"I like a good steak." Hugh said, pulling out from the larger city roads and starting down the more secluded country roads that would take them home "I don't always get time to prepare one though, which is a shame." She was just incredible... he wanted to snatch her up right now, but he doubted she would like suddenly being manhandled in a car.
"Well that's going to have to change. Since I'll be doing the cooking and cleaning we'll make sure you get your 3 meals a day." Becca smiled softly as she looked over at him. She was surprised the man was still walking, living off steak and tv dinners.
What was he thinking? Shaking her head she fished around in her purse for a pack of gum and pulled two pieces out. Popping one into her mouth she offered the other piece to Hugh. "Mmmm. I love this stuff."
Hugh took it gratefully and put it into his mouth. If she'd known what he was thinking right now she might have gotten out of the car right this second. He shifted uncomfortably as his body started to react to what he was having a day dream about. Bad idea. He couldn't cross his legs while driving, and he didn't fancy Becca catching sight of the bulge.
"Are you okay? Do you need me to drive?" When she thought about driving this massive truck she frowned. "I have an idea, when you get time tomorrow, you should take me to a car dealer so I can buy a car so that I have something to drive back and forth to town, instead of taking up your time. I'll need a car some day anyway." Shrugging her shoulders she smiled. "Or an SUV. Anything but this tank." She giggled softly, not even realizing he was having...sexua
l issues.
"Ah, alright... but make sure that it'll handle the trip out and back. These roads can get very troubled with snow and mud." at this point Hugh would agree to just about anything. His cheeks were a little flushed and his body seemed to be denying him any control over certain areas. "Sometimes a tank is what you need."
Becca wasn't sure how to take his last comment so she chose to ignore it. Nodding her head she smiled. "4x4 SUV, got it." She saw his ranch come into view just then and smiled. "Since it's about lunch time I figured I'd just make us up a few sandwiches."
"Alright." Hugh said with a nod, taking the truck around and pulling it up beside his ranch. He gave a small smile to Becca, then switched the engine off and hopped out of the truck. "You head inside and hide whatever it is you have there," he said, going around the truck and holding the key to the house out to Becca "I'll bring the stuff in."
Becca hopped out of the truck and grabbed the keys from his hand. "Thank you." As she started for the door, she called over her shoulder. "Do you have an extra set to the house?" Unlocking the kitchen door, she opened it and stepped inside before turning around and looking at Hugh for an answer.
"Yeah! They're out in the barn though. I'll get them later for you." Hugh called back, opening the truck from behind and starting to lift all the bags out at once. He didn't like doing more than one trip.
Becca set his keys on the counter before running upstairs and discarding her goodies into one of the drawers of her new dresser. Going to her suitcase, she unpacked a few things to put on top of it. Surely he wouldn't go snooping through her things just to see what she bought, but...you never know. Coming back downstairs she looked around and nodded. She'd really have to put some color into the boring house.
Hugh came in, two arms full of bags and muscles giving a slight ripple as he suspended everything she had bought in one go. Even though he wasn't quite as hard as earlier, there was still an unfortunate bulge, and with his arms full like this he couldn't quite protect himself. He just hoped that she didn't look in that direction while he was on his way over to the kitchen. Though, why she WOULD look down there was a mystery to him.
Becca gaped at him, carrying all the bags. The muscles of his arms rippling practically made her knees buckle. Her eyes traveled further down his body and was surprised to find a bulge in his pants. Blushing deeply she hurried down the stairs and over to help him with the bags. She wanted to get all the cold stuff into the fridge as fast as possible. "It's a good thing your center counter is so huge. I love that your stove is built into the counter!" She seemed so giddy just talking about a kitchen. Taking a few bags from his hands she began pulling things out and putting them away.
"Well I'm certain you'll find more use for it than I have." Hugh said, letting out a small laugh and wrapping one arm around Becca's waist, giving her a gentle hug. He was trying to help put stuff away, but he swore some of these things were from another planet. He wasn't quite sure where to put them, and after Becca had taken a few things off his hands to put them away for him, he just stood back and admired her.
After everything was put away she took several lunch meats, cheeses, and mayo out of the fridge. Placing them on the counter by the bread nook she opened it and pulled out the bread. She easily slathered on the mayo and began placing slices of meat and cheese onto the bread. Once both of their sandwiches were done she turned about and handed Hugh his, and took a bite out of her's as her eyes traveled over his body. Her eyes landed on his bulge once again and she blushed deeply. Oh god...and I have to sleep under the same roof as this man!
She could sleep under the same sheets if she wanted, and she knew that. Hugh took the sandwich with a gentle "Thank you." and started to eat it slowly. He was trying his best to not make it obvious that the bulge was still there, but he just didn't seem to be able to hide himself very well. The only way he could really hide it would be to face away from Becca, and that was something he didn't want to do.
"What do you have planned the rest of the day?" Done with her small sandwich she began putting their lunch stuff away. Grabbing a soda out of the fridge, she grabbed one for him as well and set it down in front of him, instead of moving it away she looked pointedly at his bulging crotch and smiled. "Because I think you'll need to get rid of that first."
Hugh turned a deep pink colour and blushed, but a smile came to his lips. He wrapped one arm around her, pulled her close and grinned at Becca "Well... I was thinking of a little riding. But I do wonder why that caught your gaze." His eyes were gazing into hers, sparkling slightly and asking... just what she was thinking.
Becca removed herself from his arms and cleared her throat uncomfortably. "Do you plan on teaching me?" Becca felt like they were moving in the wrong direction a bit. She didn't expect him to be to willing towards her. Running a hand through her hair she looked up at him in a confused manor. He sets her nerves crazy but she wasnt quite sure if that was a good thing or not. "I'll need to change first."
Hugh let out a small breath, but nodded slightly, a little disappointed smile on his lips. "Yes, I'll teach you. Now if you want. I haven't got much today, except for feeding them again tonight." He then usually balanced his books, but that could wait for another time. They were already pretty well calculated.
"Well maybe if there is time we can still go look for that SUV." Grinning she left the room and went to change. Locking the door behind her she slipped into her knew jeans, boots, and hat and sat on the bed for a few more moments. He was getting to friendly with her. She was just supposed to be here to cook and clean, keep him healthy and alive. But with him touching her she was having a hard time keeping it at just that. The last man she had just jumped in with had screwed her over, she didnt want that to happen again.
