The Underdark Caverns
Mydra rolled her eyes at Lance's sarcasm. Wonderful, everyone had jokes today. As she watched Lance do his work she cocked her head to the side as the wall opened up to an archway and the archway opened up to a cave. At least the cave was wide. She let out a deep breath and nodded her head. "Yeah... lets..." She gave him a forced smile before walking past him into the cave and glancing around. She froze as she got inside as she was instantly surrounded by darkness and started to breath heavily as panic set in.
Gord got through and pulled out his sword. It started to glow in the darkness, and illuminated the cave in a sixty foot sphere around them. Theo moved in the dark it seemed a bit better than he did in the light. Lance stepped through last and the wall returned to normal as he stepped into the caveren. "Welcome back to the underdark Mydra." Lance said as he stepped in with them. "It's three days walk to dwarf city of Vulcan Hold.
Mydra turned to face away from them before they could see her face pale. She felt the bile rising up in her throat seconds later. Bracing a hand against the near by wall she leaned forward so she wouldn't get anything on her clothing as it came up. The smell was foul but she was glad she hadn't eaten anything that day so it was just liquids. When she was steady enough she opened one of her front pouches and quickly took a sip from one of the vials. It gave off a minty smell and left her breath smelling just as fresh and her stomach feeling much better. "I apologize..." She whispered still not able to face them.
"Well that was a bit unexpected." Lance said as she lost her fluids in the floor. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this Mydra, but we won't be able to take you back up top until we get this job done." Lance didn't know what was happening with Mydra, but he felt it had to do with Theo. She was down here again. With him. "Theo. Why don't you and Gord scout ahead?"
Gord nodded and Theo replied. "I'm on it." He moved quickly into the dark and hoard gave him a head start then followed. As the dark came around them Lance illuminated a copper coin with light and spoke to Mydra. "Talk to me... what's got your stomach in knots?"
Mydra ran a hand over her face as she sighed heavily. "I don't plan on running back home, Lance. It's just been a lot to deal with all in the span of 24 hours." She moved away from her vomit and leaned against the cave wall. "I learned that Theo is someone from my past who I was taught to fear. Then he gets me thrown into a jail cell which is one of my biggest fears..." She took I need a few deep breaths and shook her head. "Sovair used to lock me in a closet after beating and raping me... it brought him some type of sick pleasure... so the cell was like my own personal prison... I was terrified... when I heard-" Her voice broke as tears fell from her eyes. She shook her head as she tried to get herself under control. "When I heard Theo shouting for the guards the betrayal was so strong... I just..." She stood up, straightening her shoulders as she wiped her tears from her face, pushing down her emotions like she was always taught to do. "It doesn't matter not... it's done... lets just... forget I said anything and move on..."
Lance looked at Mydra his eyes narrowing. "Betrayed by Theodoric?" He asked in a surprised tone. "He will never turn on you..." Lance seemed a bit upset at the word betrayal. "You do realize Theo had to fight those knights alone after the guards took you away?" He let that sink in.
Mydra's bright eyes took him in, searching his eyes for an explanation. "I... I don't understand." She huffed in frustration. "Ruby said not to trust him... so then... then what happened out on the street?" She narrowed her eyes and instead of waiting for Lance to explain she stormed off down the path her eyes quickly adjusting in the darkness. "Theo..." Reaching into an inside pocket of her coat she pulled out a stone and ran her hand across it to activate it so that it would glow. "Theo..." There they were... ahead of here were Gord and Theo. Coming up behind Theo she shoved him, none too gently. "Tell me why you did it. Why!" Her eyes were full of tears again as images of the cell ran through her mind. Being confined and locked up. "Why..." She pleaded.
