Mort tottered in, he didn't look as if he was entirely there. He looked around at the plain room, the only thing there that caught his eyes was a small pile of cloth and a needle on his bed.
Amy noticed what he did, "What are those?"
"Probably clothes for me to make, I like sewing and stuff. Either they read my mind or they didn't have clothes that would fit my strange shape.."
Mort said, going over to the pile and picking up a long ream of material.
Amy kept her distance, she didn't want to drip over the clothes and ruin them. "It's simple like mine....makes sense."
Mort shrugged, threading the needle with practiced ease "Hmmmm.... Good materials."
Amy sat Indian style on his bed. She did this because it was comfy and that if her face dripped, her legs would catch it.
Mort began to sew the material together quickly, he pulled off one of his ribs and cut a long strip in the cloth. "Is the bed comfy?" Mort asked, looking up at her as he sewed.
Amy bobbed herself on the bed, "Yup...bouncy! I wonder how they got the flux metal into my bed and sheets. It's a good thing considering I don't have pj's."
Mort somehow grinned more and watched her bounce slightly. He kept sewing quickly, he didn't have to worry about things like sewing his fingers together.
"Although I never liked pajamas...they are just so uncomfortable.
" Amy went on, ""How the fabric gets bundled up under you...gah...it's just so bothersome."
Mort stared at the floor, she knew he was blushing "I never liked PJs either, I always wound up with them wrapped around my forehead."
"Woot!" Amy bounced, "Yay for sleeping nude!"
Mort was surprised his head didn't just pop off right then and there. He concentrated on the mateial in his hands, it was definatley taking shape. There was a hood, a very large deep hood, some baggy sleeves and he was working on the main torso. The shoulders were padded too so his shoulders didn't show threw.
Amy laid down on her stomach and watched Mort sew, "A little crafty, no?"
Mort let out a little nervous laugh "The streets can get rough, you learn how to repair holes in your clothes soon. Or Make new clothes if you get set on fire thought that stopped soon after they caught me."
"Who set you on fire?" Amy asked, leaning closer.
"Some guys, they do that to people who live on the streets sometimes. Stab them, beat them up, set them on fire. Actually you might have heard about the ones who jumped me, that group in Boston who dropped dead from fright last October." Mort said conversationaly, the only thing he had to talk about was the streets "It's wierd seeing a flaming skeleton not even screaming."
Amy couldn't help but laugh, "I bet trying to stab you wouldn't work either." She got up and poked bewteen his ribs.
"Strange thing is that they attack you from behind alot so when they stabbed me I didn't know. Sometimes I'd used to walk around for days with a knife in my back." Mort mumbled, laying down a large hoody on the bed.
Amy grabbed his rib, "So you can't feel this can you?"
"No I cant feel you holding my leg" Mort said, not turning round from his inspection of a piece of cloth. When he did look round he stared at her hand "Ok, I got it wrong. Most people grab my leg. I guess they cant reach my ribs."
"Can't reach? That's odd." Amy said before letting for of his rib. "So I could pop your head off and you not even notice?"
"Cause I have a huge hoody in between" Mort explained "But yeah, basically. If it wasn't for the fact I see out of my head I wouldn't notice it."
"How fun..." Amy smirked and walked behind him. She grabbed and yanked out a vertebrae from his lower spine.
Unfortunatley, the one Amy had decided was worthy of knicking was a rather vital support one. With a yell of surprise his spine keeled over backwards, his entire torso bending over backwards "H-hey! Stop stealing me!" Mort spluttered.
Amy snickered, "Oopsy!" she said, waving the vertebrae about.
There was a small pop and Mort cursed, his entire top half fell over. He dropped the things he was holding and tried to snatch at his piece of bone "Comeon, gimme."
Amy giggled as she flirted with Mort, "Whatcha gonna do about it?"
Mort's eyes shrank slightly, going to pin pricks as he concentrated. The piece of bone shot from her hand and instead of going to Mort went straight threw Amy's open mouth.
Amy stood silent and wide-eyed. She backed away and starred at him for a moment.
Mort chuckled "Whats wrong? Something you ate?"
Amy put a hand in her mouth and yanked out the bone. "You are so lucky that I don't have flesh....that could've bled really badly."
Mort poked her gently "I know, I wouldn't do that if you had skin. Same as you wouldn't pinch my spine."
Amy yanked his head up and starred into his sockets, "Don't do that without warning me, kay?"
Mort glared at her, though you couldn't really tell "You take my spine and you get angry cause I poke you with it."
Amy hid her smile. She was flirting, yet it was an odd way of it, "Now what?"
"I still have to make some trousers but I guess I can make some later." mort said "Now do you mind putting me back together."
"Trousers? ....Oh! You mean pants?" Amy assumed. She sat on the floor and started to put his spine together, "I aced anatomy class. Well.....any science for that matter."
Mort cursed gently "Ah! I cant stop speaking like that! One guy came from England to America and lost all his money. I talked to him while he was trying to get a job so I started to talk like him..."
Amy giggled, "It's no big." When she finished attaching the ribs, she attached the hips and leg bones.
"Im trusting you now, I dont want to walk around with my head attached to my groin. Im going to get enough unfortunate knicknames as it is." Mort said, glaring suspiciously.
"Hush you." Amy said, putting his head on top of hers, balancing it. "Don't worry...I wouldn't do that unless you deserve it." After she assembled the toe bones, she headed upwards, hooking the shoulders together.
Mort hummed gently, watching her put himself back together. He laughed gently as he excerted his will and slowly set his skull spinning ontop of Amy's head.
Amy finished the arm and hand bones, "Fun's over Mortimer, all done."
Mort hopped off her head and floated slightly unsteadidly over to his neck. He clicked his skull on with a sigh "Good to be back together again." He got up, checking himself all over and switching two ribs around "Very good, now one thing we have yet to do is meet more people. It's messy but it's gotta be done."
"Where though?" Amy asked, walking over to the window. She would see some students down at the pool. "There are some people down there but I don't know if we should bother."
mort looked out as well and shrugged lightly "Better than nothing... come on" he let out a little sigh and headed down into the main entrance hall
