Just as he said this the door began to open slowly, a boy backing into the hall carrying some suitcases. His hair appeared to be holding some but the moment he turned around and saw everyone his hair dropped the bags on his foot. "Ouch" he said, hopping around for a second.
Joselyn entered the main entrance hall from the commissary and leaned against the wall, watching everyone for lack of anything better to do.
The boy smacked his own head forcfully, shaking his hand as if he'd injured it afterwards. He tried to pick up his cases but kept dropping them because he couldn't kepp a grip.
Pushing off of the wall,
Joselyn walked over to the boy by the door and picked up his suitcases. "Come on, I'll take them to your dorm room for you," she said.
"The danger room will be closed until we can make the proper repairs." Scott told them all "Hank and I will study what happened with teh danger room and we'll fall back on the defences to train the kids. Tom the lake and pools will work until we get the DR up and running again. Logan your in charge of the defence training after I set up the carriculum. Laura your with Logan. Delaney try mapping out a secton of the woods to use for a few training simulations. Kurt, your with del."
"Thank you" the boy said gratefully "I don't know why HE stopped helping me." His face fell for a moment "I don't know what my dorm room is though."
Tom gave a cheeky salute to Scott. "Yes sah" he said, clicking his heels together.
"The way we went about it, we just picked one out,"
Joselyn said and started walking toward the dorms. She eyed him curiously when she heard the pronoun he used. "He?"
"Ummm" the boy said, looking upwards. His dreadlocks suddenly began to writhe like snakes and joined together to create a hand, it waved at Joselyn. "I guess he needs a name.." the boy said "Mine's
Arthur by the way, Arthur Phillips."
Kurt grinned and took Del's hand softly. He loved when Scott assigned them to work together. Some part of him assumed it was because Scott understood what it was like to be newly weds and not wanting to be apart for any amount of time.
Joselyn stiffled a giggle and grinned, nodding her head in response to the waving dreadlock hand. "All things need names, after all," Joselyn commented. "I'm Joselyn Coeur. Nice to make your acquaintance, Arthur. The dorms are this way." And she walked off to
The Dormrooms, carrying Arthur's bags.
Arthur looked round at a tap on the shoulder, only to see his own hair leaning over to him. "What?" he asked, slightly worried, his hair liked playing tricks on him. His hair began to shift and sqirm, slowly turning into the shape of a padlock. It pointed at the shape it made as if it wanted something. "Padlock?" Arthur asked "Wait, I get it. Locks. You want that to be your name?" He felt himself nod, but the hair was doing this itself. "Ok then, Locks it is." He quickly ran after Joselyn.
Joselyn re-entered the entrance hall after helping Arthur with his bags and took up her position against the wall once more.
Arthur walked down the stairs, looking slightly comical as he played against Locks at a video game. He was sticking his toungue out in concentration and Locks was mimicing him, letting a stray dreadlock stick out at an odd angle.
Java wandered in, a little lost. "So, uh, sir?" She asked Scott. "When does the semester start?"
"Good question."
Tom said, letting his arms fall back down "When do I have to start teaching?"
"Monday." Emma said as if it was obvious. "The kids have the weekend to get setteled."
Tom eyed the bedraggled staff and checked the slime in the tube. "They desrve it" he said, shaking the slime slowly.
Lyra walked litteraly "threw" the frond door. She was carrying a few suit cases and wearing a navy blue suit. "Greetings all." She said happily as she set down her cases.
Tom, who had been standing staring into space and thinking about his new job froze suddenly, his entire body shivvered. He didn't turn, he couldn't. All he could do was stare at the ceiling as if it held all his hopes and dreams. He hoped it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him again, he had heared her voice repeatedly when he had been working over the years but it had only been in his own head. His hands began to sweat, still facing away from Lyra.
Hank's face beamed for a moment s he saw his protogee` "Lyra my darling girl!" he exclaimed "How was India? I read your disertation published in the American Medical Journal. How I wish I could have gone with you."
"Oh India was fine."
Lyra chimed giving him a hug instead of shaking his hand. "I read about what happened in Genosha. I wish I could have been there."
Hank chuckeled "All water under the bridge as they say."
"I'm sure."
Lyra said. her eyes darkened for a moment remembering what she'd read.
Tom kept staring at the ceiling. He'd read Lyra's article aswell, hell he'd cut it out and put it in his bags. He realised that he'd left his bags outside due to the incident with the danger room. He dropped a small ball of water and it rolled over to the door slipping through them to outside. He shuddered abit again as he remembered what happened in Genosha.
Lyra saw the bottle roll by her foot and looked up to seek out it's origins "Hello Tom." She said delicatly.