"Oh I'm sorry I thought you needed no explanation." Theo mouthed off before turning to face Mydra. He then turned and faced her as he realized she was pleading with him. He looked her up and down trying to get a better understanding of what the hell was going on. He then spoke up. "You mean having the guards pull you off the streets and into safety so I could get to Gord and Lance. Then breaking you out of the cell?" He didn't wait for an answer. "I couldn't fight off four expediencies spell blades and keep you from harm at the same time, and even if I couldn't have done that I would have at that point been a violation of the bounty laws of the city, witch would have been stupid to break in front of the guards. I instead decided the best answer was to have you taken by the guards so as I ran for Lance and Gord I only had to worry about not dying." Theo shrugged. "As for having to break you out after... the captain of the watch was paired off to not allow to released back to me and tried to intimidate us into leaving you behind."
Gord scoffed. "The fool thought the threat of prison time would really make us leave." The then chuckled a bit as Lance walked up slowly from behind.
Mydra couldn't help the soft sob that escaped her lips as she pounded a fist against Theo's chest. She knew it wasn't smart to poke a bear but right now she wasn't thinking, she was hurting. "I had no idea what was going on... all I kept thinking was that you'd betrayed me and that the guards were going to hand me over to Sovair." Tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared into his eyes. "I was terrified that it was all happening again."
Lance spoke before Theo. "Trust me when I say. He would have been on the way had we not removed the messenger from play." Lance had an as a matter of fact kind of tone to him. "We wouldn't have let Sovair get to you." Gord chimed in on the back end.
Theo looked down now with a better understanding of the situation now. "Mydra." Theo said taking her fist in his hand softly. "I will never let anything like that happen to you if I have the power to stop it." Theo then paused before going on. "I had no idea about the cell being so bad for you." His tone stiffened a bit, "but even if I had known you would have still gone to the guards. I know that might sound cruel but I would rather you had a few hours of discomfort than being rapped again..." Theo waited for her response.
Mydra listened as all three of them spoke around her. Theo's hand around hers caused her fist to loosen as her anger subsided listening to them. She stared up into his eyes for several moments after they stopped speaking just silent until her head nodded and she fell into him with a sob. She didn't care how weak she looked to the men in that moment. She needed a few minutes of weakness to get herself back under control as she clung to Theo for support. "I'm sorry..." She whispered through a raw throat.
"Take your time." Theo said. "You two scout ahead and find the Deep Roads." Lance and Gord nodded and moved out. As they went away Theo gently pet Mydra hair. It was okay to be weak once in a while. It was moments like this that kept people from losing them selves.
Mydra waited until the were alone before speaking, her forehead still resting against his chest. "I'm sorry... I should have never let what Lance told me cloud my judgement and then Ruby... I've always been such a good judge of character but... it's not easy when its something like that and then when everything happened like it did today." She lifted her head to stare into his eyes, her bright turquoise eyes glistening in the light of her stone. "Please forgive me..."
"It's okay Mydra-" Theo paused at Ruby's name... the little bitch... "what did Ruby tell you about me?" Theo had a concerned look on his face. He had a feeling taking her to meet Ruby would be a bad idea so soon.
"She just said not to trust you." She sniffled softly as she looked down at his hand still holding hers. She wasn't disturbed by it, the close contact brought her comfort surprisingly. She took a deep breath and shook her head gently. "It was stupid, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it but right afterwards that whole... guard thing had happened."
"Ruby told you that to try to drive a wedge between us..." Theo told her. "Prolly tipped of the Knights too." He pointed out. "She has problems seeing other women around me. She wants to marry me so she dose her best to drive wedges between me and any women In my life she sees as a threat to that dream."
Mydra sighed heavily and shook her head. "Mama always said I was never in-tuned with my magical side enough. If I was I would have been able to feel that betrayal." She licked her lips softly to wetten them. She lifted her hand that he held and placed it against his cheek as his hand slid down her wrist. "I will do everything in my power to not doubt you again..." Her eyes darted around in the dark and frowned. "Especially down here." She smiled reassuringly up at him. "Still friends? Partners? Whatever you consider us..."
