We had Doberman's and the police in one area told us that because it was considered a "dangerous breed" that if they should see it lose, even if it had tags and did nothing to suggest that it was viscious, they would SHOOT IT ON SITE! 2005-04-18 [abandonedhouse7 7]: Hi, I'm just commenting on this wiki cos I think its great. I dont own a dog that's been branded "viscious" ( I own a whippet: if they get called viscious let me know!) but recently in my area an Alsatian was shot on sight because it had maimed and killed 12 lambs. Admittedly, that was reasonably justified, but now Alsatians have been branded violent and dangerous which is really horrible, cos I love all dogs. I think humans should look at themselves before they expect dogs to be perfect.

2005-04-19 [HiddenFire]: I find it humorous that the breed of dog mostly likely to bite you is the toy poodle. I actually worked at two different animal care clinics... and I can back that up. Toy poodles are snappy little buggers. They have a tendency to be neurotic... and they also have a tendency to bite out of fear. But most of them are sweet. Still... no telling howmany times I've been bitten by a little dog... actually, Ithink I knew more viscious little dogs than any other size... I just think it's funny.
2005-04-19 [Archeress of Mirkwood]: Yes, it's true, little dogs do have a tendency to be more aggressive, but since they are so little you never hear of a toy poodle mauling... or a chiauahauh mauling... so they don't get bad names. >.<
2005-04-19 [HiddenFire]: They might not maul but they can still cause you to need stitches. I still find it funny... that in a study that determines the breeds statistically most likely to bite you, the bit is fourth from the bottom and the toy poodle is at the top. To me, that's funny.