Tom twitched when he heard Lyra saying his name. He stood still for a second and then as fast as lightening he spun round. He jumped and grabbed Lyra in a hug, knocking her sideways slightly. "HELLO!" he shouted, hugging her tightly.
"Goodness."
Lyra laughed and hugged her old frined in return. "How have you been?"
"I've been"
Tom stopped for a second, thinking about what he could say being how most of his later life was classified "Busy." He hugged her tightly, very happy to see her again "How are you?"
"Longing to be busy."
Lyra said "I should never have left. But I'm now a PHD... well not
A PHD, I have a few now." She smiled coyly.
Tom gave her a look. "Sounds like you were VERY busy."
"Oh no I recieved my PHD's while teaching here at the school."
Lyra explained "I speant a year in India researching my disertation about how genetic mutations can tie back to Indian folklore. I came back a few weeks ago and aside from a few interviews my life has been very dull. I can't wait to take a go in the Danger Room."
Tom scratched his head. "Sorry about this but the danger room packed up a short while ago." He gave an evil grin "But we could train against each other, bet you can beat me."
"I bet I could too."
Lyra smiled "But what happened to the Danger Room?"
"It's a long story." Emma yawned
"I don't know the whole thing"
Tom said, finnaly letting go of Lyra "But it seems it went on the fritz and attacked everyone."
"A week, huh? Cool!"
Java grinned. "I'll be in my new room, for those who care. Bye!" She bounced up the stairs to her dorm room.
"That's a bit of an understatement
." Logan said
"You should know Im the king of Understatments by now" Tom said, smiling broadly. "And the master of melodramatics."
Arthur dodged sideways as Java bounced up the stairs, causing his hair to crash it vehicle at the last moment and for him to win. "Yes" he said, still slowly waling down the stairs.
"That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea," Joselyn mused to herself and pushed off the wall, heading off to her room. Using her mutation in doors had worn her out and she needed a nap.
Arthur just stood there, watching everyone go to bed. "So what am I meant to do?" he asked to noone in general.
"Explore the grounds and meet the rest of the students." Delaney asnwered. "CLasses dont start till monday. Tonight there is going to be a banquet. The teachers will introduce ourselves and we'll lay out the class plan."
Hydro let out a small yelp "Wait, I'm meant to do what now?" his face began to turn white as he realised he was meant to make a speach.
Morgan led Joss and Crys into the entrance hall.
Crys followed eagerly wanting to explore the mansion
Arthur gave a little nonexpressive "eh" when they said he should look round the place. He sidled in behind Morgan and the others almost without thinking, still playing his own hair at Mario Kart.
Crys looked at the new kid and noticed his hair was alive. "Whoah!" She walked over to him and looked at the gameboy. "Mario kart?! Against your hair??? COOL!!!!!" She stared at the hair and grinned. "I'm Crys by the way. I bring video games to life. Do you do anything other thant he living hair????"
Arthur jumped, not realising he had walked among other people. "Wuh? Oh.. um, no nothing else. Just the hair" his hair flailed wildly, still gripping the DS "OK! Ok. His name is Locks and he is alive and mental." Locks didn't seem to mind being called mental. "I'm Arthur, nice to meet you." he looked down at his game "So you could get a kart out of this?"
"Ooook" Morgan uttered after watching Cry's excitement.
"Yup! And it would be super cool and all that. I could take one of the blue shells out or anything really. It would be just like it is in the game to! And it's a pleasure to meet you Locks." Crys responded and did a fancy and dramatic bow. She looked over her shoulder and sneered at Morgan
"Joss Miller." Joss said quietly putting forth his hand
Arthur shook Joss' hand, quickly followed by Locks standing upright on Arthur's head and bowing back Crys. After Arthur beat his hair down abit, accompaneid by a small but viscous fight with Locks, he looked up at Crys "Thats cool." he said between short gasps.
Morgan just smirked. She put her hands behind her head and leaned on them.
Crys giggled as Locks bowed to her. "So what other games do you have, Arthur?"
Arthur thought for a second. "Can't name them all... One of those Wii thingies with some games. Locks likes that" Locks writhed and became a face, each hair becoming a muscle in the face. Locks smiled with his hairy lips "See. Anyway, I got Metroid, Lostmagic and Animal crossing for the DS..."
"So much for our awesome popularity..." Morgan said aloud.
Casey glanced over at Arthur and grinned. Blood mercury gathered on her head and imitated Locks, waving a strand of hair in his direction. "Ever heard of Rocket Jockey?" She asked both Crys and Arthur.
