My Elven Dream
As I look through the mists,
The mists of time and space,
As I look through them, I see
A very familiar face.
I walk toward him for a
Wonderful, smiling embrace,
But all I see, in the end,
Is the beautiful chase
Of the light on his dark hair,
As fine as elven lace,
And the lightness of his step,
The mark of elven grace.
Greyscale
All around me I have friends
That accept my life and let me in
They urge me to be happy for them
I try, I try to let them win
But I sit alone in the grey
I watch them, the others
Silently, jealously watching them
THEY have a way into the colors
I love my friends and I wish
That I could find my way back
But here I stay, away from them
Lost, alone in the black
The white glares into me
I see by its harsh light my pain
My joy, my fear, my anger
All colors swirling down the drain
"Be happy, be happy!" they cry
But I know they will always fail
While I let out another sad sigh
With my life on the greyscale
Unknowing Captive
The moonlight glows behind the door
And like a shimmer by the shore
I can't catch you anymore
You're always so far away
Dancing alone in your simple way
Softly singing like a fae
But while you dance you are alone
And though you fly across the foam
You will never be coming home
If you'd see it's just a cage
That it's a public watching stage
I wonder if you'd be enraged...
Oh little elf, be happy
In the place set for thee
And you say "I am free!"
I wonder that you don't see
You are in captivity
As you say "I am ME"...
I'm Still Waiting - For [
Arthin]
I wait all day to talk to him
He never seems to be there
I wish that he would take some time
I wish that he would care
But the minutes turn to hours
The hours into days
Still sitting in my chair
Waiting for him anyway
"Hey, can you talk?"
"Hey, you done yet?"
"My friend, are you there?"
"Whenever you're on,
I'm still waiting
For you... to care."
Day after day, week after week
I wait and hope and wonder
Does he still like me?
Is our friendship going under?
I know I've changed a lot
Maybe he doesn't like that
Perhaps I should not act
So much like a kender brat
"Hey, can you talk?"
"Hey, you done yet?"
"My friend, are you there?"
"Whenever you're on,
I'm still waiting
For you... to care."
Still I wait for him
I keep myself busy
I try not to ask questions,
They make me dizzy
Ah, here he comes
I have a few minutes now
I talk and afterward
I am reminded how -
"Hey, can you talk?"
"Hey, you done yet?"
"My friend, are you there?"
"Whenever you're on,
I'm still waiting
Because I know you care."
Never To Be Mine
I walk through the sunshine
That lights this cheerful road
I feel the warmth and I admire
The glinting where it snowed.
I see the grass, glowing,
Green in the misty spring,
I hear the creek flowing
And the wind whistling.
Then shadows fall upon the sky
The wind wails mournfully
I feel the whirl of fate
Twist the dream away from me.
I feel myself falling down
And call into the deep abyss -
"I guess he never will be mine...
And I never will be his."
