"Hello", said
Tiae to the referee, entering the Arena.
Sheba followed soon after. "I'm looking for some training", she said simply.
"Hail thee!"
Nickademus greeted Tiae and actually bowed slightly. The plates of his armor were mighty hot under this arena's sun and he tried to move as little as absolutely needed. "What do you two desire specifically?"
"Specifically, I'd like not to die so fast", said
Tiae and giggled. "Just send me a normal oponent to fight with", she said.
"Hmm, I have what you need!"
Nickademus said after a second's ponder. "Arrived from Koe yesterday, as a matter of fact!" He added with a smile and sauntered off to where the levers for controlling the many platforms of the arena were.
"You guys ready?!" He called back, his hand already reaching for one of the levers.
Tiae took a deep breath. "Ready", she said standing firmly on the arena, waiting for the creature.
Sheba stood right besides her.
Nickademus didn't reply, but promptly activated the lever, which in turn opened a trap door at K14.
Brought up through the trap door was a small lizard with goggles with a hand cannon strapped to its back. Its thin tail swiped the over its head as it tasted the air with his tongue and brought the cannon to arms!
Battle has started!

Sheba's turn! -
The little panther attempted a rather ridiculous roar as she charged against the Gecko!
Sheba tried to bite the creature with her small teeth!
The
Gecko tried to evade but underestimated Sheba's speed! It got bit on the arm and got dealt 3 damage!
Tiae's turn! -
Tiae smiled as Sheba managed to do a successfull attack. "Well done!", she said, before casting Wind slash at the gecko. Right after that she casted wind wall in front of her.
Tiae called on the wind to attack the Gecko, but the lizard was both quick and nimble! He dodged and evaded ever wisp of malevolent breeze without getting hurt!
Meanwhile, a wall of extreme turbulence erected itself in front of Tiae, going from J12 to P12!
Gecko's turn! -
The
gecko recovered from his dodging and immediately took out a white potion and threw it onto the ground before running back to P20.
The bottle exploded in a great Flash and blinded Tiae!
Tiae is blind! Blindness will last for 3 turns.
Sheba's turn! -
Sheba felt pretty proud of her last attack and attempted to repeat it, dashing towards the gecko trying to bite it!
The
Gecko tried dodging the Panther again, this time taking into account her speed!
Sheba's teeth chomped down on air, as the Gecko slipped away!
Tiae's turn! -
Blinded as she was,
Tiae thought about what she could do. She decided not to move and casted lullaby, in the hopes the Gecko would fall asleep!
Tiae started to sing a calm lullaby, weaving magic into the words so they would entrance the Gecko and put him to sleep. Even though the small Lizard failed to counter the spell, the magic didn't do much other than simply calm him.
Gecko is still awake!
Gecko's turn! -
The
Gecko glared through its goggles at Sheba and produced another vial from its coat, red this time, and threw it at the Panther!
Sheba attempted to speedily evade the incoming potion attack.
Sheba tried to evade so fast she got tangled up in her own paws and stumbled just as the gecko's potion crashed onto her! As soon as the fragile glass broke and its contents came into content with the air, it burst into flames on poor Sheba! The little panther couldn't stand the pain and fainted as the flames dealt a massive 13 damage before burning out.
Tiae's turn! -
Since she was blind,
Tiae couldn't see Sheba burst in flames, but she knew there was something really wrong. She attempted putting the gecko to sleep again with a lullaby, maybe this time she'd have more luck.
Tiae's spell was much more potent this time around and quickly subdued the Gecko, putting him into a deep sleep for 11 turns!
Gecko is asleep!
Gecko's turn! -
The
Gecko struggled against it's magical sleep, and through pure, dumb luck, managed to wake himself up!
Gecko isn't asleep anymore!
Tiae's turn! -
Still blind,
Tiae moved along the wind wall to P11 and tried to cast Screech.
Tiae weaved a spell of the yellow element and screeched into it before sending the magic towards the Gecko. The lizard, as frail as it was, couldn't block out the screech and received an ear-drum bashing that caused 1 damage and a constant ringing in its ears!
Gecko's turn! -
Now feeling as though it couldn't concentrate enough to remember which of its bottles would emulate which spell, and knowing Tiae wouldn't be blinded forever, the
Gecko decided to slyly run to T6 and hide! (Move Silently)
The small lizard managed to skim over the arena's sandstone without a sound that Tiae could detect and got to T6!
Tiae found her vision return to her!
Tiae isn't blind any more!
Tiae's turn! -
"Coward!!" shouted
Tiae as the Gecko dissapeared behind the arena's infrastructure
. She blinked a couple of times as sight returned to her. Locating Shebah lying on the other side of the wall, Tiae would have given the panther a potion, except she didn't have one. "Darn", she complained, and decided to drink one of her magic potions herself.
Tiae drank her magic potion and recovered 12 MP!
Gecko's turn! -
While Tiae was busy chugging a potion, the Gecko darted out of his hiding spot, going to R6 to get a clear shot, and blasted a cannon ball at Tiae!
Tiae attempted to reach the other side of the wind wall in the hopes it would block the gecko's attack!
Trying to dodge a bullet was usually a long-shot at best!
Tiae found that out as the boom of the gecko's cannon rang through her ears, and at the same time, the fist-sized projectile reaped through her torso! Bones crunched and organs we demolished as the lizard's surprise attack dealt 20 damage to Tiae, who flew back from the impact and was dead before she hit the sandstone! Which was good for her, because at least that way she didn't have to see that lizard doing a victory dance..
Battle Ended!
Tiae is defeated!
"Alright, alright!" Nickademus yelled at the Gecko to interrupt its dance while he walked out to Tiae. He snapped his fingers and an Arena assistant appeared to get the Gecko back into its quarters under the Arena.
"And here I thought you might have won this, Lady." He spoke to Tiae's corpse as he worked a number of spells to repair her mangled upper-body and then replenish her health.
Tiae returned to full health and regained consciousness!
"WAAAAAAAAAHHH!!" cried Tiae as she regained consciousness and sat up. She hit the floor with her fist frustrated for having died yet again. Anger passed to sadness, and Tiae sobbed, but quickly cleaned a tear away from her eyes, trying to look strong. She stood up clumsily and walked over to her little pet, taking the panther in her arms. "Can you heal her?" she asked the referee.
Nickademus started as he realized he had forgotten about the scorched kitty and briskly walked over to it.
"Of course." He said and made a slight grimace as the smell of burnt flesh reached his nostrils. He extended his hand to the panther and worked some more of his healing magic on her.
Sheba also regained consciousness after being healed!
"Thank you" said Tiae. Sheba blinked and jumped off Tiae's arms, landing perfectly on her paws. "Let's go", said Tiae, as she headed outside to the colosseum.
"Defeat is never pleasant!" Nickademus called out to Tiae as she left. "But as long as the crowd is pleased, you've earned your pay!" He declared, and in response, Tiae heard the crowd cheer as she departed the Arena. Though whether they were cheering for her, or for her grandiose defeat, she couldn't be sure.