"That was never in question for me." Theo said then he just had to ask though. "Your mother may be right about your magic, but Ruby could lie to the gods." Theo was only overplaying her ability a bits he had seen her trapped in a zone of truth lie to an interrogators face for over an hour. "Don't feel bad about that." He then leaned in a bit and kissed her forehead.
Mydra closed her eyes against his touch, taken by surprise at his closeness and gentleness towards her. When he pulled away she tugged gently at the scarf around his neck and smiled. "You should wear this down more often..." She trailed a gentle finger down one of his scars carefully as she stared into his eyes. "You may think they are ugly but you scars make you the man and... I think they are sort of beautiful in a way..." She blushed deeply, yanking her hand away. "Uh... sorry..." Clearing her throat she shook her head. "We should catch up with the boys..."
Theo smiled in response to both the comment and the blush. He couldn't explain why he liked it as she touched his scar. He watched her eyes, and Theo could see her feelings for a moment. He liked that. He gently touched the back of her hand as she felt his scar. "Yeah... let's."
Her stomach did a little flip flop as he touched the back of her hand, her mind going blank for a moment. He had said something to her but she didn't quite catch it. "What?" Mydra asked, her voice quiet, head kind of fuzzy as she stared up into his eyes.
Theo smiled and squeezed her hand. "The guys are waiting for us." He whispered as he gripped Mydra's hand a bit tighter. He wondered if she felt the way he did. He wanted to hold Mydra in his arms for a while... would it be so wrong?
Mydra licked her lips nervously before snapping out of it. "Oh shoot... Right..." She inhaled deeply and stood on her tip toes to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. "I'm glad we talked... thanks." She whispered in his ear, lacing her fingers with his, giving his hand a squeeze.
Theo was lost in Mydra's eyes when she snapped out of it he did as well. "Yeah." He agreed. As Mydra kissed his cheek he felt a rush of heat in his chest. "Umm. I am too." He really was. As she laced her fingers into his own he smiled.
"Come on," She tugged gently on his arm, leading the way down the trail. Mydra held out her arm that had the lit stone in it to light there way as they walked along. "Sorry about your cheek... I didn't mean to embarrass you if I did..." She whispered so her voice didn't carry as they walked.
"You didn't." Theo smiled as they walked. He had not returned his scarf. It was nice to have someone like his scars. "Are you okay down here again?" He asked.
Mydra looked over at him and shook her head. "No, Theo... it's not going to be that simple... Just... don't leave me alone and I should panic." She just hoped her dreams wouldn't return. That could get embarrassing. She had slept with her parents for months when they'd started happening. Her hand tightened around his as she recalled her vivid memories. "How likely is it that we'll run into people down here?"
"I won't leave you alone down here." Theo told her squeezing her hand in return. "People... not likely in the deep roads this time of year." Theo pointed out. "Thought any city down here will be populated." Raiding season wasn't until the winter, and the roads in this area would only be for transportation and protection. Though they could run into a trade caravan.
"Do you guys know these roads well? Or are we just... winging it?" Mydra asked as they walked along, holding tightly to his hand. Her knuckles were white by now, though the comfort of him walking beside her, eased her mind. She knew after a day or so down here she wouldn't feel quite so jumpy and her mind would be more restful but as of right now, she didn't trust herself.
"Lance has studied every map and journal on the Deep Roads and the connecting cities." Theo told her. He hopped that would make her feel a bit better about being down here. He decided to omit all his time on the roads as a slave going from arena to arena.
"Well that's good to here that our little human seems to know where he's going at least." Mydra teased as they finally came up behind their friends. She tapped Lance on the shoulder, still holding onto Theo's hand, not quite reading to let go yet, still drawing comfort from his touch.