Hugh nodded to her, and since he already wore his clothes, he had nothing to do but wait. She had been close... familiar with him. Perhaps he had gotten the signs wrong, interpreted playful banter as something more. But she WAS sexy, and she had kissed him first. Maybe he should just... not do anything towards that way for a while. But how were you exactly meant to react to someone pointing out your erection?
Becca came back downstairs in her tight jeans, boots, and hat and twirled around for him. "Cowgirl material?" Smiling brightly she did a cute little dance, giddy at being able to ride Bolt. After they went riding she'd have to talk to him about her bipolar attitude. She knew she was being flirtatious, but she really just couldn't help with him, she was just so damn attracted to him. But like she said, she didn't want to get hurt.
Hugh nodded to her, grinning widely at Becca and standing up slowly "Perfect. Now, lets go out and get you on Bolt, shall we?" Checking his pockets to make sure they still had keys in them, he moved to the door and held it open for her. "I'll get the extra keys for you while we're out there," he said to her, trying not to stare too hard at the tight jeans "So you can come and go as you please."
"Awesome," Becca practically skipped down the stairs and back over to the truck. Sticking her hands into the back pockets of her pants as she crossed the yard. Suddenly a car came barreling down his driveway, causing her to stop in her tracks. "Are you expecting company?"
"No." Hugh said, frowning at the car that had come speeding down the driveway "And I don't recognise it either." He was worried by this. Not a day after Becca had arrived and a stranger had come to his home. This wasn't looking good.
The moment the car stopped a very familiar, good looking tall man stepped out of the car and removed his sunglasses. Becca backed up into Hugh and gasped. "Lucas..." Her body began to tremble as her ex-fiance walked towards her. "I just needed to see if for myself. My award winning fiance, cooking for a rancher. How sad." Becca's bottom lip trembled as she stared at him completely speechless. She hadn't talking to him since he broke off the engagement. This piece of information snapped her out of her trance. "Ex-fiance." Was her only comeback.
"Well sir. It looks as if you've made a grave mistake, coming onto private land for selfish reasons, and bothering this fine lady." Hugh said, stepping forward and frowning at the man... Lucas, or something. "I advise you to leave quickly and never bother her again." he was getting closer to him now, crossing his arms and scowling from beneath his hat.
Lucas ignored Hugh and looked at Becca, glancing from her eyes to her stomach. "I hear your pregnant." A sharp intake of breath could be heard as her eyes brimmed with tears. Becca shook her head and wrapped her arms around her body. "I lost it..." Several tears trickled down her cheeks as she turned and looked out in the direction that Bolt was, waiting for her. "Oh? Really? Well that's a relief, I didn't want to have to marry you because you got stupid." With that Lucas slid his sunglasses back down and got back into his car, and drove away. Hopefully for the last time.
Hugh's eyes flashed with anger at Lucas as he drove away. He almost felt like getting in his truck and driving after him until he stopped at the next lights, then just plowing straight over the guy's car. Instead though he turned around and went to Becca. She might not want it right now, but he pulled Becca close and hugged her tightly. "I can see why he's ex-fiance." he said gently to her, stroking her back slowly in an attempt to comfort her.
Becca wrapped her arms around him and smiled softly, almost chuckling, but her tears wouldnt allow it. "Actually, I'd be married to him right now if I hadn't caught him in bed with my...ex-best friend, Sarah." Laying her head on Hugh's chest she inhaled deeply. Calming herself slowly. "Im sorry you had to see that."
"It's alright." Hugh said softly, holding her close and stroking her head slowly "Remind me to show you where the shotgun's kept, in case he comes back one day while I'm not here." He wasn't kidding either. He was a rich man. This was a ranch. It wasn't really surprising he owned a gun for protection.
Becca pulled away and smiled. "Thank you. Now, come on, lets go riding." Tapping his cheek gently she moved away and hopped into the truck. Leaning back into her seat she closed her eyes and waited for him to get into the drivers side.
Hugh nodded, getting into the driver side of the car and starting it up again. He had to try his best not to turn after Lucas and drive over him, but he managed it and soon they were heading towards the horses. "Now," he said softly as they went along "We've got some riding tack in the horse pens, so you don't have to ride bareback. We can move up from there if you want, but saddles are always a good place to start."
Becca smiled and nodded gently. Excited to get on Bolt for the first time. "Is he easy to ride?" Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears and excitement. It wasn't long before they got to the horses, since this time they didnt have to stop anywhere. Once the truck came to a stop she jumped out and headed towards the fence, where she could see Bolt trotting towards them.
"Bolt's one of the easiest. Because he was brought up to be a little girl's toy pony, he's very tame." Hugh said as he got out of the truck as well. He smiled at Becca and Bolt, then whistled to him and said loudly "Alright Bolt, into the barn. We'll get you all saddled up for a ride, hmmm?" He just hoped Bolt would listen. If Becca got him too excited he might jump the gate to come see her.
Bolt looked down at Becca, awaiting for her to tell him what to do. Becca giggled and began walking to the barn. "To the barn." Bolt threw his head around a bit and trotted over and into the barn. Becca smiled and looked over her shoulder at Hugh. "He likes me better."
"Well he is one of our studs. He's a ladies man to heart." Hugh chuckled as he followed after Becca, going to the back of the barn where the gear for riding was kept. He chose one with a bit more leather padding, usually for first time riders, or those in need of a bit more padding. "Keep him busy while I set up will you? This gear can get a little complicated at times." he asked Becca. At least he didn't seem to have a whip back there. Not one she could see anyway.
Becca did as she was told, while Hugh put the saddle and saddle pad on Bolt. Smiling softly she stroked his cheeks and neck, all the while looking into his big brown eyes. "We're going to have a nice easy ride, aren't we? You wouldnt let me get hurt now would you?" She spoke softly to Bolt.
"I'm here if he decides to canter. But I'm sure you can stay on. You just have to grip on tight with your thighs." Hugh said as he arranged the saddle carefully, strapping it all down and coming forward to put the bit in Bolt's mouth, so she would be able to steer him. After that was all done he stood beside Bolt, smiled at Becca and said "Do you want a hand up onto his back?"
Becca looked at how high her foot would have to get before reaching the stirrup. Biting down onto her bottom lip she nodded her head. "Yes please." Releasing Bolt's neck she walked to his left side and placed her hands, one on the horn of the saddle and one on the Cantle.
