Yasai took a breath and exhaled trying to ignore his instincts. His hand slowly withdrew from his whiskey as he smiled at Espin. "Sorry it's just, when you lived here as long as I have you learn that this many new faces means there's typically 5 people of concern on the station..a mercenary, a bounty hunter, a heavy drinker, a brawler, and a guy no body should get on the bad side of...when you combine those darlin, bad things start to happen. We should get a room and wait this out for a while before we make our next move. Well atleast I am going to get away from here for a bit, ill be around if you need me." Yasai walked out into the main hallway as he bumped in Rui, and paused. His eyes shocked at first as he looked around and back at him. "Whatever it was, I didnt do it."
Rui's eyes focused on Yasai as he let out a soft annoyed sigh "..This day just does not seem to get any better...look, I just want a drink, you listened to me and left my ship, with that bomb, as was agreed, I'm not here to kill you... " he spoke before adding "..at the moment anyway" Rui continued passed Yasai into the tavern.
Yasai looked around one last time before letting go of his pistol grip and walking down the hall disappearing around the corner near the hotel area. "And there's the guy no one should mess with".
A young woman with a bag over her should walked through the station. For one who looked past the grubby coveralls and smudges on her face, she was actually rather pretty. Avandra stopped to look around herself. As long as she'd been traveling, she'd never actually been on Station Omega before. She just needed to keep from getting mugged long enough to find a ship in need of a mechanic.
Yasai thought too himself as he walked down the main hallway towards his ship. He had his hands tucked in the pockets of his coat, and as a pair of new security forces walked his way he looked down at the ground and fast walked past them right into Avandra.
He didn't hit her hard, but she'd been ogling a ship through the nearby windows and wasn't paying attention when Yasai ran into her. Avandra sprawled on the ground, her bag sliding a few feet from her. She looked dumbfounded for a moment before scrambling after her bag.
Yasai grabbed her bag, and offered her his hand with a smirk, one of his pistols could be seen as his coat was unbuttoned. "New too the station huh?"
Avandra looked a little wary of him, especially as she eyed the weapon under his coat, but she smiled and accepted his hand, allowing him to help her up. "Yeah, the ship I was on stopped for supplies and I figured this was as good a place as any to find somethin' new." She had a slightly rural accent, indicating that she probably came from a smaller, more secluded planet. She held her hand out for the bag, still smiling.
Yasai pulled her up and handed her the bag before dusting off his hands, and smirking. "What were you doing on your other ship?" He eyes her suspiciously, trying to figure out what she did without oming off as interrogating.
"I'm a mechanic." Avandra told Yasai cheerfully, "All kinds of machines, but I love star ships best."
Yasai smiled, and looked over his shoulder once while rubbing the stuble on his face. He looked back at her, and folded his arms. "What ship are you working on?"
"None now." Avandra told him, "Like I said, I'm lookin' for somethin' new. You know of any good ships in need of a mechanic?"
Yasai tried hard not to smirk again but found it forming on his face none the less, as he looked out the window of the station at his ship. "I know of one, but she is a real fixer upper!"
Avandra followed his eyes out the window and slung her bag back over her shoulder as she moved closer. Her eyes swept over the ship, searching it. She could usually name the model or at least the make of any ship she came across, but this one...She kept seeing elements that looked familiar, but none of them seemed to match. "What is she? A franken-ship?" She asked curiously over her shoulder.
Yasai laughed, and buttoned his coat up as he turned to face her. "that my friend is the Miss Fortune! Fastest ship around, and boy can she dance!"
"So I take it she's yours?" Avandra observed, still eying the ship, "Who built her?"
Yasai pulled a pair of black leather gloves out of his coat pocket and began to put them on as he watched her expression. "I did, when I was in my late teens, She's a hybrid. I can mine with her, smelt alloy, weld, along with mass trans, and even Terraform a planet if needed. Although I never tested the last one out, but maybe one day I'll try it on a moon to be safe."
Avandra looked impressed, "She's nice for a custom build." She'd seen some pretty trashy custom ships, especially way out on the fringe where she came from. "What are her specs?"