"Feeling better now?" Lance asked with out looking up from a map being illuminated by Goards now light sword. He pointedly ignored he little human comment. As it didn't bother him to much to be called a little human. "Hmmm... are you sure that map is accurate?" Goard asked. Looking a bit confused by the old map. "No I'm not, as the Dwemer come through every ten years or so and change the stone shape to change the tunnels that lead the the surface." Lance paused again, "but considering this one we are in is on the map we're in good shape."
Theo smirked and shook his head. "Then what's the hold up?" He asked wondering why the men seemed to have stopped at a fork in the tunnels. He then looked at the map and realized it was because there was no fork on the map. "Oh... that's a problem."
Mydra nodded her head at Lance's question, smiling softly. "Thank you. Theo and I talked and we're in a much better place now." She listened to the interaction between the boys and raised her eyebrows, clearly amused. "Does this sort of thing happen often?"
"Yes." Said Theo at the same time as Lance said "No." the two exchanged a look and Lance started. "The tunnels do not change often." His voice almost defense as he spoke. "Yes they do. Between the wildlife and the deep dwarves the networks can change by the year."
"Oh... I wasn't referring to the tunnels I was referring to you guys getting lost." Mydra teased them gently, clearly starting to feel better as the two of them bickered back and forth. It was going to take a bit to adjust but she could already feel her body and mind settling into the new... old atmosphere around her.
Theo sighed and pulled out a strange box that fit into the palm of his hand. He then opened the top and a strange blue whisp of light flew out of the top and circles him a bit before flying down the tunnel on the left. "We should go left." Theo said with a smirk.
Lance looked dumb founded as he was about to answer when the box came out. "Is that a-" before he could answer he feel silent as he saw the whisp of light appear. "It is..."
Mydra had let her hand fall to her side when Theo reached for the box. She frowned slightly, cocking her head to the side as she watched him. "Wha-" Her eyes widened in surprise as the little blue whisp appeared and circled around him before heading off down the tunnel. "What was that exactly?" She asked curiously.
"It's a Wills Whisper." Lance answered. "They are extremely rare, and show barrers desires at the time of the box opening." Lance looked shocked to even still be staring at the box.
"The Whisp is not so uncommon, but getting one to identify the box as it's home is a rather difficult challenge." Theo explained as he headed down the tunnel after the whisper. "Fey are rather strong willed and don't like to be tied down by anything they don't allow to tie them down." Gord followed with a smirk on his face at the conversation.
Mydra followed close as they headed down the tunnel after the little blue whisp. "Right... hmm I've never heard of them. They sound interesting to say the least." She knew what he meant about not being able to kept fey tied down, they were free spirited creatures. "How did you come about one?"
"I took it from a very cruel man." Theo said as he watched the whisp float about lazily in the direction they needed to go. "It's not uncommon for the poor things to be captured by evil magic weavers. As the fey loses its ability to stray to far from the box or it will die, and if it stays out of the box for to long they grow weak and have to rest in the box to regain there strength."
"It's cruel and painful to just bond the poor things, but they take it an extra step to enforce its new life as a slave with the rest of it." Lance explained not to happy as he seemed to think on the process.
"That's awful..." Mydra said, unable to even think of what kind of life that would be. She looked over at Theo and realized he had basically gone through the same thing being that Drow womans slave. She walked along in silence then, not having anymore questions. Her arm brushed up against Theo a few times as they walked but she thought nothing of it, hoping it wouldn't bother him.
Theo smiled every time his arm brushed Mydras. As the group went down the tunnel for a while the whisper came back and flew around Theo until he opened the small box and the fey ladies down as he closed the box over it. "So what now?" Lance asked. "We're here." He told Lance as the group entered the a caverns light by two streams of magma flanking a road. As Theo stepped onto the road magic torch lights spaced every one hundred feet away.
Mydra came to a sudden stop as the two rivers of magma came into view. "Oh my gods..." She gasped softly, glancing around in awe. It had been so long since she'd been down here she couldn't remember anything about it. "Wow..." She watched as torch lights blinked on as Theo stepped onto the road. She kept close behind him, her nerves wearing thin in the unfamiliar place.
