on the bars as her head bobbed with the apple. She yanked at the cold steel and set her head between them and looked down. She was defeated by her own hunger. She then looked up at him, "Diji...."
Theo shot a grin and a wink at Nessa. This was working nicely. He tossed her the apple; she seemed to go through them quickly enough to ask a question an apple.
Just as before, Diji ate the apple quickly and did the same with the seeds. But then it occurred to her that perhaps they were trying to fatten her up? Still, if they wanted to eat her, they would've done it already.
Lakutos growled to Theo. "I am not a fish, Theo. I happen to be reptilian." The unicorn had a natural ability to press his buttons real quick...
"Oh aye," Theo replied, "You are if I'm a horse." That was a quick way to get on his bad side. He was not merely a horse with a horn.
Diji kept her eyes on Theo, he seemed a little more 'fiesty' then the other ones did. "Can you let me go now?" she asked, griping the bars with both hands. She was so small she could slip through on her own. "Please?" She smiled a very adorable smile that only one could do under the age of 11. Her eyes almost seemed to get bigger as well.
"He's a lizard, your a horse, I'm a insect. We have our label-..." Nessa just noticed that Diji spoke. "Oh... um... we can't let you go. I'm sorry but you have to stay here until we are told what to do with you. You don't have a traveling permit and we were obligated to arrest you. Normally we'd just send you back to your Veil but we have to do what the Crystal Ball tells us to do so you have to stay here. But the good news is is that we'll take care of you. You can have all the appels and fruit you want so long as you behave. If your good we can let you out of here. Understand?"
Diji listened and was half confused. "It's not like I chose to come here! I was hunting giant bats and suddenly I was in this rock place." Diji didn't know of concrete or asphalt, she knew it only as stone. "Unless....oh no!" she sat down and grabbed her head, "I'm dead!"
"Oh no no no!"Nessa said kneeling down to Diji's level. "You're not dead, I promise! You just have to stay here until we are told what to do with you. Do you know what Veil your from? Maybe we can contact your parents?"
"What what I'm from?" Diji asked, tilting her head. She rustled her leaf dress a little, letting the dead leaves fall. They needed to be in the sunlight preferably. Diji looked at the gap between the bars and stuck her leg through and tried to weave her hips between them.
Lakutos stepped forward and pushed Diji back inside the cage. "She said, IF you're good, we'll let you out." He crossed his arms and looked sternly at her. "So get back in there shrimp!"
"If I don't behave, she'll just put me in a bubble again." Diji grumbled, "Can't he just talk to me? He's nice to me." she pointed to Theo quickly. "So dreamy too..." she commented. It was similar to how a young girl would idolize a boy band member.
Theo's wide eyes blinked hard and he cleared his throat uncomfortably, sounding like a whicker. "Erm, well, of course. Nawe look, wot land are you from? What village, or clan, or herd, or whatever a beastie like you grows up in?"
"I'm from the Meeke clan. We live in an endless jungle." Diji said, smiling brightly at Theo, her tail wagging a little from side to side. She seemed to be the most responsive to Theo then anyone else. "We live in huts erm...there is a river that runs through it and down to a waterfall on the east side. The other way is the Wanopee ruins. Oh, but I didn't tell you that. Mom doesn't like me going over there. You won't tell her, will you?"
Lakutos rolled his eyes. How she could find Theo 'dreamy' was beyond him. The man looked like a real mixed up sort of creature. He shook his head and shrugged. "Whatever, I'm going to go get coffee. Anybody want some?"
Diji raised her hand.
Theo sneered in disgust, his ears drawn backward at the very mention of coffee. "How you can stand that nasty black stuff is beyond me, especially how you drink it."
Lakutos looked at Theo curiously and tilted his head to the side. "Whatever is wrong with the way I drink my coffee? It's better than that liquid grass stuff you drink."
While the two boys bickered, Nessa had unlocked the cell and said, "You can come on out. We might not be able to find out where you're from, but we're not gonna keep you in here. Besides, with all the protective charms around this place, I doubt you could escape if you wanted to. But please, try not to break anything." She smiled and then added, "I'll see if I can't find you a place to sleep."
"Thank you, Lady...urm Lady." Diji then shook her head about the coffee, "Nevermind. I don't like that nasty black stuff either." She trotted next to Theo and stood at his side with her hands behind her back. Diji smiled and looked up at him, as if expecting something.
"It's tea, you pissant," Theo snarled, baring sharp teeth at Lakutos. "And--" He trailed off, looking down at Diji, his hands coming together away from her. "Wot do you want, then?" The bag of apples was on the other side of him.
Diji kept her eyes on him and brought up her hand slowly and waved it, "Hi." Bringing her hand down, she blinked brightly, "What's your name?"
He stared down at her, his wide, mottled pink-blue eyes flicking from her to the bag of apples and back. "Theo," he said, "Theo Maltine. Donchuwanna apple?" He said, pulling one out and handing it to her hoping that would make her go away.
Diji took the apple and blushed a little bit and slipped it into her sack quickly. She immediately locked her bright blue eyes on him again and smiled. "What do those things do?" she asked, pointing to the headphones.
Theo blanched. She wasn't going away. His fingers touched the earbuds nervously, and he got an idea. "They play music," He said, pulling them out of his shirt. "Look," He tucked the earbuds into her ears and turned up his mp3 player, playing the most atonal song Primus had to offer and blasting it in her ears.