Yasai motioned for her to follow him as he walked to the airlock and slide a card thru it opening the doors with a hiss, as he stepped thru into the wallway to his ship. "Well its built around the power core which I borrowed from a Dreadnought I found floating in a distant solar system, I hand built the fusing rod for mining, used some old nano technology to infuse micro plasma cells into the titanium alloy, that I smelted myself from a ship grave yard. I found the guidance system from a Federation Icarus class scout frigate that I bought half destroyed off some unfriendly pirates for a few C02 cooled kegs of hallucinogens. The..Guidance systems were...half destroyed, so I had to build the other half from salvaged parts. The plasma engines are cooled by 6 Hydrocell turbines, and considering that I even have 2 plasma engines in a smaller ship like this made of transluminem alloy, should give you an idea of how fast this ship can fly. It's virtually impossible to over heat or to to max out."
Avandra let out a whistle, "She sounds like somethin' else." She told him as she followed him, pausing at the entrance to the airlock, "You're not gonna get me onto your ship and then jump me or something, are ya?" There was a mix of emotions on her face. A smirk that told him she was partly joking, suspicion, but also eagerness. She wanted to see that ship from the inside.
Yasai laughed at her, and then ran his hand along the side of his ship. "no offense lady but ou dont loook like the best selection for wealth."
Avandra's smirk widened into a smile, "A girl can't be too careful." Wealth hadn't been her major worry, but you didn't get anywhere by not trusting anybody. She stepped into the airlock with him, all but bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement.
A massive ship had just finished docking and off walked a large man and attractive looking woman both in military uniform's but not that of the Federation or the Republic.
Divina walked to the observation point and looked at her ship, tears in her eyes. "Vance... I... I don't know what to do... Wane was the only man who could work on the SD system."
Vance placed his hand on her shoulder. "Come on Dee. He can't be the only one in the hole damn system who can work on that system can he?" Vance was not all that happy either, it had been over a year now and the first death on the ship was non combat related...
"They would have to be a damned savant with modern engineering. I would not even Image anyone being able to work on it on like him." Divina started crying and thrust herself into Vance's chest. His arms falling around her "He was my friend Vance. He has a wife, and children. What do I tell them?!"
Yasai froze as he looked out a small window into the docking bay to see the massive ship that just docked. He couldn't believe his eyes. a ship so different spec's, and full of life. He couldn't help but stare as he turned around and walked back out into the corridor, and down the hallway towards where it docked. "sorry lady, I never seen a ship like that, i have to get a closer look...today is full of surprises.."
The slightly oil smudged Avandra was one step ahead of him. She'd never seen anything like that ship. She practically pressed her face to the window then turned to speak to the two who had disembarked before suddenly realizing the woman was crying.
Vance, Held his Divina, and then saw the two approach. "Dee, we will pay his contract pay out to his family for as long as we are up and running. It's not that big a deal to louse the money he was more than due to his family."
Divina sighed than dried her tears. "I can take lousing men in combat Vance, but we were in the middle of an SD jump, and he was just doing routeen maintenance... Sigh. We need a new mechanic-" Dee stop seeing the two had been watching them for a bit. "Umm... I'm sorry, I was making a seen." She extended her hand to the both of them. "I'm Captain Kader, Of the Spirit of Fire. Can I help you?"
Vance keep his guard up. His sister was far more trusting than she should be considering the number of missions they have run for both the Fed's, the Republic, and criminal originations. By the look of the two it was hard to tell the man in his federation coat and the girl... well no one is innocent.
Yasai smiled at the two, and looked at their ship as he rubbed the stubble on his face, and then looked back at them. "who flies this bus?"
"Bus?" Avandra exclaimed, turning to stare out the window again, "She's amazing!"
Divina retraced her hand, and smiled. "I take shifts with the three other helmsmen, but I am Captain. Nothing happens in regard to ship movement without my say so. And honestly, in combat, I only trust one of them to take stick over me... Well other than my ace in the hole..." Divina was still sad about the loss of her friend, but a couple days in relative time allowed her to get over the loss, but it was the first time she felt she could cry about it. No one was asking her for input, her orders, or to sign off on papers. "I don't think I got your names..." Her eyes narrowed now noticing the Federation Jacket, and wondered if the man was a bounty hunter...
Vance let his hand casually slide onto his hip, just above his holder and the other left to hang. He merely watched the man and wondered about his background...
Yasai, was just about to mention his ship to them as lights and sirens started to go off around them. The doors all sealed shut and locked, and a womans voice could be heard calling code black as soldiers ran past them. "Well this cant be good, Ive never seen them this serious before, i wonder whats going on."