Lance now pulled out his map and then To the group. "So we go to Xen'Enel, the ruins of Ozimar, or straight for the job?" Lance asked as he reviewed his charts. Gord spoke first. "Ozimar I would say. The dwarf may not have much time. He has been down here for nearly three fortnights and only brought enough supply for two." Lance shook his head. "He's good as dead Gord. A lone Dwarf wondering the roads that deep would only survive if he was skilled in dungeon delving and exploration, but according to Theo he is only a smith."
Theo enter hefted placing a hand on Gords shoulder before he started back and then began a duel of words with a wizard. "We should go and find him. Alive or dead the man made a daring and bold act to better his family. That sacrifice, if it is one, should be honored... leaving him for up to a month of walking about the under side of a mountain dose not honor that." Theo then looked to Mydra for some help as Lance stared at Theo like he was mad. "Theo you survived the roads! You know how unlikely it is..."
Mydra watched the boys argue for a few moments before she cleared her throat loudly. She didn't want to whistle for fear of attracting unwanted attention so it would have to do. When the quieted down she stared at Lance in disbelief. "I can't believe you are even considering not going after him. We promised that woman we would go after her husband and try to bring him back alive. And now... now you want to what... just lie to her and back out! Are you kidding me!" Her red eyes flared up like they usually did when she was getting emotional. Lance wasn't one they normally angered her, it was typically Theo but her had struck a nerve in her just then.
"I'm not saying leave him. I'm saying we have a time line... we have a lot to do and not a lot of time to get it done or we don't get paid. The section of the deep roads we need to get into has a yearly rotation of sea water that flows into it and freezes. Right now the ice is melted off, but if we wait must longer the caverns will fill with sea water again and freeze. We don't breath water, and if we do go to the other side and the water freezes we will be trapped and die." Lance was not trying to be heartless, but there was really no time. They needed to get to the tomb of the long dead archmage and recover what they needed.
Theo had an idea come to mind. "Maybe we can do both..." he pointed out pulling out a map of his own. "The Dwarven runis are on the opposite side of the mountain from the crypt." He pointed out looking over his map, "but the accent dwarves and humans had an alliance. So there are tunnels connecting the two together with out need of the deep roads. We could split up, and then meet at the crypt...."
Mydra listened to Theo talk for a bit her hopes rising until he got to the last part. Her eyebrows raised and she shook her head. "Theo it's a nice idea but I can't be two places at once and you all clearly brought me here for a reason. To keep you all alive and healthy. How can I do that if we split up?" She looked around at her three boys, her eyes glowing in the dim light.
Lance sighed heavily rubbing his eyes. "She is right... what if we run into trouble and you have her? We are up a creak." He paused. Then looked go Mydra. "I guess we could all go and ignore the meeting in the underdark city of sex and sin." his smile brightly.
Mydra left out a relieved breath when Lance sided with her. It had made her really nervous to think of them all splitting up. "Sex and sin?" She asked curiously, quirking an eyebrow at Lance in question.
"You know what she will do if we-" Theo paused at her question. "Yes... the city is full of those who warship the goddess of sex, blood, and murder." Theo wash shocked. She had never heard of Gamora? It was unlikely if she had left so quick from the underdark at a young age. "Our information contact has a soft spot for the orphans that walk the streets, and her information is always right."
Lance cleared his through. "Always?" He asked a with smirk.
Mydra frowned slightly at Theo. "Theo... I left at a young age and what i do remember... I've tried very hard to block it out. So if I did learn that name, it means nothing to me now." She was almost embarrassed that she knew so little about where she came from. She looked back and forth between the two and wondered who they were talking about.
