Dimitri looked over at Dane who was jotting down notes from a grimoire that had caught his attention. “We have no way of knowing if our vampire was successful or not…”
“I’m working on that,” Dane said spitefully. “I know the puppet screw up was my fault, I got that. I forgot to put a tracking spell on the vampire.”
“I didn’t think you could track things via magic,” Dimitri nodded in approval.
“What did you think we would do? Put an ad in the personal column?” Dane cattily asked. “Hey Dracula, let’s put this GPS on your belt while you track down the reigning Mistress of Vampires. We pay well.”
“Haha,” Dimitri sarcastically responded, “You should do stand up.” He ignored the stifled sniggers that were coming from the other four vampire hunters as he continued his reading.
“Why does white magic use women only in their practices?” Roy asked.
“They have one man. He’s the Law of the circle, usually armed with a sword that was enchanted, and he protects the casters of the circle, namely the high priestess,” Dane said in monotone.
“It says here that women represent life, and the maiden, mother and chrone are the three stages of life that women go through,” Roy said with interest.
“He’s right. Men represent a constant…usual
ly the darker, colder side of things in magic…” Dimitri commented.
“You mean the giver of life, the mother and the taker of life, the warrior?” Dane questioned.
“Exactly. I think we may have found our ritual’s main points…” Dimitri said confidently.
“So what does that leave us to do?” Todd was almost afraid to ask.
“We have athames as they have swords,” Dane said quietly. “We need a blade to curse with a Valentine male’s blood, followed by the blood of the Valentine maiden, mother and chrone.”
“There may not be all three for years…” Marc commented.
“Yeah, what do we do? Wait until then?” Chris asked, knowing that vampires were immortal and he was human, like his other companions.
“I doubt it will take that long, now, gentlemen,” Dimitri replied.