"Stay still Bolt." Hugh's voice was hard. Not angry, or shouting, he just had a strange commanding snap to him that made it sound as if nothing would disobey him if he did it. He then laced his hands together and offered them to Becca. "Here. Use it to climb up." he said in the same soft way he'd been talking before "After you're up there don't put your feet in the stirrups yet. I have to adjust the straps."
Becca did as she was told and easily swung into the saddle. She left the reins around Bolt's neck for now and gripped the horn until he was done adjusting her straps. Looking around she smiled. She decided she liked beind up here. It felt good for some reason. She felt at home sitting in the saddle.
"That's great." Hugh said, stroking Bolt's cheek gently as he went around to adjust the other stirrup. "There." he said finally, with a wide grin up at Becca "Now, slip your feet into the stirrups and make sure you're nice and comfortable before we start off." He didn't realise one of his hands was resting gently on her leg as he spoke, the touch almost intimate.
Becca placed her feet into the stirrups and moved around a bit. Nodding her hand she smiled down at him. "Fells nice. I'm very comfortable up here."
"I'm glad you like it." Hugh said widely, grinning up at Becca before moving around to the front, stroking Bolt's muzzle slowly before starting to lead him along. "We'll walk around the barn a little bit," he said softly to her as he kept leading Bolt along "and then I'll bring you out, away from the other horses. We don't want him getting excited after all."
Becca shook her head. "That's okay. Why don't you saddle up a horse and join me? I'll be okay." Becca was confident that he and Bolt were going to get along just fine together. Smiling softly she reached down and strokes his neck. "Isn't that right?" Bolt bobbed his head as if he understood her, making her giggle.
"I'd rather have my eye on you two first. I'll join you next time, but for now, lets just go through the basics, hmmm?" Hugh was leading them towards the doors out to the front, where his car was parked. It was nice and open, a good place to ride along and he trusted Bolt wouldn't suddenly run off with Becca on his back. "Do you have his reigns nice and tight Becca?"
Becca held back the urge to roll her eyes. "Yes, sir." She replied sarcastically. "Not that it matters when your leading him around." She sat there with her back straight, doing absolutely nothing.
Hugh grinned up at her, letting out a small chuckle at her words "I'm just looking out for you your first time is all. If you want, I can let go and you just... go with what feels natural. I just won't be as near if you fall off."
"I'll be fine, Hugh. I am a big girl. And if I fall off, well...then I fall off." Smiling softly, she pressed her heals into Bolt's sides gently and eased him into a trot. She gracefully bumped up and down as he trotted along around the yard. Becca laughed out loud in happiness as the most wonderful feeling of joy washed over her.
It did make Hugh feel good, seeing a woman who had wanted to ride a horse actually getting to do it for their first time. The sense of freedom, the history behind it. He guessed that, back when she was young, Becca had wanted a pony and had never got one. From now on, in her head, this was her pony.
Becca pulled Bolt to a hault and wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning over the horn. Her hands patted in between his strong legs as his ears perked up, listening to her sweet words of happiness and praise. "That was wonderful."
Hugh smiled, carefully approaching Becca and grinning up at her "Only going for a quick ride today?" He looked up at her, astride that powerful horse, with the sun catching her like that. "It's pretty good for your first time, kept him nice and in control. But then again Bolt's your little horse isn't he?"
"Appears to be doesn't he?" Becca giggled and eased Bolt back into a nice slow trot for a few more minutes then came back to Hughe side. "I don't want to get too sore so I think that will be enough for today." handing her reins down to Hugh she slipped her feet out if the stirrups and dismounted.
Hugh tutted and patted Bolt's muzzle gently "Hear that boy? Bored of you already. Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be back tomorrow." He let out a small chuckle and pulled him along carefully, leading him back inside to get his gear off.
"I didn't say bored I said sore. Don't be putting words into my mouth." Becca followed after them and leaned on a stall door to watch Hugh take off Bolts saddle and bridle. Leaning her head against the door she smiled as the horse watched her intently his ears perked ever so slightly.
Hugh chuckled softly, taking the last of the tack off of Bolt and grinning to him. "Alright. If you're going to go see her go see her now. She's going to head inside in a bit." and with that he backed away, going to put the stuff away while Bolt and Becca had a little alone time. She seemed happier to be alone with that horse than with him.
Becca stepped over to Bolt and wrapped her arms around his neck as the horse pulled her against his haunches. Smiling, she laid her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes.
Hugh came back, sighing softly and shaking his head at her. He was just glad she'd gotten friendly with Bolt and not some of the more dangerous horses. Bolt was practically a princess' pony. Meanwhile his brother, Thunder... Well, the loud whinny outside and the kick against the barn wall was Thunder. That was all she needed to know.
"Let me start the chili real quick and then we can go and buy me a car." Giggling softly she kissed Bolt's cheek and turned back towards the house. Entering the house she quickly prepared a pot of chili and and placed it on the stove to get it warmed up slowly in time for dinner.
"She's going to run me out of money, I'm sure of it." Hugh sighed to Bolt, patting him gently and brushing him down before letting him back out. He'd hardly broken a sweat, but brushing down the horses was calming. Hugh was back in a little bit, just about the time she had finished with the chili. "Ready?" he called out from the door, checking his wallet again.
"Ready!" Becca came out the door with a jean jacket of her shoulders now, as if she were getting a bit chilly. Which she was. Slinging her purse over her shoulder and across her chest she walked over to Hugh and smiled. "I have pretty good credit so I should be able to get approved for a loan." Nodding her head she made her way over to his truck and climbed in, the jeans on her butt straining slightly against her ass.
Hugh licked his lips slightly, but he tried to avoid looking at Becca's backside. It was just too tempting, and she'd made it clear she didn't want anything. "Right... but... I'm buying you one. Why do we need a loan? I'm getting you a car." there had been a little miss-communication here. When she had said "buying her a car" he had thought that he was going to go down there, with his wallet, pull out a credit card, and purchase a car for her. No loan, no money on her end.
"Wait, what? Why are you buying me a car?" Becca turned towards him and stared at him in shock. "That's not a part of daddy's agreement..." Becca wasn't sure how to take this bit of information from him. Hes buying me a car? That's nice and all, but...where had it come from?
"Well, you said earlier that we would both head out and buy you a car... I guess I kinda imagined that you meant we both went out and I buy you a car. Not that you don't have money or credit or anything, it was just what came to mind first." Hugh started up the truck and started off, heading into town "Lets call it... a company car or something. It's fine. It's nothing."
