The Elite Treaty of Peace has just been established, after Earth was nearly destroyed in World War III. Several years of peace and further space exploration continued on as worlds were established on planets out of the Solar System.
However, after the discovery of a newfound planet, and the true history of their past, war breaks out once more as the Rebellion, rallied under Admiral Dunar Gostov - a revered hero of World War III - attempts to protect the new world from the reach of the people of Earth after discovering the truth.
Meanwhile, the Lites, instead of mourning the past and moving on, has in anger and jealousy at the gods for abandoning them and creating a new world, planned to subjudicate the world under their rule. I their longing for vengeance, they also have another plan in mind: destroy those who brought their downfall over a century ago - the humans.
The Plague, once the grand, magnificent dragons, now have mutated to creature of evil and greed. They have waited long for a chance to finally unleash the might of their forces, under the rule of the Dragonqueen, among the only remaining dragons who have maintained their majestic appearance.
However, as for now, it is the calm before the storm.
Nodding, Terrandis followed after Nagin. He couldn't help but turn back to look behind him.
Yes, they'd be back, with reinforcements, perhaps even a leader. And if the current Silvidarthian tribe Matriarch showed up, we're in for trouble.
Nova urged Pup on, ignoring the failed attempts of the hostage to break free. They had to reach the mountains soon, before nightfall came. Then, they would not stand a chance against the "moonlight warrior" Silvidarthians
. The reddening sky did not bring much hope to her.
After a few hours without disturbance, the group reached the pass between the mountains. However, instead of passing through, Nova motioned them to follow into a narrow opening at the base of the mountain. "If I know correctly, there is someone in here who may help us."
Terrandis followed into the gap, wary of the pitch-darkness, even absent of the moon's usual light.
Theo walked in after him keeping his wits about him, his hands rested gently near his swords in case of another attack.
They continued onwards, Terrandis in the lead. Nova fell slightly back, as she had to grope blindly through the tunnel, while Terrandis seemed to have some advantage of sight in the darkness. He set a steady, yet cautious pace, pushing unrelentingly onwards. Suddenly, feeling something give way beneath him, Terrandis came to an abrupt stop. A second too late. A trap was set off, sending a volly of arrows in their direction.
The tunnel was too dark to try to see anything for Theo so hehad closed his eyes and blindly followed the wall, when he head the arrows coming he yelled, "Get down!" and took out his swords. He flicked the swords back and forth ins the small passage and it worked just as well as spinning a staff would, the arrows were deflected, with the exception of five lucky arrows, one of which grazed his shoulder.
Pup snarled at the arrows coming towards her and he passenger. Two of the arrows came directly towards her, so she turned to where they deflected off her armor. "And some dragonoids wonder why people hunt them for their scales. Idiots. Little arrows arent about to be the death of me."
Nova used her greatsword as a shield, holding it infront of her. However, one of them passed by and struck their hostage in the side. Nova swore. Eyes blazing, she glared at Terrandis. "How clumsy can one get? You do not think a sorcerer does not keep their door unguarded! You should be glad it was not a fireball they launched at us!"
"No, but that was next!" A voice exclaimed with glee from the darkness ahead.
Pup faced towards where the voice was coming from then looked at her companions. "Well, this isn't going well for you guys is it. I think a fireball would only make me feel slightly warm...But it wouldn't hurt. I'll act as a shield if you want to take our hostage off my back."
"No, wait here," Nova whispered in command. THen swiftly leaping off Pup's back, she faced the newcomer in the dark. She sorely wished she could create a light to view her quarry when she spoke, but had never been all too good at sorcery in her past. "Grendlith! Look what you nearly brought upon us! Our captive now needs immediate care!"
The one called Grendlith spared Nova the trouble and snapped his fingers, producing a small flame on his finger tips. He was a short man, face lined with age, but his eyes gleamed in a energetic, almost mad fervor. Judging by his robes, and a staff in one hand, one could judge that he was a spellcaster. "Just a welcoming for an old friend! Do come in!" He grinned widely, eyes bulging. Turning, he motioned towards a face of solid rock, and it vanished before them, revealing a small chamber, his living quaters.
"A warm welcoming too," Theo says. "Nice fireball by the way," he says sincerely as he follows the others into Grenlith's quarters.
While Terrandis lifted the captive off of Pup's back and laid him out on a bed, Nova went to speak with her "old friend".
"I knew that you wouldn't have come all this way just to visit me! What is it you want this time?" Grenlith demanded in exasperated fury. He absent-minedly organized his mess of scrolls and potions as he spoke.
Interrupting, Terrandis called, First, the elf needs attention.
Pup didn't like the sound of this 'Grendlith,' but kept that to herslef as she followed them into the living chambers. "Not really made for a dragonoid is it," she said as she looked around. Spotting a soft looking rug, she smiled and went to go curl up onto it.
Grenlith froze suddenly, the broad grin on his face replaced by an icy expression. Without turning around, he said in a low tone, "Get off of the rug, please."
Illadriel Heartfelt led a score of elves into the mountain passes to better explore and understand what was within the areas outside the forest dwellings. With them, they wielded ready swords and shields of the Lite Sentinals' colours so they would be conveniently prepared for what may lay ahead. Illadriel sent a pair of scouts to search the road before her in case anything waited to pounce from the darkness.
Pup raised her head and tilted it to the side at Grenlith before growling at him. "Is there a reason as to why I may not be on this rug?"
"I'll ask you again, get off of my rug." Grenlith replied in the same tone. However, there was something else burning in his eyes however. A sense of purpose behind the usually unfocused gaze.
Nova gave Pup a sideglance. "I'd do what he says if I were you... It's nothing personal, just an odd quirk of his." She spoke in a low tone, barely a whisper, but she knew that Pup with her sense of hearing could pick it up without difficulty.
