Delaney decended the stairs. She'd woken up with Kurt already gone. His lack of scent aggravated her, she couldn't follow where he'd gone.
Kurt walked up behind her, silent as a stalking cat, he had melded his feet intot he shadows so they didn't even make a sound int his dimension.
Delaney sighed as she decided to check the kitchen. She turned around quickly and slammed into her husband. She bounced of him and stumbeled back "Damnit Kurt where have you been?"
Kurt grinned and took her hand in his, loving the way it felt even after all these years. "Waiting for you to come out of our room."
"I've been looking for you all morning."
Delaney told him "We've got students ariving any minuet. Emma and Scott said they'd be late remember? They got stuck in Spain on the flight back. WE have to receve the new students."
Kurt shrugged and pulled her into his arms. He kissed her softly and grinned. "So what? That doesn't mean we can't have a little time together before they get here. All the more reason to really. Besides, there's no better way to bring in new students then to give them a crash course on training, isn't that what Logan would say?"
"But there is paperwork to do."
Delaney told him "We have to get them in their rooms first. I'm not going to be the one Emma bitches at because you loose a students information papers."
Kurt rolled his eyes and fully materialized in the hallway. "You used to be more fun."
"You weren't saying that last night."
Delaney told him with a sly smile before stepping out of his arms "Besides, Laura's coming this way."
Kurt sighed and kissed her softly as she pulled away. "Lets just get these new students ready so we can go back to having private time."
"Private time ended when the school year began Kurt."
Delaney said with a smile
Laura rounded the corner. Immediatly she raised her eyebrow "What are you doing?"
"Enjoying our last few minutes of peace and quiet."
Kurt said with a grin. He squeezed Del's hand tightly. "Let's go and greet them, shall we?"
"Alone time ended when the first cap pulled up outside." Logan said coming into the hall
"Why don't you do the meet and greet old man?"
Kurt said sneering at him. Even though he had been married to Delaney for years now, he still got into a few fights with Logan. They had an understanding now and most of the fights had nothing to do with each other.
"Cause kid, Emma wants the kids to be greated by a couple." Logan told him "Something about showing them a stable enviroment."
"What's more stable thana guy who won't die?"
Kurt asked him with a grin
Before Logan could come back with a remark Laura blinked and simply said "Your dumb."
Delaney laughed. It wasn't often Laura made a judgement about someone out loud and Delaney often wondered if Laura fully understood the meaning of humor.
Kurt blinked and looked at Laura, "Oh great, now I've got two people against me." He clentched Del's hand tightly
"What do you expect?" Logan smiled "She is my clone."
Delaney chuckeled.
Kurt shook his head, "Just cuz she's your clone doesn't mean she's you, Logan."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the realm this morning."
Delaney smirked
Kurt shot her a look and found himself grinning. "Funny." He took her hand a little tightly. "Let's go greet the new students."
Delaney smiled, grabbed the clipboard she had left by the door and opened the doors. A yellow cab waited outside. The first of the new semester students.
Logan followed her out with Laura behind him.
the school grounds
The doors where opened by logan who led the first of the new semester into the hall.
Laura brought up the rear.
Crys walked in and looked up from her gameboy only briefly. "Nice place." She looked back down and moved Link through the maze of grass, smiling softly
"Ya mind putting that thing away?" Logan asked her
Crys looked at him and growled, clutching her gameboy protectively. "Yes I do mind."
"Look kid." Logan began "We can do this the easy way, the hard way or my way. You could turn it off and keep it. I could confiscate it till the end of term or I could slice it in half. Which do you prefer?"
Laura smiled slightly behind the group.
"I prefer you trying to come and get it. I'll stop you easily, you crazy old man."
Crys said definately. "I keep my game on and you leave me alone. You come near me and you're going down ok?"
Quietly from behind Laura reached under Chrys' arm and snatched the gameboy from her hand.
"Or there is the other option." Logan smiled
"I'll give it back once the tour is over." Laura told Chrys. She found the menu setting and saved the game. She then flipped the switch off.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Crys shrieked and leaped onto Laura. "Give it back!!! You can't take my gameboy! I NEED IT!!!!"
Laura quickly spun out of Chry's grasp and repeated her statement "I'll give it back later."
"Give it back!" Crys repeated, making a grab for it.
"No." Laura said darkly
"Give it Back!!!! You don't understand!!!!" Crys screamed as she tried to grab it again
"Your powers are tied to computer generated images and games." Laura said "What don't I understand?"
"The fact that you need to give that back!!!" Crys demanded, then it sunk in that Laura must have read up on her. "I need my gameboy. Please...I'm normal without it."
The door opened Dlaney was showing in another student "End of discution." She said "You get it back afte the tour or not at all."