Becca stared at him for a long long minute before she was able to speak up. "Hugh, are you sure?" Biting down on her bottom lip she watched him carefully. It was extremely nice for him to do this for it but it wasn't necessary. Folding her hands in her lap she frowned, removing her hat she set in between them. Running a hand through her long blonde hair she sat and stared out the window.
"Well, yeah, sure. Like you said, I own half the county." Hugh said with a little shrug "And it's a pretty big county. I've also got stocks and shares and all that... buying a single car isn't going to take much of a dent out of my spending. Hell, people ask me why I don't spend MORE." He carefully continued to drive along, the truck running barely bouncing on rough terrain "Any idea what you want?"
"I've always wanted a Mazda, I hear the CX 7 is a really good SUV. So if they have those at all, that would be awesome." Reaching across the truck she placed her hand on his arm and squeezed gently. "Thank you." Smiling softly she looked up at his face and watched him carefully. He really was a very handsome man, so handsome he could take your breath away.
"My pleasure Becca," Hugh replied gently, smiling at her as he drove towards the town, a slight blush on his cheeks as he cast a glance towards her "Make sure you find the one you really want."
Nodding Becca looked back out the windshield as the town came back into focus. "We didn't pass a dealer ship on the way earlier, did we not go far enough in to be able to see it?" Clasping her hands in her lap she waited in anticipation to see if this dealership actually had the vehicle she wanted. That would just be awesome! She'd never owned her own car before. Sure she got paid well enough to have one but she lived just down the road from the restaurant she worked at so she normally just walked the short distance. Now with town being so far away, and she didnt want to always take Hugh away from his duties to take her somewhere, it was just the smart thing to do.
"There's an SUV dealership further on in town," Hugh reassured her as he drove through the town, taking it nice and slow so he could look around for it "It gets pretty rocky and muddy out here so people find that they need to get themselves a new car after arriving." He took a deep breath, then grinned as he saw it in the distance. He pulled in very carefully, moving into the parking spaces available. "Here we are," he said gently, turning the truck's engine off and looking out of the windows at the SUV's all around the place "Shall we see if we can find it?"
Becca jumped out of the truck and began looking around. She knew a salesman would be out any second to talk to them, so she figured she'd hurry away and leave that to Hugh. Scanning the parking lot she noticed a few Mazda's off on the side and headed over to them. The first one to strike her attention was a Sky Blue SUV, but she knew instantly that it wasn't a CX 7. Going straight for the paper she read over it and frowned. CX 5? She'd never heard of it but she knew this was the one she wanted. Looking around for Hugh she bit down on her bottom lip.
The salesman who had pinned onto Hugh was looking more than a little happy. Hugh looked as if he was over his head dealing with the salesman, he just wound up staring at the man as the salesman seemed to almost dance around a shiny blue SUV. Becca could see the salesman's mouth moving a mile a second, jabbering on about the suspension and the mileage and the engine in it. Finally, after the salesman seemed just about ready to go fetch Hugh the key and get a contract, Hugh shook his head slowly. He raised a hand and pointed straight at Becca. She could see the salesman's face fall slightly as he realised that his pitch had been for nothing, but he instantly smiled again and made his way over to Becca. "Hello madam!" he said as he approached Becca "You're looking for an SUV today are you?"
Becca leaned against the blue SUV and smiled. "I am, but I found it and I don't need to look at anything else, nor do I need to get hear a lecture about it. I know enough about Mazda's. You just need to speak with Hugh about price." Crossing her arms over her chest she looked over at Hugh and smiled softly. Chewing on her bottom lip she watched him closely.
The salesman turned around again, looking at the stonefaced cowboy. Right. This was going to be... "Alright Ma'am, I'll go talk to your husband about price right now. I hope he knows what you like." He then almost scurried back off to Hugh's side, where he was obviously off put by the hard stare he was receiving. Hugh was large, and strong, but he also seemed smart enough that he was seeing through all the advertising the salesman was giving. And that troubled the man. He had to make a living off of this.
The salesman was obviously trying to add more and more items to it, colours and spoilers and wood paneling. He seemed to be telling him that his wife would love it. Hugh looked confused, then explained that this was a business car. The salesman's smile slipped again. That mean very few "pretty" items, if this was buying for a business. He looked back at Becca again, seemingly unhappy, then Hugh took the contract and started to tick away what he wanted. After a few details he handed it back to the salesman, who scurried off to a backroom to get the paperwork while Hugh approached Becca. "Sure this is the one you want?"
"Positive. Its exactly what I want. Thank you for this." Looking around the car she frowned. She really couldnt see inside very well due to the dark tint but that was okay, she loved the tint. It would make the inside of the car cooler. Leaning against the drivers door she waited for several minutes until the salesman came back with the keys and the contract needing Hugh finances.
"It's a bit strange... that he thought we were married..." Hugh said, sounding as if he was talking to himself before going back over to the salesman and starting to sign the papers necessary. It was done in a few moments, and the salesman almost drooled as Hugh produced his card as proof he could pay. Taking the keys, Hugh went back over to Becca and held them out to her "Here you go. You'll have to drive it back while I take the truck."
Becca looked at him in a "well duh" sort of way before snatching the keys from his hand and excitedly bounding over to her new car. Too bad it was under her name or anything. Smiling she unlocked the car and climbed in. Setting her purse down on the passenger seat she pearsd around at the gorgeous interior. Black leather seats with some blue every now and then, grey paneling and an awesome looking dash. Everything was digital. Iding her key into the ignition she started it up and did a little dance in her seat. "This is so awesome!"
Hugh chuckled, watching as she wriggled about in her seat, obviously very happy with the new car. He'd never seen someone so happy about a car before. Maybe it was because he was used to people who could buy five over breakfast and not blink. "I'm glad you like it," he said with a grin, wanting to give Becca a kiss on the cheek but thinking perhaps it wasn't a good idea, "Want to follow me back? Just in case you get lost." He backed off slowly, heading to go get into his own truck. It wasn't likely she'd lose sight of him in that monster.
Becca pulled her seat belt across her body and buckled it as she started her new car. Waiting for Hugh to pull out of the parking lot she smiled as she followed him home. Turning the radio on she flicked it to a familiar channel and began singing along. She'd have to remember to put a few CDs in it. The vehicle had a 6 disk cd changer so that was awesome. Glancing around she nodded, very happy with her new purchase. Or...Hugh's purchase. Biting her bottom lip she frowned. She'd have to find a way to pay him back.
