Components

Basic vs Advanced

Winter of Wolves is a Rule-based RP, but that doesn't mean we want players to have to crunch numbers and learn the whole system to play. Pretty much all of the game can be played with basic rules, for which you only need to know the information written out here. Sometimes, there will be advanced rules which can be handled back stage by the GM, whenever you see text Written like this, these are advanced rules and you can feel free to ignore them if you don't want to get into the mechanics of the RP.

Almost any weapon, piece or armor or item in Winter of Wolves can be created from simpler materials by skilled characters. Components are simple items that can be crafted from raw materials and, while most have little use on their own, they can be used to create more more valuable and useful items.

To avoid complications, raw materials will be quantified in units, and the cost (in Guerrmarks) and weight described below corresponds to one unit of the material. Unlike raw materials, components may be purchased or created by charaters, so the materials and time necessary to make them will also be included in the description.

Metal Plate
After a particular metal is melted and the impurities are removed, it can be forged into metal plates for a variety of uses, from armor to the construction of weapons and utilitarian object.
Cost: 4 Guerrmarks
Weight: 3
Time: 4 Hrs
Materials: 2x Metal Ore

Metal Rod
Metal rods are faster and easier to make than metal plates an require less ore. They are useful when building supports and creating a metallic frame for less durable materials
Cost: 2 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 2 Hrs
Materials: 1x Metal Ore

Silver Ingot
Whereas silver ore is full of impurities and other minerals, a silver ignot has been refined into a block of much purer metal.
Cost: 12 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 4 Hrs
Materials: 2x Silver Ore

Gold Ingot
Much like silver, when the impurities of gold ore are removed, it can be molded into a single block of pure, valuable metal.
Cost: 16 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 4 Hrs
Materials: 2x Gold Ore

Rubber Tubing
Rubber, when shaped and vulcanized correctly, affords both flexible and highly resistant tubes and sheets which can be used for a variety of applications.
Cost: 4 Guerrmarks
Weight: 1
Time: 4 hrs
Materials: 1x Rubber

Adhesive
A different way to treat rubber produces a thick, elastic adhesive or rubber cement, that creates a strong bond between two objects once it's dry.
Cost: 4 Guerrmarks
Weight: 1
Time: 3 hrs
Materials: 1x Rubber

Yard of Cloth
Spinning wool into thread and then running it through a loom, a large yard of cloth can be used and then dyed into any color desirable. Necessary for most clothing.
Cost: 8 Guerrmark
Weight: 1
Time: 6 Hrs
Materials: 2 x Wool

Yard of Silk
In much the same way as the wool, a yard of silk is both soft, beautiful and allows the clothes made from it to breathe in the stiffling heat of the lower Royal city.
Cost: 18 Guerrmarks
Weight: 1
Time: 12 Hrs
Materials: 3 x Silk

Leather
After hide is tanned and prepared over several hours, the result is supple but resistant leather with a multitude of uses.
Cost: 2 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 12 Hrs
Materials: 1x Hide

Metal Chain
Chain has many uses, but requires more metal ore and time than other, simpler metallic implements.
Cost: 6 Guerrmarks
Weight: 3
Time: 8 Hrs
Materials: 3x Metal Ore

Rope
Cheaply to buy and quick to make, Rope is created by interweaving Wintergrass twine. Once finishes, it is dried and provides a useful cord.
Cost: 2 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 3 hrs
Materials: 2x Twine

Wire
Some metals, such as copper, are not used so much for their protective abilities. Instead, they are valued for their ability to conduct heat and electricity. After the long process of refining and forming the metal into wire, these capabilities can be put to use in engineered creations.
Cost: 4 Guerrmarks
Weight: 1
Time: 8 Hrs
Materials: 2x Metal Ore

String
String is made just like rope, only in a much smaller scale and out of wool fibers. The process is rather fast and yields an almost 1-1 conversion.
Cost: 4 Guerrmarks
Weight: 2
Time: 2 Hrs
Materials: 1x Wool

Silk String
Silk string is made out of silk in the same way regular string is out of wool. It is still a luxury but one most people are able to afford every now and then.
Cost: 6 Guerrmarks
Weight: 1
Time: 3 Hrs
Materials: 1x Silk

2013-07-14 [Duredhel]: Basically you use time skips :> I figure we might as well do something useful with those x-men style time skips, so whenever we timeskip, you'll get free hours for your char to spend. You can also decide your character is absent, working on stuff, for part of the day, but that keeps you from posting during that time XD