"But Mrs. Smith, I need my gameboy...please make her give it back." Crys pleaded
"I'm not going to do that." Delaney told her "I could hear everything from outside. he asked you to turn it off and you didn't. You'll get it back after the tour and if you say one more thing about it I'll see that you only get to train with pac man."
Joselyn walked into the entrance hall and quietly waited, watching what was going on between several people.
Crys looked at her and pouted. "But I need my gameboy back...please Mrs. Smith."
"What did I just say?" Delaney said darkly. This girl was wearing thin on her patience.
"But Mrs. Smith...." Crys pleaded, tears forming in her eyes.
Delaney said nothing. She was trying to be the nice guy and that usualy didn't work. Kurt had always been better at that. Already she was wanting to take the device from Laura and smash it into the marbel floor.
Kurt walked in and sensed the tension immediately. He probed Crys's mind, wondering why it was so important for her to have her gameboy back. He grabbed Delaney's arm when he had the answer.
Joselyn looked between the student, Delaney and Kurt curious.
Joss stood quietly in the corner.
Delaney felt Kurt grab her arm. "What?" she asked in her mind knowing he would hear her.
"Give it back." Kurt said out loud. He then explained himself to Del in her mind. She's in love. She needs the gameboy, hun. I kow how it felt to be there.
"Love requires sacrifice." Delaney told him. "Logan you're going to take them to the danger room right?"
"Yeah." Logan said
Delaney turned to Crys. "The danger room is a training program. You'll get it back there but not yet. Logan and Laura will sow you to your rooms and the classes. Then you can have it back."
Crys pouted slightly and wiped her tears away, she turned and looked at Kurt, hoping he could give it back to her now.
"I'm sorry. You'll have to just wait." Kurt told her, wishing he could tell her what she wanted to hear. Being teacher was tough.
Java followed the exchange with a look of mild amusement, and gave a small laugh of sympathy for Crystal. "To be honest, I don't think you'd ever be considered normal, gameboy or no," she said in Crystal's ear, trying to be helpful.
Standing close enough to catch her words, Joselyn grinned and looked off to the side. "Who of us could be considered normal, anyway?" she said under her breath.
"I mean I have no powers without it..." Crys told Java quietly.
Daine walked into the entrance hall, stretching her arms and hiding a yawn behind her hand, embarrassed she'd only just woken up half an hour ago, what with all the new students arriving today. "Morning Delaney, Kurt, Logan, Laura," she said, smiling and waving her hand. Pushing her hair back behind her ears, which were naturally pointed, she smiled at the new students and pocketed her hands. "It's nice to see new faces around here."
Java grinned back. "It's nice to be a new face! Well, not really, but--you know what I mean."
"I do indeed," Daine said, laughing. She walked over to the group of newcomers, studying each face with curiousity. "So what might I call you?" she asked, turning toward the girl that had spoken.
"My name's Java Kaikura. You can call me by my first or my last name, they're both first names." She gives a bright smile and shifts her luggage to her other arm. "What's your name?"
"That's a nice name. I'm Ms. Stone, but you can call me Daine, I much prefer it over my last name," she said, smiling.
"Oh, okay. Thank you." Java offered a hand to shake. "Nice to meet you."
Daine took Java's hand and shook it, nodding her head and smiling. "It's nice to meet you too, Java. I hope you like it here. There's a lot to love about this place."
"Daine?" Crys asked looking at her, sparkles shining in her eyes. "Are you really a fairy???"
Daine looked at the girl that had addressed her for a moment and she smiled, fluttering her wings, having forgotten she'd left them out. Leaning forward she held out a hand toward the girl as a tiny bird appeared in her hand, rustled it's feathers and then took off and dispersed into bits of light and color, fading away. "I suppose I could be," she said, her wings pulling into her shoulder blades and disappearing. "But then that depends on what you believe a fairy is."
"and that would depend on a person's perception a a fairy." Delaney said sliding Chrys' game boy into her back pocket.
Chrys looked at Delaney and sneered softly. "A fairy is simply put a magical being with wings of an insect, like her beautiful butterfly style, which happens to be common in fairy people, who possess magical abilities, which she just showed with the cute little bird..." She turned back to Daine just in time to see her wings disappeared into her back. "Where'd they go? They were so pretty..."
"Into my shoulder blades," Daine explained. "Makes it easier to get through doorways, honest." Looking off momentarily she began to grin. "Do you think fairy tales were inspired by mutants?"
Crys shakes her head. "I don't know for sure, I just know that you look like the Healing Fountain Fairies in my Zelda games!"
Daine laughed and nodded her head. "I won't deny that," she said. "I've played Zelda a few times and I know what you're talking about." She paused and crossed her arms across her chest. "You know, I might have to take some time to look into fairytales, you know, refresh my memory on them and pick at the details...hmmm..." Daine looked at the floor, lost in thought.