"Vi, has never stabbed us in the back." Theo pointed out to Lance. Making a show of waving off his comments. Lance waited. It time rebutting. "She has never been proven to stab us in the back, but many times she has sold the information she gave us to rival competitors, and once she even gave an assassin your whereabouts!" Theo shook his head and replied to Lance. "nothing we couldn't and didn't Handel with easy." Lance looked shocked, and turned to Mydra. "Can you believe this fool? She has our right stabbed him in the back and he refuses to believe it!" Theo didn't answer this time. He just kept walking.
Mydra stood back with a sigh as they argued. She gently touched Lance's shoulder with a soft smile. "Come on, let's just stick together." She raised up and kissed him on the cheek before moving forward to walk beside Theo's. "You know he only has your guys's best interest at heart. Do you have to fight with him?" Her voice was soft and her words gentle so that the other couldn't hear.
Lance smiled and shook his head, then nodded. "Your right."
Theo looked at Mydra. "We aren't fighting." He said with total honesty. "Were just having a discussion." He looked confused at her wounding how there distinction was taken for a fight. "Did it seem like we were fighting?" He asked a bit blushed over it now sounding if maybe Lance was fighting with him...
Mydra frowned then and shrugged. "Well... I don't know any of you too well but as an outsider it seemed like it. Maybe I'm just not used to your bantering yet. Sorry, I wont over step again." She blushed deeply, clearly embarrassed about saying anything.
"Your fine." Theo took her hand and smiled at her. "We do banter a bit rough. I know." He didn't want her to feel left out of there family.
Mydra jumped slightly at his touched but relaxed almost instantly. She gently squeezed his hand and nodded her head. "I'm just not used to it I guess... I've never really had anyone to do that with." Her eyes darkened in the poorly lit cave but if someone had been paying attention they'd have seen the change in her bright, glowing red eyes.
The group pressed on for a day, and they arrived at a check point gate, it was manned by orc guard with stow officers, and a single drow nobel woman sat at the gate. She was of low standing low enough to have to be involved in a commerce check point. They were inspecting a caravan when the group arrived and Theo stopped them shy of ear shot. "Let me do the talking, and Mydra act like your too high class to bother speaking to the low ranking woman that is running the gate or any of the other filth here." The group waited there turn and gord asked. "What about me?" Theo looked confused as he spoke.
Mydra gave her head a sharp nod and slipped back in between Gord and Lance. "Just pretend you're my guard or something." Mydra extended her neck, nose slightly turned up and a bored look on her face. She inhaled deeply hoping this would pass because she didn't know what else to do to act high class.
A young man appeared before the four. A drow escorted by two orcs who had noticed the group behind the caravan. He was slinder and handsome- his face smug and proud. He wore the uniform of a lower officer of the guard, a rapier hung from his hip and his leather armor sat neatly over his black and purple silks. The two orks wore simple linen pants, and steel armor over almost there entire upper body with steel greaves, they each carried a large steel shield and spear with swords on there hip. The man approached the group then spoke to Mydra. His Drachii had the silky dintyness of elven but a harsh violence to it. Like someone had put a bag of spiders into a bottle of fine aged whisky- shook the bottle then dumped the contents into the air. "Your business, fairness?"
Theo responded for her. "You will not insult my mistress with your male gaze or words." He only pauses enough to let the man be cut off by- "it is not the place of worms to question a Duchess, filth." Theo spoke in a way that almost seemed to match the guards, but with far more authority and control of the situation. His confidantes made even Lance wounded about the novel standing of Mydra.
Mydra lifted her chin a fraction of an inch, practically glaring down her dark nose at the man before them. She made sure not to open her mouth though, fearing it would break the facade. She decided it was best if Theo did all the talking, he was much better at it than her.
"You dear?" The man was cut off before he could finish speaking and stared dumbfounded at Theo. He then turned in his heal and went to the woman in charge of the check point. He bowed to her and explained the situation from his prospective. The women then approached with one male drow guard. "Explain yourself to me sister..." the woman trailed off locking eyes with Theo. "No... I saw you die..."
