RPer: [
wicked fae mage]
Character name: Vincent Rime
Character setting: The Dark Ages/Fantasy
Age: 25
Race: Human (or hume if you will)
Appearance: Vincent has long ebony hair that reaches the middle of his back at its longest, brushing just past his eyes at its shortest. During public appearances he ties his hair back at the nape of his neck. His eyes are a warming blue hue and his features are rugged and handsome with light traces of facial hair. Short for a man, he stands at 5’6 (168 cm). He is rather slender, relying on brute strength rarely. Starting from his fingertips and ending at his shoulders are scars from cuts and gashes, inflicted for magical purposes. As a noble, a portion of his beauty is in keeping a creamy skin tone having done little to no physical labor during his life. His clothing consists of a deep blue shirt tunic and tight black slacks, black pointed shoes and a maroon overcoat that drags on the ground as he walks.
History: He was born into a noble family. As his father’s first son, and the one born with his bloodline’s strongest power Vincent was granted several gifts upon his birth. Those gifts include a chrysoprase pendant for healing and an uncut bloodstone for power. His family’s birthrights include the creation of a soulstone, a stone that will live inside the child, bringing out their strengths and eliminating their weaknesses. In Vincent's case, his soul was charged as a Jade to strengthen his heart both metaphorically and spiritually. At the age of seven when he had already had a fair comprehension of English, his father sent him to a Temple to study.
Immediately, Vincent excelled in the studies of incantations and reagents. Over a few month period he caught onto even the more intricate spells, and the more difficult summonings. His studies of magic ended when he was fifteen and sent home as his father’s apprentice. Vincent's first magical challenge was presented to him by his father when he handed him an athane. The purpose of the knife was for Vincent to spill his own blood and to employ it as a weapon. Facing fear, and not wanting to refuse an order, Vincent lacerated his palm and utilized his pure energy into strong magics. Since then, he continued to master his family’s blood magic and control over ice, teaching his siblings the most intricate spells to his siblings, and the simplest to his family’s servants.
Personality: He is a very quick-witted and resourceful thinker. He remains terse and concise with explanations and replies. Vincent's general temperament is calm and collected and few things can really upset him. He knows little fear and respond to curiosity and impulse, saving judgments for conclusions and needing little reasoning for actions.
Occupation: Noble/Wizard
Abilities: He can mix his blood with different herbs for different magical effects. Most commonly he forms a poison by mixing his own blood and nightshade berries, applying it to his athane; alternatively, he also combines his blood with cowsilk to form a healing salve. With Vincent's blood and bloodstone, he can conjure and control ice. All of his abilities come with a large cost, both of his energy and a large quantity of blood. He has come to find that his abilities only last so long as he is conscious.
Interview:
[
Chel.] answers the door to her office, "Oh hello Vincent, a little late I see. Nevertheless, come in, come in..." She opens the door and leads you to a comfy seat across from her desk. The walls are dark red in color with a wooden trim. Along the right wall is a collection of books lined up perfectly along a wide bookcase. Chel sits herself down on in a leather chair and props her feet up onto the cherry wood desk. "So- I've read an awful lot about you, and you seem like a charming young man. However, for my records I was wondering what a 'bad day' is for you?"
"Well, I've been sick on my birthday a lot. And generally bad things just seem to happen like that or losing my money...genera
l bad luck."
"I see..." Chel said, taking the pen top of her mouth. After jotting a few notes down, she looked at him and asked, "So tell me about this soulstone thing. On here, it reads that it brings out strengths and eliminates your weaknesses. So, wouldn't that make your life damn near perfect?"
"Definitely not. Magic takes a lot of my blood and energy to use. Granted it is a quite a useful ability of mine, but it was rather difficult to master," Vincent replied as he slipped his hand into his pocket and began running his fingers along the mentioned stone. "Physical tasks are difficult for me, mostly because of the toll that magic use has on my body."
"I'm not very familiar with magic, but could anyone use this stone?" Chel asked, tilting her head curiously. "What if you used say- cows blood? Or even mine?"
