Prologue
Another sunny morning arrives upon the little community that lives on the eastern island. The day is like every other day. As the sun rises the fishermen return from the shores of a nights fishing, rushing to get to the market before it opens. The women get ready to open the market and get the day started. Children get asked to help where they can, there is no time for play, yet when the parents don’t look, they run down to the shores to play in the sea water.
The people of this community don’t all look alike. Some can be seen with shiny blue strings in their hair, and others with bright blue symbols tattooed on their bodies. They are the water people. Some, more than others are blessed with the power of water, while living on the eastern island as a community, they travel to the western island to learn their powers.
Since the very beginning, only the women were blessed with the powers, therefore no man has gone to the western island. If the woman doesn’t complete her training and lessons on the western island she returns to the eastern island to find herself a husband and hopefully bare a baby girl who will do the same as her mother did. If the mother bares a baby boy, he will grow up in the teachings of what the man does for the community. Hunting, gathering and providing is his role. No one strays off their path, as the teachings don’t allow this to happen. Everyone knows their role to play.
The water people are isolated from the rest of the world. They can see the mainland from their eastern island, but they never leave the island to go to the mainland. They believe the mainland is filled with savages therefore they stay away.
There is no one person with authority in the community, except for one woman that lives and teaches on the western island. She goes by the name of Sister Eirene which means Daughter of Poseidon. She is the high sister with the most powerful magic. In 70 years she is the only one that completed her magic training on the western island. She has taken on the role of Water Goddess after her completion and went on a long journey of which we cannot speak now. After long years she finally came back and decided to stay on the western island to keep on the teachings for the new Water Goddess to come.
This is the life of the water people.