Terrandis, ignoring the dispute over such a minor thing, had laid down the elf, and was checking over him. He was not trained in the field of medics, however even he could tell that the signs weren't good. Although the arrow had missed any vital organs, it had sunk deep in, and the loss of blood may prove just as fatal. There was also the matter of removing the arrowhead still embedded into the elf's flesh. Not trusting the strange man to the care of the elf, once of his race, he turned to Theo. "I am not confident in my abilities to help the captive. Are you able to treat his wound?"
Pup sighed, but got up, brushing past Grenlith over to Terrandis. "I can transfer some of my energy over to him to get him through the night if thats the last options." She bent her neck down and sniffed the elf. "Such an interesting smell your kind has..."
Theo walked over to the elf and knelt down checking him over. "Well, this is... shouldn't be that hard." Theo said looking over the wounds. He touched the arrow and the captive gave a low uncaonsious moan and Theo thought it best to remove that. "I'll need bandages... a lot, and a bowl of hot water." He turned to pup and said, "If you could pour your energy into him when we start to pull the arrows out then that would be great, he'll need the strength." Theo knew what he was doing at this point, he had treated some minor things, cut bruises, he had made a makeshift splint for a broken arm, and bandaged a deep cut so he had a feel for treating wounds although he had never treated an arrow in the body.
Pup nodded. "Will do. However, I cant get you any bandages or water since claws aren't meant to hold things." She grinned and clicked her claws on the floor.
"Mr. Genlith would be so kind as to get me the bandages and water." Theo said politely as he looked over any other cuts or bruises from the ride here. Since the captive was on the pup's back he had bruising from buising against it while they ran away but it was minor and nothing to worry about. Looking over the arrow wounds Theo chewed his lip a bit trying to think of how to take it out the right way.
His mood returning back to a cheery innocence just as abruptly as it had left, Grenlith smiled. "Certainly!" He motioned towards the corner of a room and a roll of makeshift bandages came flying towards him. He stopped it in its tracks, dropping it on the floor beside Theo. Then, he tried the same for the waterbowl - without as much success. The stone hit him in the head, and howling in pain and fury, he sent it back on its way, where it collided with the wall and shattered to the ground.
Eyeing the man critically, Nova remarked the obvious. "I'm guessing we're out of a water bowl..."
"Okay, raw it is then." He grabbed an arrow and looked at pup with a look that said get ready. Then he looked at Genelith and said, "When I take it out put a bandage on and press down, I'll wrap him up while you apply the pressure." Then Theo worked the arrow out and, although it ripped a bigger hole in his flesh it seemed to not damage any internal organs.
Pup nodded and put her nose to the elf's forehead, transferring energy into him as the arrow was pulled out. A quiet humming sound came from her as she did this. Pulling back, she sighed "All done."
If the elf was previously unconcious, he was now very awake. With a cry of pain, he jerked awake, instinctively trying to push Theo and Pup away.
Nova gave the elf a casual side-glance, then asked, "Think we will have to cauterize the wound to prevent infection? Or do you have some 'magic potion' to take care of that too?"
The strange mage frowned. "You will have to pay me for a potion. They don't come cheap you know!"
Nova gave him a quirky smile. "But my friend, what use does one such as you have for gold?" Then, without warning, she spun around and held the tip of her blade against his throat. "Or will your life be enough?"
A sudden change came over the mage again. The clueless, unfocused eyes flickered once more, and then began to fill with a shade of bloof red.
Noticing the change, Nova stepped cautiously back. For the first time, a trace of fear could be seen in her.
"You are not my friend!" Grenlith shouted with a note of hysterical glee. "Not my friend!" He repeated again, but this time, a burst of flame hit the ground inches before Nova. "There are enemies in my home! Saly them all, Terrogrash!" Runes of red began to glow, as though etched into his flesh with flame.
"Run." The word came out as barely a whisper, and Nova began to run backwards towards the entrance.
Terrandis followed, carrying the elf, but waiting for the others to come
"Still new to this whole thing but that looks really bad." Theo said backing away and running when he got far enough to feel safe to turn his back to the red glowing mage.
The ground began to tremble and shake, and it was apparant that any longer, and the entire cavern would collapse. The first boulders began to loosen and tumble to the ground, and the ceiling began to fall, caving in towards them rapidly. Nova had gained ground, but the mage was nowhere to be seen under the rubble. Only a few feet away from the entrance, she skidded to an abrupt stop as a ton of rock fell, blocking the exit. Only one other option remained - deeper in to the mountain.
Pup whined when she skidded to a stop next to Nova. "All this rumbling and falling rocks are making it hard for me to hear anything. I can only follow you by smell at the moment."
"Well, I guess this means we need to find another way out." Theo says taking out two swords. The strikes them together and the sparks briefly lights the surroundings. He does that a couple times and moves around some things. Then striking his swords together a couple times he manages to make a makeshift torch out of some of the wizards possessions. "Well, looks like he won't be needing these things much." Theo says putting away a sword to have a free hand to hold his torch. He walked over to the pike of rock where the wizard was.
For a good moment, all was silent and still. Then, rays of blood-red light burst out from beneath the crumbled stone, and the boulders were thrown to the side. It seemed that the entire mountain was shaking, and it was difficult to hold footing.
Judging by the look on her face, it seemed Nova knew what they were up against. And she stepped back once more before an iron golemn, seemingly held together by molten lava that glowed from between its limbs burst out of the rubble. It had to remain in a crouched state to even fit in the tunnel, though wide it was, and the cave began to grow hotter with every passing minute, as the heat from the monster began to cook them alive in the enclosed space.