Lakutos returned with a hot cup of coffee, sipping it softly, simply watching Theo and Diji's interactions. He supposed it was quite cute really. He had read alot about humans, since he was spending so much time on Earth, one might as well get associated with the people there. Most girls Diji's age were fascinated with horses and unicorns and the like, according to the articles. It was only natural that she be the same way with Theo.
Diji's eyes opened wide and her jaw relaxed, parting her lips a little. She was still looking at Theo, but more so staring through him at this point. The muffled sound of the music could be vaguely heard by the others. Her eyes moved down slowly, still caught in an oblivious stare to the floor. After a little bit, she snapped out of it and found the source of the cord. The mp3 player was hooked to his belt. She put her hands on it and knelt down, staring at the lit up screen.
Theo shifted uncomfortably. There was an 11-year old kneeling and fondling something on his belt. This was not where he wanted to be. He took off the mp3 player from his belt and held it at eye level for her, moving his pelvis about four feet to the left.
Getting up, Diji pressed a button to another song. She jumped a little when it changed. She enjoyed waiting until the light faded, only to hit it again and watch it light up. "THIS IS AMAZING! CAN I HAVE IT?" she shouted loudly up at Theo, not realizing how loud she really was.
Again, not the reaction Theo was looking for. He took the thing from her, stroking the touch pad to turn it down. "No, it's mine! Lower yer damn voice, will ye?"
Diji had a frown for a moment and shrugged her shoulders and turned the other way, "Fine." Unsudspectedly, she whipped around and snatched the player and booked it to the other side of the room and down into the hallway. She didn't mean any harm at all, that was clear from her laughter. But she was an 11 year old with a crush, and a hell of a fast one at that.
"Ey-wot--OY!" Theo stuttered, running after her with that odd loping gait of his. "STOP THAT! YEW COM BACK HERE!" He shouted after her, reaching out his arms to grab her.
Lakutos walked over to Nessa and nodded softly. He sipped his coffee lightly. "So just what are we going to do with the little one?" He asked her curiously. He wasn't really one for babysitting.
Nessa shruged and began walking in the direction Diji and Teo had run. She couldn't escape and doubted she could figure out how to break the MP3 player before Theo and his horse like stamina could stop her. "I don't know." She admitted "BUt considering the hours we work there should always be someone here to keep an eye on her. I hope the ball tells us soon. She's going to have us running our heads off."
"Well isn't that a shame?" Lakutos offered with a grin. He had no intention whatsoever of being the one to watch and chase after that little demon child. He took another sip of his coffee and gave a little yawn. "Well, I don't know about you, Nessa, but I believe we should leave Theo with the first watch. Since he's already chasing her, the rest of us should go and get some rest."
"Rest up from what?" Nessa asked. "We chased a girl threw the park. We've had nothing to do but minor traffic stops for months. Finaly something interesting has happened! This is against protocol. What if her being here means something?"
Theo returned, Diji seated on his shoulder listening to his music and a deep scowl on his face. "Found 'er," he said bluntly, lowering his shoulder so that she slipped off onto the couch.
Diji slipped off and bounced on the couch a little when she hit. Her eyes were glued to the lit up screen. One could hear the foul music blaring from the earbuds wedged in her pointed ears. Yawning a little, she leaned back on the fluffy couch.
Nessa lifted her staff and in a puff of blue smoke a blanket appeared and drifted over the jungle girl. "She seems smitten with you Theo."
Theo laughed harshly. "Poh' girl." He walked away with his hands behind his head. "I'll break 'er 'eart in the end," He called, laughing, and headed to the kitchen.
When the blanket went over her shoulders, Diji let out an award-winning yawn and slowly laid down on the couch. Still blaring death metal into her young eardrums, she slowly closed her eyes, eventually falling asleep to it. Her tail curled around and open again until she was completely knocked out. Her body was curled up in a little ball with the blanket.
Nessa Leaned down and looked at the little girl. "She is cute isn't she?" She moved a strand of hair away from the girl's face."
"She's annoying." The Oracle said apearing on the other side of the couch. Her dolly had the same dark, stoic expression. "She'll kill us all."
"Why ruin the end for us Mishka?" Boris said apearing out of no where as he often did. Niko was at his side and he was sipping a cup of coffee. "This is why we stopped having movie night."
"You will see." The Oracle said darkly. "Then I will say that I told you so."
with a "Mrow?" Talisman jumped up to the back of the couch. She looked at the girl and driped down next to her. She curled up atop the blanket with her and yawned. Nessa smiled for a moment then it turned into a frown. "All we have to do is wait for thye ball to tell us what to do with her."
Diji was fast asleep and didn't flinch at all from the cat that rested on her hip.
Lakutos set the empty coffee cup down on a nearby table and walked over to the group, trying to keep it quiet as to not awaken the little one. "And if the ball tells us nothing, what then?"
"Then she must stay here." The oracle said blankly. "The ball is absolute, as are my visions."
"I think it'd be nice having a little one around." Boris said. Niko wagged his tail excitedly his tongue hung out of his mouth and he appeared to be smiling. "Considering how dull it has been these last few months. Or should I say years? She will keep us on our toes."
"Good excuse to catch up on your cardio," Theo said to Boris around an apple. He leaned against the doorway, chewing away at his snack.
"Wonderful." Lakutos said with a drawl. He sighed and walked back to his cubicle. "Well if that's all we were going to be doing this evening, I think I may retire to my apartment."