Hugh wasn't even considering the idea of her paying him back. If he'd wanted her to pay him back he wouldn't have paid for it in the first place; she was a big girl after all, she could have got a loan, as she suggested. Maybe if he had thought of that he would have used it to get a little peak at what she had bought in the store. As he drove out of the parking lot it was absent from his mind however, just the prospect of what might be for dinner tonight.
They pulled into the driveway a short time later. Becca hopped out of the vehicle happily and locked it as she skipped into the house to stir the chili she had put together before they had left. It was simmering so she turned it down and took a test bite. Wonderful. She always loved her own cooking which was a good thing. Better to like it than hate it. Going around the kitchen she got the necessary things for dinner and set the table.
Hugh wasn't used to... this. He looked at the plates as if they were foreign to him, and frowned at the cutlery that he'd washed only a little while before. He felt as if he was lost inside his own house, and that was NOT a nice sensation to be experiencing. He stood in the doorway, watching Becca, and trying to watch only her hands and her face. "So... you do this kind of thing a lot?" he asked, wanting to know more about her job "Helping rich people not kill themselves?"
Becca let out a soft laugh and shook her head. "Ah, no. I was actually a very successful chef back in Dallas. This is my first job like this." Smiling she went back over to the pot of chili and stirred it around a bit, taking a final sip of it she deemed it ready to eat so she carried it over to the table and placed it on a hot pad. There plates we next to each other slightly, his at the head of the table her's to the right to they were sitting caddy corner to one another. Becca began spooning chili into first Hugh's bowl and then her own. There was cheese and crackers on the table if he so please, and also butter so she could put butter on he crackers and dip them into the chili.
Hugh joined her at the table, taking this as a silent announcement that food was ready. He looked down at the chili, a bit suspicious, but then carefully took a cracker from the plate and dipped it in. He tasted it, seemed thoughtful, then smiled at Becca and started eating some more. He wasn't used to chili, he liked it, but he didn't eat it much. So it was rather a nice treat to have an actual meal made by an actual chef. "'s good." he said, not being one very adept with words "I'm glad you're here to look after me."
"You'll say that until I put to much green in." Smiling, Becca began eating her chili. Sipping off of a spoon. It was delicious! The spice gave her mouth just a tinge of unease but not even to cause it any pain. Smiling she ate several spoon fulls before turning to Hugh. "So since we're going to be living together for a bit, is there anything that you'd like to know about me?"
It seemed a bit weak to Hugh, but then again the chili's he had in his own time had... well, one day he'd had to strip paint off the barn. The chili had been quite useful for that. "Well, I'm never quite sure what to say to people when they ask that. I guess, what you'd be willing to tell me. I don't pry, at least I try not to, but I sure as hell would like to know more about a pretty thing like you."
Becca blushed slightly as she stood to clear the table. "If your not done, I'll leave the chili and such." Moving over to the dishwasher she placed her bowl and spoon into it and closed the door. Leaning against the counter she watched him carefully. "Theres not much to tell...Im pretty much an open book. I was going to get married young, which would have been fine if my fiance wasn't a two timing asshole. I have no other siblings, just really close cousins who each volunteered to murder said fiance. I love animals, and most people. I am very much a daddies girl." Swallowing slowly she shrugged her shoulders. "My mother and I arent very close, she had always wanted a boy and I really couldnt give that to her." Chewing on he bottom lip she watched him carefully. "Anything else?"
"Stuff about you." Hugh said softly, chuckling and shaking his head, smiling still at Becca "That's all I meant. What you enjoy doing, apart from horse back riding and cooking of course. Any great passions you have? Do you enjoy music? Art? Anything that you would like to talk about really, I'm willing." What she had in that bag. That was something he'd really like to know.
"I like some art, but Im not really crazy about it. Music of course, I like just about everything as long as the beat is awesome. I love reading, Nora Roberts and Sherrilyn Kenyon are my two favorite authors. I hope to be as good as them some day." Becca bit down on her bottom lip as she realized that she had just admitted to being a writer. She decided to quickly change the subject. "Uh, I can dance but I dont really like people seeing it. I love singing, but I dont know if Im any good. Lucas always said that I sounded like a canary, but what exactly is that supposed to mean?" Letting out a soft laugh she shook her head.
"Well I'd sure love to hear you sing one day, and see you dance too, if you'd let me." Hugh smiled slightly as he said in a soft voice "I'd even like to read your writing. Maybe you could take a glimpse of some of mine in return." He did a little writing. Mostly poems, bad poems, poems that had nothing to do with hard work and getting things done. But he still wrote them... those silly bad poems. "Now, anything you would like to learn about me?" he asked, smiling at Becca.
"Oh no, you have to just come out with it like I did. No free bees." Becca smiled and picked up the rest of the dishes and put them away before going over to the fridge and pulling a premade dessert from the fridge. "I knew I wouldnt have time to make anything so I bought this." Setting the chocolate brownies on the table to cut them each one and handed him his before taking a bite out of hers.
"Well, I guess I am just a simple man. I do a little writing, don't get much reading done though." Hugh took a deep breath "I like my work. I like looking after animals and doing all the physical things. I can play a little guitar, but I ain't skilled or nothing." He carefully took a bite of the brownie "Ain't had a girlfriend for five years, so you don't have to worry about any lady turning up here but charity people and the occasional client..."
Becca nodded her head as she listened to him list things off about himself. He wasn't really at all what she had expected from a rancher. Shrugging her shoulders she finished her brownie and went to start the dishwasher. It was starting to get dark out as she busied herself with cleaning up. It had been a long tiring day and her feet ached. Hopefully she'd be able to sit down and prop her feet up soon.
Hugh was propping his feet up enough for the two of them. He was also gazing at her a little too intently. Not in malice, or as if he had any real intent behind the thinking. He was just... thinking. Thinking about that backside that wriggled in front of him. Thinking dreamily of what she must look like without her makeup on... and clothes... Mostly he was wondering about the clothes.
"Is there anything else you need from me, or am I free to go unpack?" Becca turned around to face Hugh and was surprised when she caught him watching her, almost staring at her. Raising an eyebrow in question, she wondered what he was staring at. Whipping her hands on a near by towel she shrugged then slipped off her boots, setting them by the back door.
