The Temple Entrance

The six were thrown down onto the forest floor in a pile, covered in leaves, twigs and pebbles.

Falling almost end over end Alicein landed in a leaf and twig littered mess at the bottom of the slope.

When Divya finally felt her body stop falling, she groaned and opened her eyes only to find herself on top of Navzal. Seeing his garb, she gasped. Divya hauled back, pulled out her gun and shouted, "Natives!" to her group. Whether they were violent cannibals or not, she didn't want to risk not having the upper hand.

The first thing Alicein's eyes focused on was the foreboding shape of a pistol. Without thinking she threw up her hands and said the first thing that came to mind "MAKE PEACE NOT WAR!" it didn't do her family very good in the forests of northern Washington but then again a pistol was different than an army of chainsaws and lumberjacks.

Steven remained as motionless as he could and kept his arms over his head, just waiting for the spears to start flying.

Navzal screamed and then just sort of moaned and whined painfully, having been crushed by some random creepy chick. He slowly pushed up with his arms, his back arching and then pulled his legs under him, too shocked, dizzy and achy to get up.

Silyen was able to keep his footing for all of 5 seconds before he rolled onto his shoulder and couldn't stop spinning. By the end his was flat on his back, his sword luckily still sheathed. He groaned as he sat up and looked around. He heard Divya yell and went to reach for his sword.

Divya's shoulder hurt like hell when she raised the gun at Navzal. Her eyelid twitched, trying to keep the pain in. Just then, something rolled along the path that the three of them had tumbled through. Her helmet came into view and smacked Divya on the head. "FUCK!" she cursed, grabbing the back of her skull with a free hand.

Somehow, Solomon had kept his balance on the fickle bitch of a slope for a split second longer than everyone else. Losing his hat on the descent, he tumbled down to a stop between Alicein and Divya. He groaned and pulled himself out of the pile of leaves, looking at the dazed woman and the man reaching for his sword and in an instant his revolver was in his hand. "Don't do anything stupid," he warned them, more aware of them than that he had fallen.

Navzal looked up at Divya and was horrified. She didn't seem completely human and she had one of those crossbow like weapons. He was trying to think up something innocent and charming to say but Divya was hit in the head and Solomon took charge. Navzal quickly struggled up and hid behind Solomon.

Silyen's hand froze but he kept it on his sword. He glared at Solomon, extremely alert and ready to attack if needed. The man had a boy and girl with him who both looked young and defenseless. He doubted Solomon wanted to pick a fight, but who knew. They guy could be an idiot.

Steven, realizing that he wasnt dead, took a peek to see what was going on. "Oh great, another person with a gun." he mumbled as he pushed himself up into a sitting position. "Everyone put your guns down. No ones gonna hurt anyone."

Alicein's hands where now extended out from her sides showing that she was defenseless. To add to the effect she made peace signs, signaling how little she wanted a violent confrontation. She didn't remembered getting to her feet and was only faintly aware of the pain blazing threw her palms and knees. If she had looked down she would have noticed she'd substantially torn the skirt her mother had bought her from a street vendor in San Francisco. Her eyes where still fastened to the gun in Divya's hand. She looked like something out of a Gene Roddenberry novel, or so Alicein would have guessed had she read any of them.

Divya could tell that these people were just more pedestrians, but she kept her gun up only because Solomon did. Looking sharply at him, she slowly lowered her gun, hoping he would do the same.

Solomon lowered his gun as Divya did. He narrowed his eyes at the three. They looked like sorry circus rejects. "Do you have any idea what island this is?" He asked.

"No clue whatsoever." Divya said plainly. It was a bit obvious that these three were in the same predicament that they were in. By now, Divya put her gun away completely. "You are the first people we've run into since we woke up here."

"Ditto." Alicein said relaxing a bit now that Divia was putting away her weapon. "Though I'm still unsure as to weather or not this is an hallucination." The stinging in her hands and knees drew her attention and as she examined her bloody palms had second thoughts about her previous statement.

Silyen's eye twitched at Alicein's comment. He too had begun doubting the reality of their situation. It was nonsensical to him, like a dream. These oddly dressed people shifting in and out of languages he new in this alien environment. Of course it didn't make sense he'd just fall asleep on the battlefield, but what if he had been injured and was laying in a bed somewhere? He let go of his sword, these recent thoughts making the weapon seem fake and useless.

"Is it human?" Navzal whispered in Solomon's ear, looking at Divya with fear and revulsion.