Vincent met her eyes, "Only if their blood itself is magical. Strong magic is passed from parent to child. Simple magics can be learned by anyone, but blood magic is complicated and trying. But if you are asking if animals can have magic in their blood, yes, they do, so their blood can be used in rituals."
"I see, I see..." Chel mutters before writing a few things down quickly. "Oh! I'm sorry, where are my manners? Did you want some water or coffee?" she asked, gesturing to the espresso machine in the right corner of the room.
Vincent blinked in befuddlement. "What is...coffee?" he inquired.
"Seriously?" Chel asked with a quizzical expression. She glanced at her sheet and muttered, "Oh right- 'dark ages'." Smiling, the woman rose from her seat and headed over to the beverage corner. "Just a hot drink that alerts your senses and perks you up when you are tired. I know answering all of my questions can be a bit boring. Should I pour you a cup to try?"
Vincent shrugged, "I suppose," he smiled, wondering what the beverage would taste like.
Not wanting it to be too bitter for the lad, Chel dropped a few sugar cubes into his cup before she handed it over to him. "There you are." Pouring herself a cup, Chel moved around to her desk once more and sat. She waited to see his reaction to the coffee before she would proceed with the questioning.
Vincent brought the cup to his lips, sniffing it a few times first. It smelled like nothing he had ever encountered before. He slowly sipped some of the liquid, releasing a pleased moan. "That is quite delicious," he asserted happily.
Chel smirked and took a drink of her own before continuing. "Now then- where were we..." she skimmed her notes briefly. "Ah, could you tell me what you've been up to recently so that I may update your files?" She looked at him before giving examples, "Like- have you moved recently? Married? Pets? Workplace? Anything really."
"Well, I was beginning my morning routine and somehow I was transported to a world composed entirely of crystal," Vincent answered.
"Say what?" Chel asked, tilting her head suddenly. Out of all things he possibly could have said, she wasn't expecting that. "Mind elaborating that a bit?"
"Well, myself and several other people were transported to another world by two powerful sorcerers. The priestess wishes us to protect her and the priest wishes for an apocalypse. Each of us must choose what we are to do."
"Well- that choice seems rather obvious." Chel said, jotting a few things down quickly. "How long were you there? What happened?"
"Being there was an odd sensation. There was no sense of time of days passing, nor hours. The only things there were the crystal, the Knights and our priest and priestess," Vincent responded, his eyes glistening with the memories of the mysterious world. "Our actions resulted in a divided civilization, something capable of both good and evil. The strangest thing is that the civilization appeared human as we were."
"Sounds trippy." Chel admitted, jotting a few things down before she added, "So- wait... what happened? How did you get back?"
Vincent shrugged, "My departure from that world was just as sudden and unexpected as my arrival."
"So- what happened while you were there? Everything went smoothly?" Chel asked, taking a sip of her drink. "Sound like one hell of a time."
"Well, aside from myself, the priestess and the priest several other Knights played parts in the events there. People traded sides, learned new things about themselves and we formed a new world made of the elements," Vincent answered. "I do not know for sure if things went smoothly for the priestess and priest never voiced their intentions."
"So- do you know if you are back for good? Or do you think someday you will be returned to that world?" Chel asked curiously after jotting down a few things..
"I hope to be back for good. I rather miss my own time," Vincent answered before taking a sip of his coffee.
"So aside from the crystal world you were sent into, so you have any relations? A wife? Girlfriend perhaps?" She stopped and looked at him for a moment before adding, "...Boyfriend?"
"No, I am not involved with anybody. My father has yet to arrange a marriage with a suitable wife for me," Vincent answered. "Knowing my father she will be much younger than me and from an equally magical and wealthy family," he remarked thoughtfully.
"Arranged marriage? Hmm..interesting." she crossed something off and preceeded. "So aside from the crystal world bit, could you explain an 'average' day in your life?"
"I rise with the sun and have breakfast firstly. The next few hours consists of me teaching my siblings the family's magics whether it be reagents or the use of water and ice. In the afternoon hours our studies of History and Philosophy begin, taking us to dinner, a bath and then to sleep again," he explained.