"Hmm? Oh, no, that's all. Thank you very much for the meal. You can unpack if you want." Hugh brought himself around and smiled at Becca. He wasn't going to look embarrassed. He knew that would mean that he felt guilty. And he didn't feel guilty. She was cute, and looking did no harm. Not unless you looked a bit too much, and he wasn't that kind of man.
"You are very welcome." Placing the towel back where it belonged, Becca hurried up the stairs and into her room. Closing the door quietly behind her she went to her suitcase and began unpacking her things. Once she was done she'd go downstairs and read a book on the covered porch out back. Sit back and relax. She was done unpacking within a few moments. Looking around she found her little collection of books and picked one out. Making her way down stairs she walked out onto the porch and sat in the little day bed. Leaning back she opened up the book and began reading.
After a few moments there was a slight knock at the door on the back porch, and Hugh came through holding a cup. He smiled at her as he did, then came forward towards her "Thought I'd make you a cup of coffee, welcome you to the house, you know?" He looked around, then put it gently on the floor beside her. It was as black as could be "I didn't know how you like it, so I brought some creamer for you to do it how you want." He brought out a small carton of creamer, placing it next to the coffee.
Becca chewed on her bottom lip before picking up the cup and dumping a ton of creamer into it. "Im actually not a fan a fan of coffee, but Ill drink it, thank you. I much rather prefer hot cocoa, just for future reference." Becca winked playfully, not really hinting at anything but very much appreciating his sentiments.
"I should have asked... sorry." Hugh said, looking a little shy and scratching his chin as he watched Becca "You know, you could have just asked me to do it again." He swallowed hard, looked as if he wanted to say something more, then nodded to Becca "Spose I should leave you alone then, huh."
"You dont have too, I could always use the company. And the coffee is fine. No harm done." Cupping the warm mug in her hands she took a sip and smiled at the sweetness of all the creamer. Watching him over the rim of the mug she chewed on her bottom lip, trailing her eyes over him.
Hugh seemed to squirm for a second, then smiled and nodded to Becca "Sure. I'm not used to company, but it is nice to have it." He sat down carefully on the ground beside the chair she was occupying. Strange really for her employer to be squatting on the floor while she sat on the little bench there. "I just didn't want to bother you any, you know?"
"How about this, the minute you start...bothering me, I'll let you know." Smiling softly, Becca sat up and began massaging her sore feet. "Have you fed the animals?" Her eyes flickered out towards the pastures and smiled. She loved it here. She'd only been here a few hours and already she felt at home.
"I decided, since you were planning on going out, getting the car and preparing food, I would have one of my men come and handle that bit for me tonight." Hugh said with a nod "As much as I like looking after the animals, I'd rather look after you myself." He took a deep breath and smiled at Becca "If you're up in the morning you could help out."
"If I have time after making your breakfast. I have things around the house to do." Becca leaned back against the back rest and closed her eyes, allowing the warmth of the mug to seep into her body. A soft breeze rustled through the screens of the porch, lifting her hair just slightly.
She looked so pretty like that... like the greek statues of beautiful women, except without all the implied nudity and emerging from strange circumstances. "Well, I'd sure like you to be there, if you could be." Hugh admitted, seemingly unable to take his eyes off of her.
"Hugh, Im not meaning to sound mean or anything, but we really need to take it easy. Your my boss at the moment and Im not sure getting attracted to each other would be wise." Biting down on her bottom lip she stood and walked across the porch. "I'm heading to bed, enjoy the rest of your right." Entering the house she placed the mug in the sink and headed upstairs to bed. She left her door open and quickly changed into a night gown before slipping into bed and closing her eyes.
Hugh opened his mouth to say something, but it just didn't emerge. He swallowed, then sighed and nodded as she went inside to bed. He wouldn't stop her. He didn't want to stop her. Maybe he had been a little... strong, but it was the truth. He'd always been told that the truth was the most important aspect of a person, but it did get him in trouble. He took a deep breath, stood up, and went inside to bed as well. He had a feeling Becca was going to be cold to him tomorrow.
Becca awoke the next morning, showered and then went downstairs to prepare breakfast after slipping into a jean sun dress that reached just at the center of her thighs. She had the radio in the kitchen going so she sang and danced while she was cooking. A pot of coffee sat brewing on the counter, bacon sizzled and popped in the frying pan.
There was a noise of someone else in the house. Strangely enough however it was coming from the front room, not upstairs. Hugh came in, wiping his forehead, which was sweaty from a morning's hard work. "Ah, you're up." he said as he saw Becca cooking "Guess I'm more of an early riser than you..." He'd been out at work already. And had left her sleeping in as he went and hauled the food sacks around some more.
Becca looked over her shoulder and then down at the clock the was in the stove. "It's only 6:45. I dont think you have room to complain." Rolling her eyes she turned back to the breakfast she was busy making. Seeing that the bacon could just sit for a bit she turned and began setting the table.
"I ain't complaining. Not everyone was raised as I am, and I can't fault no body for that." Hugh said, shaking his head and wondering if Becca was going to have a short temper with him all day. He fell silent then, just letting the moment fall into awkward silence. He wasn't sure what to say to Becca now.
"Your breakfast is ready." Bringing a full plate of food over to the table, she set it down where he normally sat and walked back over to the stove to get hers. Just then her pocket began vibrating. Sighing she reached into it and pulled out her cell phone. There was a text from her best friend back home asking if he could come out and see her. Becca smiled for a moment before glancing over at Hugh. "I have a friend wondering if he can come and see me. Would that be alright with you?"
Hugh seemed to pause for a moment, as if really having to think about this. "Sure..." he said, starting to eat his breakfast and sounding as if he was very uncertain about this friend of hers. She'd been here less than a day after all. It felt strange having to open his home up to another person, an acquaintance of hers. But he didn't want to deny her this.
"It'll only be for a little while. Around lunch, most likely." Becca said as an after thought as she texted him back saying she'd make him lunch. "His name is Noah. I've known him for years. I think you'd like him.". A soft, fond smile spread across her face as she thought about this friend of hers. They'd always been close. Noah was the one who helped her through her hard times. Especially when it had come to Lucas and his betrayal. Sitting down at the table with her own breakfast, she began eating. She dabbed a bit of salt on her scrammbled eggs, the only way she liked eggs, and nibbled on it. "If I do say so myself, I love these eggs. Oh by the way. I only eat scrammbled so you'll have to let me know how you eat them from now on. That way you don't have to suffer by eating what I like." Becca seemed to be in a much better mood after hearing that Noah could come and visit her. Excited even not just cheerful.