"Pay him no attention." Alicein told Divia as she atempted to tie the torn ends of her skirt back together "He regards all women the same way." She herself was still a bit steamed at Navzal's inherent insensitivity and despite her passivity, sort of wished he'd broken something vital when they all fell.

Divya looked at the group as a whole. Was she really in the past somehow? It was the only real explanation. Leaning over, she grabbed her helmet and stood up. "What century are you guys from?" she asked angrily. Divya swayed for a moment, still dizzy from the fall. Before Divya could put her helmet back on, she realized that her head was bleeding a bit. It had to have been when the helmet smashed into her skull only moments ago.

Solomon raised an eyebrow at Navzal, and another at Divya, holstering his gun. "Century? It's still 1961, space cadet." It was still early August, and summer was in full blast--that much he knew from the weather here.

"Wow, you're old." Steven said with a chuckle. "I'm from 2013. Yes, I'm from THE FUTURE!" he said with a very unneeded dramatic flare.

"Yeah, sure y'are, kid," Solomon said with a smirk. He picked up his hat and dusted it off, then touched his cheek. Looking at his wet finger, he looked up at the sky as another drop fell, then another--and in about thirty second's time, it was pouring rain. "Jesus!" He swore, putting on his hat quickly. Not far behind Alicein was the entrance to a cavern. "Come on!" He said, grabbing Navzal's wrist and dragging him behind him into the shelter of the dark stone overhang.

Divya quickly ran in as well, motioning to her own group. "1961 and 2013. Right... well I'm from 2510 but you guys are probably too primitive to comprehend time travel or what it even is." Feeling her head a bit more, she saw more blood. It was probably just a cut, but it was difficult to manage on one's own head.

"Why are you all shouting numbers?" Silyen asked as he hurried beside Divya, but he was sure the answer would be nonsense. Then he noticed her hand and looked at her head. "Wait, you're hurt?" he said alarmed.

Navzal swore as the rain started to pour on him and then yelped loudly as he was yanked behind Solomon. Despite his long legs he had trouble keeping up and kept stumbling over roots.

Divya lifted an unenthusiastic brow at her hand, "Seems that way. It would explain this migraine." She tilted her head down so that Silyen may see, "How's it look, blondie?" Divya asked. In this light it was difficult to properly see her injury. The cut was about 2 inches in length and directly on the top of her skull.

Steven hurried in behind them. "I just start getting dry and it starts raining. Who or what have I angered to deserve such treatment?"

"This isn't a prison," Solomon muttered, "It's a goddamn science fiction convention." He couldn't decide which was worse. He shook his hat and looked further into the cavern. He felt a slight breeze coming from inside. "Anybody got a flashlight?"

Alicein was content to be rained on for a few moments. When everyone else rushed inside she lingered, though not too long. The rain was fat and heavy and after only a few seconds her hair was completely soaked. After the ungodly heat of the volcano the cool rain was refreshing.

Silyen squinted and cocked his head, ignoring the blondie comment, which he didn't totally understand. Why was she so interested in his hair? "I can't tell. You should probably sit down though..."

Divya shrugged off Silyen's analysis and pulled out her gun. Keeping the barrel down, she tapped on a small screen at the base. A few low beeps later, a thin high beam shot out of the weapon's barrel. Adjusting something, the diameter of light expanded, filling the temple's entrance.

"Wow!" Navzal cried and then looked excitedly at Solomon, then back at Divya. "It's like your birds!" he said to Solomon, amazed at the crazy things these foreigners had invented.

Alicein was just about to make her way inside when the beam of light erupted. Instinct told her to duck so she hit the deck. "What is wrong with these people?" She asked herself, regretting getting herself tangled up in such a situation... or hallucination since she'd not yet decided if things where real.

"It's similar," Solomon replied after a long pause. The tunnel kept going inside. "Come on." He started walking into the long stony hallway.

Silyen jumped at the light then went stiff. This entire situation was just too weird. The fact that everyone seemed to be shrugging it off was even weirder. He really debated following these people into the cave. Something told him it would only lead to more trouble. However, he didn't have much of a choice. He followed Solomon, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Am I the only one that things gunfire should be prohibited for the time being?" Alicein asked getting up from the cave's floor. This was really ridiculous and she sincerely hoped none of this was real. If she had to endure these conditions with these gun happy people she didn't think she was going to last long.

...aaaand then everyone died. Fin.