Crys looked at her and smiled. "You have got tos how me your wings again sometime! Like we've got this tour thingy right now, but can i see them again?"
"Of course you can see them again," Daine assured her, nodding her head as she snapped back into reality and put away her thoughts for a free moment. "It's not like I'm moving out of the school anytime soon."
Delaney leaned towards Laura and whispered "Me and this girl ain't gonna get along."
Kurt took his wife's hand softly. "I'm sure she isn't as bad as you think hun." he whispered with a smile
"Kurt when did you stop trusting my instincts?" Delaney smiled at him
"When they told you I was the wrong guy for you." Kurt said and kissed her cheek softly
"That subject is still under debate." Del told her husband
"Ouch, burned." Kurt whispered softly, looking her in the eyes. "I know they were wrong."
"Whatever." Del Told him
Crys looked at Logan, "Mr. Logan, can we take that tour now?"
"C'mon kids." Logan said "Lets get going."
"I'm going out to the grounds," Daine said, waving at the group and smiling. "See everyone around!" With that she left the entrance hall.
Joselyn watched Daine go curiously and then followed the group, dragging along her luggage and looking around quietly.
Java gave a little wave goodbye at Daine, then followed Logan, cradling her luggage in her arms.
"Hold it Logan." Delaney said "Another is coming."
Corey pushed through the door. "Sorry! Sorry."
"No your right on time." Delaney told Corey
Having walked the new student into the building, Daine went back outside in case other students showed up soon.
"Come on kids." Logan said starting them off toward the recreation room
Daine walked into the Entrance Hall with a new student. She paused, extended her ears so she could hear better and then continued walking, heading toward The Dormrooms.
Daine walked back out to The School Grounds.
Pulling Casey's suitcase behind her, Daine walked into the Main Entrance Hall, the door being held open for her.
Delaney smelled the air and turned to Diane "Casey back already?"
"Casey?" Kurt asked his wife curiously, trying to remember who Casey was
Casey walked back in, thanking the door opener. She flashed a smile at Kurt. "Yo." She suddenly turned back to Daine. "Wait, married? To Ghost? Seriously?"
"Yeah, seriously," Daine said, grinning. She hooked her thumbs onto her back pockets, having sat the rolling suitcase upright for the moment. "Ghost and I are married to one another."
Delaney smiled "Kurt and I too." She chimed "Six years." The last was sort of a question as she looked at Kurt. He was the one to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries in their relationship.
Logan had opened a com from the danger room. "Del we're having problems shutting down teh Danger Room. Can you send Kurt down here? I need him to shadowport Laura out."
Casey ran her fingers through her hair. "Wow. I leave for a few years and everyone up and marries." The Antimony (ooc: blood mercury--I just renamed it) that composed the suitcase beside her formed a tall, skinny groom and adorned her with a sticky black wedding veil. She brushed it aside. "Y'know, Ghost made the hall bleed for me once. I never forgot it."
"Ok." Delaney's was both to Casey and Logan. She turned to Kurt. "I wonder whats wrong with the Danger Room. Beast checked everything yesturday. Said it was normal."
"What's this about a danger room?" Casey asked.
"I duno." Delaney said. She peeked out the window and told the time by the sun. Noon, that was probably all of the students for now and Beast would be back soon. If anyone came in he'd take care of regestration. "You haven't met Laura yet have you?" She turned back to Kurt "Take all of us down there, she won't believe it." She smiled. Not many old alumni knew about her adopted sister and Logan's cloan.
"It's been six years already? Time flies doesn't it." Kurt. said taking her hand and squeezing it. His face grew sulen as he heard Logan ask for him. "Gotta love how he says to send me down. After six years of being married to his grand daughter, you'd think he'd warm up to me a bit." He pulled Del close to him and focused. The entire hallway grew black as night as the portal was opened. Slowly each and every one of the sank down into it, taking them to the danger room`
Joselyn walked quickly toward the entrance door, quite set out getting outside.
After stopping briefly at her room to change the strips of cloth around her hands to actual bandages, Daine walked into the Entrance Hall as Emma had instructed.
Emma Scott and Hank entered the school
Hank immedialty went to Daine seeing her hands bloody "We should go to my lab and get you checked out."
Just then Delaney Kurt, Logan and Laura entyered the entrance hall
"What happened?" Scott asked immediatly
"Nuthin much outta the ordinary." LOgan said "Danger Room went nuts, tried to kill us."
"We beat it though." Laura offered.
"Oh hey Tom." Delaney said as he breathed against her neck. She had spotted his scent as soon as he entered the entrance hall. It did take her a moment to place his scent though.
