The Emerald District

The Emerald District has the same architectural design as the rest of the city, but with an Elven flare. This is district was dedicated to the large population of Elves that had found themselves drawn out of the forests and woods and into the bustling city. It was really a small Elven town that resided inside a much larger city, as it had its own markets, inns/taverns, stables, etc. While the owners and residents of the district were all Elvish, that did not mean that individuals of the other races were turned away. The downside to this was it allowed anti-elf dissidents into the area who would then vandalize property with graffiti or just the old fashioned rock through a window.

Lai'or led Yalala into the district and looked around with a sense of pride. "Isn't it just beautiful?" he asked, gesturing at the largely prevalent plant life.

Yalala, unlike most elves distinctly lacked imagination. She saw the intricate scrawl-work on the awnings and pillars and just saw awnings and pillars. It did feel more homey to her than any other city or district she'd been in on her travels. Still, she was not as inspired as Lai'or, who she couldn't help but feel suspicious about considering his name sounded so much like "lair".

The Ambassador didn't seem to notice that Yalala hadn't answered him and instead continued down the walkway till they stopped infront of a large and lavish looking Inn. It had a sign hanging above the door with a very detailed carving of a willow tree. "This is it." He said, opening his arms to indicate the entire building.

Yalala dismounted Rutger and did not make to tie him to the hitching post.

Lai'or held the door open for her to enter the establishment.

Stepping up to the porch Rutger followed Yalala as Lai'or opened the door for her.

Inside the lodge was amazing. Giving off the look and feel of a prestigious hunting lodge as the wall were lined with animal heads and trophies of various size and species. The wood of the building and the furniture was a faint red and looked as if they had been grown into the shapes they were in.

Meanwhile a small puddle of drool was growing between Rutger's paws as he panted. Yalala was still unimpressed, but it was hard to impress someone who lacked imagination.

Lai'or was about to say something to her before he noticed the puddle of drool from the dog, "Hm. While they don't mind if a person brings pets in with them, you might want to do something about the drooling." as he said this he waved a person over to clean the current puddle.

"Dry it up Rutger." Yalala told the dog. "At least till we leave here." Rutger slurped his tongue in his mouth and looked a bit disgruntled.

"There, that's better." Lai'or said as he started off again and stopped at the bar. "I need a room please, long term tenant." He said and was handed the key to a room. He then turned and handed it to Yalala. "Here you go Madam, the room number is on the key and on the door. Go ahead and get some rest and I will come for you in the morning."

If I'm still here in the morning. she thought, taking the key. "Come on Rutger." She told him and headed for the stairs. She had it in her mind that it might just be worth it to grab a few hours of sleep and slip out in the early morning.

"And don't worry about any anti-Elf attacks Madam." The Ambassador called after her, "I will have my personal guards watching over the Lodge all night till I arrive for you."

There was an aggravated heaviness to her steps after she heard that.

He watched as she made her way up the stairs, but left shortly after. He seemed extremely happy and relieved as he left.

She reached the room and keyed the door open. It was lavish of course, but she frowned. She looked at the dog. "Dibs on the bed."

Saying the room was lavish was like saying that the castle was a decent size. It had every commodity a person could ask for and probably a few that they didn't know they could use. While the inn kept the hunting lodge appearance up, it was obvious that it was not meant for the average hunter.

Yalala lowered her gear from Rutger's back and removed his saddle. "I hate this." She grumbled, dropping the saddle on the floor. She used her fingers and scratched his back where the saddle had flattened his fur.

He rubbed his head against her shoulder in a show of sympathy as he enjoyed the scratching.

She rubbed him where the straps and packs had sat and continued complaining. "I just hate having to answer to someone." She said, pulling out a disk of the beef and offering it to her. "It's part of why I left home..."

Rutger took the beef with gratitude and listened intently to what she had to say while enjoying it.

"But..." She sighed. "I don't know... Maybe I'll find what I'm looking for or something... or one of those other cliche things they say in all the old books."

Rutger wasn't sure what this "book" thing was, but he nodded in agreement.

"Alright buddy." She said, parting from rubbing him down and began to remove her armor. She drank from the pitcher on the nightstand and climbed into bed. She'd told the dog he had the floor, but after looking at him for a moment she patted the bed and said, "Come on." Who had she been fooling? She couldn't sleep without him any way.

The dog quickly jumped from his spot on the floor onto the bed and got comfortable.

Yalala curled up with him, using him as a pillow and tried her best to fall asleep.