"No I'm afraid I'm not dead. I don't die easy." Theo lowered his hood, and a shock entered the guards. "Your men are already dead. If you let them draw it will be legal as long as I kill you all." Theo let his cloke hang open and his hands set on his pomals. He stared into the eyes of the woman with no fear. "What will it be?" Lance had already finished the sign for a magic missle and held it ready. Gords sword and shield had been in hand the hole walk here.
Mydra tried not to show surprise at what was happening but it was a hard thing to do. She knew there would be fights along the way but not so soon. She slipped her hand into her coat and grasped the hilt of her whip so that it was ready if need be.
"I know better than to pick a fight with the likes of you. If you budy guarding a nobel again she must not know the fate of you last master. That is her error not mine, however." The drow made a few motions of her hands and the guards cleared a path for them. "Go on then before I change my mind."
Theo nodded and walked straight through the gate with out fear. Lance and ford followed Mydra and sighed. "That was close." Lance muttered.
Mydra gave a deep sigh of relief when they were far enough away from the other group. She didn't like how close that had been. "Word will probably spread that you're down here..." She said to Theo in a quiet tone.
"They won't believe her." Theo said with a smirk. "I pay Val to spread rumors that I never left or that I have been doing work in other cities under ground. There are so many rumors no one believes any story they tell about me. Real or fake." Theo did have a good system.
"Were being followed Theo." Gord pointed out. Lance smirked as he saw the shadows that stalked them. "We will Handel them. You two get to val." Lance and gird each went a separate direction at a cross street, and they both ran. It caused the two stalking them to chase Lance and bird instead.
"And here we are splitting up anyway." Mydra sighed and shook her head, her senses now on high alert. She walked close to Theo, her body brushing against his as they moved through the tunnels. "Will the tunnels meet up together?"
"I'm sure we will see them before supper." Theo said with a smirk. "They have been here as often as I, and they know the lay out of the city well." The city had a strange comfort to it. The glowing orbs of soft light illuminated the streets just enough to make the structures carved into the cavern walls seem even larger, but also so beautiful to look at. The magma flows were not running inside the city it seemed. The streets were crowded as they went to the meeting place for vi, and when they arrived the sound from inside the inn was welcoming. Signing and dancing, and a good time could only await you with in the walls of this bar... "here we are." Theo said. At what point in the walk he had gone from holding her writs to laced fingers even he could not have said, be he looked into Mydra's eyes now and smiled. He wanted to hold her but he was already pushing the limit by holding her hand in public.
Mydra had been surprised by him grabbing a hold of her wrist as they walked but when he slid his hand further down and laced their fingers together she blushed deeply, a warmth spreading through her. As they walked towards a bar she felt him turn to look at her and her eyes lifted to meet his, her cheeks tinged with a deep read as she returned his smile. Clearing her throat she inhaled deeply, growing uneasy. Their strange relationship was hard to understand, even for her and she was a part of it. She had felt such anger and confusion with finding out who he was and thinking he was betraying her but now that they had that cleared up and he'd given her such kindness she felt warm towards him and deeply attracted, which was not going to make her job easy. "So... This Vi... she is?"
"An information broker by day..." He paused then couldn't think of a cleaner way to say it, "and an assassin when the pay is right." He went right on informing her. "She is one of the best in the business on both accounts. She may sulfide you when you meet her by the way. She's sweet, but that is a mask, she is a tyfling -and that is her race- witch dose not define her. Just keep your guard up and don't be shocked if she knows who you are. After all that's her job." Theo finished explaining as he reached the door and opened it for Mydra.
"Right..." Mydra stepped inside as Theo held the door open for her. Her heels clicked softly against the stone ground as she entered and stepped out of the way for Theo to saddle up beside her. She had no idea what Vi would look like or be wearing so she waited be his side, scanning the room. She wasn't to happy about there being so many men around but she'd grown to deal with her discomfort around them.