Avandra looked around wide-eyed, "What's a code black?" she asked nobody in particular
Vance placed his hand on his pistol and released the safety, this could be bad. If the republic had gotten tired of the way they were operating with no loyalty to either side the best way to do it would be to as for a huge job before taking them out. They were here to get the second half of there pay after all.
"It's not good, it might mean the station is under armed attack from the way they are reacting." Divina looked at the young girl and the man, "You work out of this station often?"
Yasai looked around nervous, as he pulled his access card from his pocket and swiped it on the door behind him only to have the light flash red, and the key pad read "access denied". I practicly live on this station but im getting the feeling I wont be for much longer, so what kind of resupply are you here for?" He pulled two thin wires out of his pocket with gater clips on the ends, as he talked too them he pulled a touch pad computer out of his left pocket, and started to assemble the two together.
Avandra shook her head, "It's my first time." She looked a little nervous.
a voice was heard over the comm system female in nature although there seemed to be a bit of struggle over the microphone "..no red, red i got it! stop!..oh.. the feed is live! damn it red!..umm Good afternoon soldiers of station omega! This is Carla of the Battleship Starfyre, My companion RED has you're system under his control, and I currently have a particle beam cannon charged, and locked onto your station...I suggest standing down, and letting my captain through. He has no problem being blown to bits instead of being taken prisoner."
"We are here to meet a contact and get paid-" as the female voice cut through Divina looked angry, by targeting the station... They targeted her ship. "Resuply can wait until I get my ship clear of the mess this station has become... My pay as well." Divina then flipped on her communicator. "Bridge, captin-report what the hell is happening with this station?! Are they charging a particle cannon or not?!"
Vance waisted no time in drawing his pistol and standing guard over Yasai, his pistol let hidden from passing or tokes behind his back. "Work fast bro, or we are up s creed."
Yasai quickly pressed a few buttons on his touch pad, before attaching the other end of the gator clips to the card reader on the door and swiping his door. The light flashed green and a picture of an officer appeared on the screen next to the card reader which read "Access Granted". A speaker on the door talking with a womans voice as the door unlocked and slid open. "Welcome major General Brickton." Yasai pointed to his ship and started to run for it. "Im guessing from the size of your ship, you have a little space for me to dock, from there you guys undock your ship and we get out of here!"
Avandra looked lost and even a bit frightened. Put her in the engine room of a ship and she knew exactly what to do, but out here on a space station, she didn't know what to do with herself. She hadn't exactly been invited, but she stuck close to Yasai. That fact that he was the most familiar thing here made her feel just slightly better.
Divina smiled brightly and ran after Yasai, "he's smart, he's cute, and he takes charge... What a dream. If he could fly half as well as he thinks on his feet I'm in love." As Divina ran down the hall she commed the ship. "This is The Captain. Release the ship, and be ready to revieve us on landing dock one. The pilot will have our comm soon."
"No time to be lost cutie. The station is about to fry." Vance saw the look in Avandra's face and scooped her up over his shoulder before running onto the ship. "No reason for you to burn with it now-" Vance then registered what his sister had just said about the mysterious stranger in the long Fed coat. "What the frack did you just say, Dee?"
"Acknowledged, Divina, the ship is ready for launch now, and will retreat to minimal safe distance to await docking. Aria out."
Gun fire erupted on the station, as Yasai ran onto his ship. He dashed to his chair in the cockpit and started to flick switches on the control panel as his ship started to hum and buzz. It was clear this was no ordinary ship from the sounds alone. "Sounds like a war zone out there!" As everyone stepped onto the ship, the ramp closed behind them, and began to pressurize. "This is your captain speaking, please keep all hands feet, heads and any other appendages you may so desire to stick out side my ship inside at all times, please buckle up, unless told other wise by our lovely...well we don't have a flight attendant anymore, so please just stay buckled, this is a smoke friendly flight, so smoke em if you got em, and we here at the Omega quadrant would just like to say thank you for flying with the Aboard the Miss Fortune, enjoy your ride!" His ship gave a sudden thrust away from the station and went silent except for the very minor hum from the engine room.
Avandra yelped as Vance threw her over her shoulder, though she didn't protest. She clung tightly to her sack until they were aboard the Miss Fortune.
Vance and Divina wasted no time following Aboard the Miss Fortune. Vance placing the young over his shoulder into a chair, and finding his own next to Divina.
Divina found the seat closest to Yasai, and smiled at him before realizing. "Aria just outed me over the open net! Who the hell dose she think she is!?"