"I'm fine with scrambled." Hugh said gently, still looking a bit uncertain about this guy. Could he trust Noah? How was he meant to get on with him? And were he and Becca somehow... involved. Is that why she was asking him over? To show that she had another interest, and Hugh should give up on this... this wonderful woman. He finished up his plate, wiping his mouth on a napkin as he remained thoughtful. "So... this Noah guy... you and him..." Hugh left the words blank after that, hoping that Becca filled them in.
"Noah is my best friend. He's always there for me when I need a shoulder To cry on or a date for something." Giggling she chewed on a piece of bacon and sighed as if remembering something about him. "He means the world to me. Thank you for letting him come out here and see me." Becca hadn't really answered his question but that was okay since it really didn't need to be answered anyway.
It sounded as if Noah was an unfortunate member of the friend zone... At least, any man who hung around a beautiful woman like Becca would probably want to go out with her. Perhaps Becca hadn't seen it yet. "It's fine." Hugh said gently, waving her thanks off "If you're living here as well I might as well try to make you comfortable." He was trying very hard not to hit on her.
"Well thank you. I thought that lunch time would be better, that way he didn't disturb your work anymore than I have." Finished with her breakfast, she finished off her chocolate milk before collecting her dishes and putting them in the dishwasher. "Are you finished?"
"Yes." Hugh pushed his plate towards her, the food had been picked over and mostly eaten, but still his slightly off mood had killed his appetite. "So what's the plan for the rest of the day?" he asked, standing up and brushing off his trousers, which had a bit of dust from outside on them. He just wondered what Becca planned to do all day.
"I had planned on doing laundry until he got here. Cleaning, vacuuming. Your sheets need to be washed." Shrugging her shoulders she took his dish over to the sink and brushed the food into the garbage disposal before putting the dishes in the dishwasher and started it before turning on the water and starting the disposal. Finished she turned towards Hugh and shrugged. "What do you have planned?"
"Seven until nine I have to do some paper work, after that I look at the mail I get. It should be here in a little bit. Don't try to lift the bag yourself." Hugh said gently "After that it's usually lunch time. I'll probably have to work while having lunch, after feeding the animals, because I made sure that the house was alright for you to arrive in yesterday."
Becca nodded her head. Moving over to the table she removed the place mats and table cloth. Rolling them into a ball she headed for the laundry room and began her first load. Doing everything she needed to start the load, she placed it into the washer. Leaving the room she headed upstairs to gather the rest of the laundry.
Hugh was in his study at that time, writing on multiple pieces of paper which were stacked high in a little "in" tray. His door was open, letting the wind come through, so he occasionally caught a glimpse of Becca moving throughout the house. It was rather surprising the amount of paperwork he had. About ten minutes after he'd started the sound of a truck could be heard outside. Hugh got up from his work, moved past Becca as she went to get the rest of the laundry, and headed out to meet the driver.
"Another bundle of you Mister Xanadu," the driver said, climbing out from a postal van and moving around to the back, "I swear you keep the post office in business around here." There was a thud as a large sack of mail was dumped on the floor in front of him. Instead of the postman digging through to find Hugh's mail, they merely shook hands and Hugh walked off with the entire bag. He was hauling this full mailbag all the way up to his study again.
A few hours later a motorcycle rumbled down the drive. Becca let out a happy scream as she darted through the house. Bursting through the front door she flew into the open arms of Noah who had already climbed off the bike and removed his helmet. Wrapped in each others arms, Noah leaned down and inhaled deeply, burying his face in her neck. "Mmm you smell good kitty cat." Becca laughed cheerfully and pulled back slightly to look into his eyes. "I made your favorite dessert." They both knew she meant a homemade brown sheet. Smiling she led him inside and straight for the kitchen. Stir fry sizzled on the stove, just about ready. "Sit down and chat with me while I set the table." Noah slapped her ass and did as she said. Plopping down he crossed one ankle over the other to watch her. "Damn have I missed you..." Becca came over to set the table but Noah pulled her down into his lap. He had always shown his feelings for her. Always been open about it. Becca on the other hand wasn't sure how she felt for him. Giggling she shook her head and went to stand but Noah held onto her tightly. "Kitty cat, I really really have missed you." Leaning forward he pressed his lips against hers in a friendly kiss.
Hugh had come down the moment he'd heard the girly scream that signaled Noah's arrival. He didn't actually manage to find where Noah and Becca were straight away, looking around before arriving in the kitchen... just in time to watch Becca and Noah kiss... Not a good start. "Hello." he said with a nod, trying not to sound cold and angry, and only slightly managing to pull that off "Spose you must be Noah."
Becca jumped off of Noah's lap and turned around to look at Hugh. "Oh, Hugh, I'm sorry. Yes this is Noah. Noah this is my boss, Hugh Xanadu." placing her hand on Noah's shoulder she smiled proudly. "Sit down. Lunch should be ready." Hurrying around the table she finished setting the table before moving over to the stove to get the frying pan. Coming back to the table she started filling their plates. "I've also got dessert so make sure to save room."
Hugh sat down at the table opposite Noah, unable to stop glaring at the man who had been kissing Becca a moment ago. "Pleased to meet you," he managed to say without gritting his teeth, "Becca said you're her best friend in the whole world. So tell me, what do you do Noah?" What was the expression? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer? well right now Noah seemed like quite an enemy to Hugh's interests.
"I'm a mechanic, I fix Harley's mainly. But if someone needs something else done I can fix it." Noah spoke between bites as he glanced from Hugh to Becca. Noah knew the look in Hughs eyes, it was a look of distrust and jealousy. Grinning around his food he practically laughed. He's always had feelings for Becca but has never gone for them. "How long do you plan on keeping Becca from us?"
"As long as she wants to stay." Hugh said simply, and honestly "She's here to look after me. I tried to make the pay good and accommodate her around here. But it's a job. I can't force her to stay, and I wouldn't want to force her to stay. If she thinks I'm fit and healthy, she's welcome to leave. If she wants to stay around for a while, she can do that too."
Becca stood to get the dessert but stopped halfway to place a soft kiss on Hugh's cheek. "Thanks, thats sweet of you." Smiling, she patted his shoulder before continuing over to the counter to get the still warm brownie. Cutting out a few pieces she placed them each on a small plate and handed them out. Taking her seat once again she took a bite out of the brownie and smiled. Noah did the same thing only he groaned when the chocolate touched his tongue. "Mmmm...Damn girl..."