"You've been here ten years or so?" Emma asked "You should be used to making out reports by now Kurtis."
Daine nodded her head in response to Hank.
"Well...technically, the new students defeated Danger." Kurt corrected Laura, a smirk on his face. "Pretty interesting how they did it too."
"Yes with a Pac-Man simulation I know." Emma said
"Pac-Man?" Scott asked
"yeah, it was Logan's idea." Delaney said
"What?" Scott asked
"It worked." Logan said gruffely
Hank directed Diane to the lower levels
"She's got some pretty amazing power really." Kurt told the others. "Crystal Li(or was it Lee? lol), she brings characters or items out of her video games. Brought me back fromt he dead twice in there. Not to mention bringing Pacman out and taking down Danger. Before she tried that, she tried Link, from four swords. Four little evles jumping around slashing at Danger. Something to see,t hat's for sure." He took a breath and lowered his head as he finished his report
"Someone has a crush." Delaney scoffed
"Yes. On you, my dear wife." Kurt replied and kissed her passionately. "Crys saved my life twice tonight, that's not something you look passed easily. And even though it was Logan's idea, it was her pwoer that took out Danger."
"But she's a pain in the ass." Logan said
"I will agree with that one." Delaney smiled
"Same is said about you, old man." kurt sneered at Logan. "She's new, and probably a bit nervous. We all were when we came here."
Morgan followed her teachers out of the Danger Room. She rolled her eyes a bit after she noticed that they were all just standing around talking. After running her fingers through her short hair, Morgan just took a good long look at her surroundings.
Casey left the Danger room and appeared in the Entrance hall. "Hey," She greeted in passing. She went out to the front of the school.
Crys yawned as she walked. Her stomach growled loudly and looked at the teachers. "Ummmm where can we get something to eat?"
Daine walked back into the main entrance hall after Hank had taken care of her wounds.
"The School Commissary is through there," Delaney told her pointing at the hall to their left.
Joss exited the elevator quietly.
"Thanks!" Crys called as she bolted for the commissary
Morgan followed the others.
Joselyn walked into the entrance hall just as Delaney pointed out where the commissary was and walked toward that general direction.
Joss followed the girls into the commissary
Hank renetered the entrance hall
"I will expect everyone's reports in my office by tomorrow." Scott said
Tom walked into the entrance hall smiling from ear to ear. He walked up behind Delaney and breathed down her neck "Hello again Delaney." For all his adventures and aging, he still enjoyed making people jump.
"I already gave my report, you mean I have to write it out?" Kurt asked him curiously, somewhat offended
"It shouldn't take very long, Kurt," Daine said, glancing between him and Scott, her hands folded neatly in front of her.
Casey meandered in from the school grounds. "Oh, good. Hey, uh, whatsyerface," she said, addressing Hank. "You're the techie around these parts, right? I got some anti-mutation sludge on me. Any way to get it off?"
Tom heard what asey said and concentrated on the slime, removing it from Casey's body and levitating it some way away. "If you need anything about slime or liquids, im your guy." he said proudly.
Casey watched the sludge levitate away. Slowly, the numbness faded, and she was rubbing life into the blood mercury as if it was a limb she had fallen asleep on. The blood mercury stored in her belt leapt up to her back, forming wings there. "Thanks....very much," she said with some surprise. "I will keep you in mind the next time I get submerged in distasteful liquids."
"Many people do" Tom said, smiling and summoning the slime infront of him. The slime shrank and guided its way into a test tube the Tom was holding. He brought the tube to his eyes and examined it. "We should test this stuff."
"That stuff should have disappeared when the simulations ended. I'd say that Hank should study it, Tom." Kurt pointed out. "It's a hologram and we're outside of the holo-simulators now. It shouldn't be here."
"Weird, I wonder if it has anything to do with the danger room projecting the field around the school?" Tom said, staring at the liquid. "Are we going to have people going into the danger room and starting it, only to have the people to arrive out here?"
"I don't think we could start it up if we wanted to. When Danger was destroyed, she took a massive chunk of the room with her." Kurt explained
"More for me and Beast to fix..." Tom mumbled, tucking the liquid away. "Im teaching here if your wondering why Im here." he pulled out the piece of paper he'd been loooking at ages ago "It says here 'Head of Underwater training' so I'll need the danger room for my more advanced classes."
"Looks like you'll be goin on field trips, Tom." Kurt told him with a grin. "Cuz I don't know about the rest of you, but I was in there, and personally I wouldn't want to risk it happening again. So as far as I'm concerned, the Danger Room should be closed until further notice. Not until every bug has been worked out of it. I'm sure Hank will agree with me on that."
Tom shrugged "I'll do my first few classes in the pools and then later on, if the danger room's still messed up we'll go to the sea."
