“No! Do not touch that!” said a furious voice.
“Why not? This is the thing that made my grandfather disappear.”
“So you wish to disappear in the same pitiful way like your grandfather did? Do you? Limbed!”
“I couldn’t care less.” He said in an offended way. “Who’d miss me anyway?”

An immediate silence fell in the room. No one was moving or talking. The room was totally empty, only Limbed and a girl were standing in it with a small table with a strange object standing between them, they were throwing filthy looks to each other.

Without any hesitation, Limbed was moving his hand towards the object on the small table.

The girl made a sudden hand movement and the sleeve of Limbed’s jacket was pinned against the wall with a brute force.

“What are you trying to accomplish? It is not like I asked you to do this!” he yelled at her.
“I am trying to stop you from killing yourself!” she shouted.
“I will not die. I’ll just disappear.” He mumbled.
“Just disappear? Just disappear! You don’t even know if you’re going to disappear or die. You –“
“I do know!” he interrupted.
“How do you know then? Tell me. How!”
“I just know” he mumbled again.

Limbed ripped his sleeve from the wall so he could move freely again.

“I am not in the mood to be arguing with you. We’ve been over this a million times.”
“And I haven’t agreed to this for a million times!” she said with a fierce expression on her face. “So what are you trying to accomplish?”
“None of your business.” he replied, and turned his head away to avoid eye-contact.
“Look at me when I’m talking to you!” she yelled.
“I have my reasons not to.” He said, still avoiding eye-contact.

There was a very tense atmosphere in the room. The girl was biting on her lip from frustration. It began to bleed; the drips of blood were dripping on the old and dusty floor. When a drip of blood made contact with the floor it gave a soft sound. Torches on the wall were emitting a bright light. The shadows from the Girl and Limbed were visible on the walls.

The girl was throwing disgraceful looks at Limbed, while on the other side of the small table with the mysterious object on it; Limbed wasn’t moving a muscle, still avoiding eye-contact with the girl and drowned in his own thoughts.

On a sudden moment, there was no more sound, not even the sound of the drips of blood that were falling on the floor. Even the light that the torches were emitting disappeared, though the torches itself were still visible for some reason. The room became darker and darker until it became pitch black.

After curiosity struck Limbed’s mind because of the strange circumstances he looked up and faced the girl.

The curiosity changed to fear in an instant. Limbed noticed that the girl’s appearance has changed. The girl’s skin colour darkened a bit, it turned from a pale colour to a tanned one. Even though her skin darkened, her eyes brightened up until it became bright white.

The atmosphere in the room still didn’t change after a few minutes have passed. There was still no sound, even though the drips of blood from the girl were still falling softly on the ground. The torches were still not emitting any light into the room, but still visible. The only things ‘visible’ were himself, the girl, the torches and the small table in the middle of the room with the still unknown object on top of it.
Limbed just realized, after making up his mind that this is not a dream or an illusion, that it was not himself avoiding eye-contact, but the girl who was. As though she was ashamed of herself being like that. Limbed decided to make the first move.

“Pertami?”

The only response she gave was a tear. If it were a tear of sorrow or happiness, Limbed could not tell.

He decided to give it another go.

“Pertami…” he asked in a very caring way, his outrageous mood disappeared because of the sudden change of situation. He continued, “Pertami, what’s wrong… What’s all happening?” He was very confused because all of this happened in a very short period of time.

The girl, Pertami, shed another tear from her eyelid, and she finally responded.

“I’ll explain it all to you, but first, I’ll have to take this away.”
“Take what away?” he asked.

Short after that, she made another sudden hand movement and the little table with the object on it disappeared.

“W – What did you do? Where did you – When did you!! – “
“Shush!” she interrupted. “I’ve taken this object away to somewhere else, so you cannot do any foolish things anymore, such as touching it, and disappear.”

Limbed gave a faint smile.

“It’s right behind you.” he grinned.

There was nothing visible behind Pertami, yet he still knew that it was placed there.

“H – How did you know? How did you find out?”

Limbed gave another faint smile.

“I’m somewhat connected to that thing. I do not know why. I guess it has something to do with my grandfather’s occurrence. It could also be because of my eager to change my fate with it. However, I can sense its location whenever I want.”

Limbed grinned. He was not afraid anymore. It was like he got used to the strange things that were going on.

“Well, it seems that there is no other way then to just simply ask you not to touch it.” she asked.
“I agree.” He responded. “But only if you’ll explain everything to me what exactly is going on, which I assume, you were going to. You know how – “
“– how nosy you are?” she finished his sentence. “Yes I know.” She grinned.
“Well let’s get started then.” Said Limbed, and he simply sat on the ground, which was still not visible.