"Thank you." Hugh said gently as he took his brownie. He bit into it, but remained silent. Perhaps you could tell from his slow smile and closed eyes he was enjoying it, but he didn't exactly moan like Noah did. He was taking his time enjoying the brownie, so it was actually a while before he bit into his desert for a second time.
Becca sat back and slowly ate her brownie as she watched the boys enjoy their brownies. "Thank you." Finished with her brownie she crossed her arms over her chest and sighed contently. "Just leave your plates, I'll get to them soon enough." Noah pulled a small box out of his jacket and slid it across the table at Becca and smiled. "I gotcha somethin." Becca reached out and picked up the box and slowly opened it. In it was a small ring with blue stones. Sapphires. "Oh, Noah, it's beautiful! Thank you!" Jumping to her feet she ran over and hugged him tightly. Noah took the ring out of the box for her and slipped it on the ring finger of her right hand. "I knew you'd like it..."
A bit... strange... to get a friend a gift like that. Ah hell, the man fixed motors. Sure, he probably made some money, but this was just extravagant. Hugh almost felt guilty for wanting to be with Becca now. It's not that Noah had spent more money than he had on Becca, hell, the car was probably more than that ring, but Noah's money was harder earned. It was more... special. "Very nice." Hugh admitted as he gazed at the ring on Becca's finger.
"I'd thought that maybe you'd forgotten." Becca's face was slightly sad as she looked at Noah. He let out a soft laugh and shook his head. "Of course I didn't forget your birthday, I just couldn't find anything good enough, and then I saw this. I thought it was perfect." Becca hugged Noah once again, while in the middle of the hug Noah stood and lifted her easily off the ground before kissing her cheek and setting her back down. "Well Kitty Cat, I gotta go. No need to walk me out, I can find the way. Ill have to come out and take you to the movies some time." Becca smiled softly and nodded her head. "I'd like that. Thanks for coming out. Drive. Safe." The last part she said slowly and pronounced each syllable clearly. Noah chuckled and headed for the door with a wave over his head. Becca plopped back down into her chair and smiled at Hugh. "So, what do you have planned for the rest of the day?"
"Oh come on, that's what you have to say?" Hugh said, sounding a little hurt as he watched her just settle in front of him "A guy comes over here, kisses you, gives you a ring and is CLEARLY in love with you, and that's the first thing after he's gone." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair "That ring must have cost a lot of money."
"It may have. But Noah has always gotten me expensive gifts for my birthday. It isn't as if he can't afford it. The boys loaded. What does him loving me have to do with anything? Noah knows I don't feel that way about him." Crossing her arms over her chest for a moment she sighed. Frustrated, she began clearing the table. "I don't really see why any of this concerns you. You didn't know me or anything about me until...what yesterday. Why should you care?"
"Because... because I like you." Hugh muttered, frowning slightly and staring down at the table "And you know I do. You said yourself it was a going... too far... and I mean I would quite happily back off, but then you sit a guy down and just..." He sighed softly and shook his head "I got jealous. I'm sorry."
"But you barely know me. How can you like a woman you don't even know." Sighing she braced her hands on the sink and stared out the window. She physically shook as she contemplated what to say to him. "Look, if we're going to make this situation work then you can't get jealous when Noah comes to visit. He is just a friend and that is all he'll ever be." Turning around to look at him she frowned, growing angry once again. "And when the time comes for me to decide who I want to be with, it may not be you. So you'll just have to deal with it." Instead of standing there to finish talking she burst out the door and headed for the horse pastier. Bolt of course was there waiting for her. Smiling softly, she slipped through the boards of the fence, climbing up them a little bit, she slipped her leg over his bare back and allowed him to move about freely, wherever he wanted.
"Was just telling the truth." Hugh said flatly as she ran out the door, taking a deep breath and slipping away to go follow her. She didn't even give him a chance to explain anything to her. It sounded as if this Noah guy had been given a bit of a rough ride as well, but Hugh couldn't blame her for not being with him. People liked different types. One of the other things that got to him as that... well... seeing Noah being romantic but having no chance with her had been a rather troubling idea of what awaited him in the future.
Becca dug her heals gently into Bolts side, easing him into a canter as she darted away from the ranch, or a hill and out of sight. She knew this was technically stealing his horse but she was still on his property. So it wasn't that bad. She just needed to get away.
It was still pretty rude. Hugh went outside, only in time to see the backend of Bolt running away. He sighed as he saw her going... then slowly began to walk after her. It would take ages to find her, talk to her, but he would try. It might not be very good for his heart... but he was going to try.
Becca found what would be called a spring, wrapped around the base of a tree and spanning several yards. Smiling softly she dismounted so that her and Bolt could both get a drink. Sitting down beside Bolt she sat quietly, waiting for her mind to clear and her body to relax.
As fit as his body was, there was only so fast a man with a heart condition could go. Hugh was still going, following the trail of hoof prints. He was having to organise someone to look after the animals again via his mobile, but they always seemed to accept the over time. It would be a while before he found her... she had time.
Leaning against a near by tree she sighed heavily and closed her eyes. Sure Hugh was very attractive and sexy but he didn't seem very...well...manly. At least not like Noah. Shaking her head she frowned. This had nothing to do with Noah. She was just getting more and more frustrated as the time passed.
The whole situation was a matter of time really. Perhaps Hugh would have reacted more like that if she'd given him time, but he was still a little nervous about pleasing her. Still, he could have told her this if she hadn't rode off into the distance and left him walking after her very slowly. Perhaps her idea of manly wasn't so great as well, considering the way she was treated by her previous fiance.
Calmed down and finally breathing normally again Becca stood and mounted Bolt. It was time to get home. And talk this out with Hugh. Trotting along the path she glanced around and noticed Hugh walking in her direction. Sighing heavily she stopped Bolt and waited until Hugh was close.
Hugh was breathing deeply. Not heavily, that would indicate he was short on breath, but he was breathing deeply, as if he was trying to force his lungs to keep working. He coughed slightly as he paused beside Bolt before saying "You coulda... let me respond."
"At that moment, I didnt really want to hear what you had to say." Holding her arm out to him she nodded. "Come on, you can 'respond' on the way back to the house."
