The Restaurant at the End of the Universe review

Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a success. The sequel continues the journey of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Triallian and Zaphod Beeblobrox around the galaxy. This time Zaphod is trying to find out why he stole the magnificent spaceship they're travelling on as well as find the ruler of the universe, Ford and Arthur end up back on the Earth - a few million years ago, but who cares - and at some point they still have time to have a few pints in the restaurant at the end of the universe.

The plot of this book bounces everywhere even more than in the first part of the series. But the humour isn't that good anymore. One of the best scenes happens in the editorial office building of the Hitchhiker's Guide, when Marvin, the depressed robot, is facing the destroyer robot armed only with his brains.
That made me laugh out loud and that was the only time.

I can recommend this book to the fans of Adams and a good scifi parody, even though the only book you actually need to read is the first one.