Morgan walked towards the other end of the hall, "I feel sooooo out of place." she said to herself.
"You have a Wii?????? My mom works for Nintendo and I don't have one yet!!!" Crys declared and pounced on Arthur and Locks. "You gotta let me play!!!"
Casey cocked an eyebrow. "Guess not." She climbed the stairs up to her room.
Java passed her and attempted a cheerful "Hi!", which was ignored. Shrugging it off, she glided down the stairs, and over to Morgan, stopping awkwardly. "Hiya!"
Morgan turned in Java's direction, "Hello."
"Guess the kids are getting along alright." Delaney said crossing her arms and leaning against teh wall in her usual fashion
Locks waved at the blood mercury on Casey with a dreadlock before crumpling under Crys with Arthur. "yeah I have one" Arthur mumbled, Locks squirming wildly under Crys.
"Let's go play! Please please please please please...." Crys pleaded as Locks squirmed under her. She grinned and broke the pounce and looked at Arthur with puppy dog eyes. "Pwease?"
"At least we won't have to worry about any of the usual high school crap." Kurt said and lightly took his wife's hand. He smiled and squeezed it. "Let's go write those reports for Scott."
"Ok, ok." Arthur said, starting to walk up the stairs. Locks took Crys' hand and led her after them as they walked through the corridor to Arthur's room.
"I'm...not sure if we got properly introduced, and if we did, I don't remember it," Java said apologetically. "Terrible memory and all that. Like a goldfish. My names Java Kaikura--you can call me either, they're both first names." She offered a hand and a smile.
"Morgan Trice," she replied, shaking her hand, "No, we weren't introduced properly." After a moment of silence, Morgan tried to break the ice, "So...your a swimmer then?"
Java blinked. "I can swim, sure! I'm better at track, though. Why do you ask?"
"I should probably get that done and over with," Daine mumbled to herself in reference to the reports. She looked down at her bandaged hands curiously and wiggled her fingers. "Or maybe I'll wait a little bit..." She frowned and decided she needed some fresh air and headed out to the grounds.
Crys blushed madly as Locks took her hand. it felt strange to be holding "hands" with hair. She giggled to herself and let them lead her upstairs
Morgan's attention was caught, "Track? I was in it, but as usual I was considered to be 'cheating' because of the wings and all." The wings on her ankles folded.
"I know what you mean!" Java exclaimed. "They won't let me jump hurdles anymore because I'd end up jumping all of them at once. Very awkward."
"You think this place has a track team?" Morgan asked.
Java shrugged. "Maybe. But with all the different mutations here it would be kinda hard to pick a winner fairly, y'know?"
"Good point." Morgan agreed, "Oh well, I'm sure their are other recreational stuff to do. I wonder if this place ever hosts a battle of the bands..."
Kurt raised an eyebrow. "You play, Morgan?"
Morgan turned to Kurt, "Vocals and Guitar. I was in a band, but they kicked me out. The jerks thought my mutation was the thing that made me play so well." she crossed her arms in anger.
"You won't be worrying about that here." Kurt said with a grin. "I actually battle my shadow sometimes."
"You...battle your shadow?" Morgan asked, a bit unsure of what he was talking about, "Who is shadow?"
Kurt pointed tot he wall that the light cast his shadow on. "That's my shadow. Check out what he can do." With that he pulled the shadow off the wall and it stood next to him as if it were another person.
"Damn!" Morgan siad as she watched the shadow came off the wall. She reached for it, "May I?"
Tom had been thinking of what he was going to say in his speach. He looked at the shadow as it peeled of the wall then back to Lyra. "So, want to show these kids how its done?"
"I've got a better idea." Kurt said and pulled Morgan's shadow from the wall too, letting it move right in front of her.
"Woah! You can do that to other people's shadows?!" Morgan exclaimed. She looked her shadow and circled it once, "Am I really that fat?" she joked. Morgan stuck her hand in the shadow, "Sweet..."
Kurt grinned and the shadow wrapped around her arm, quickly turning from a likeness of her into tendrils, wrapping up her and and around her neck lighlty
"Woah! That's crazy!" Java exclaimed.
Morgan laughed at how crazy the twisting shadows was to her. This had been the first time she had laughed since she arrived. "Could you use this to be dangerous at all?"
"well" Tom said, studying the shadow "You do currently have something wrapped round your neck. You thought and you'd be choked by your own shadow..."
Kurt smiled at Tom's deduction. "It's more than that Tom. With a mere thought I could turn that gentle tendril embrace into a razor sharp death trap. I can also infuse it with a fear I pluck from your head Morgan and make it a double bladed attack, both physical and mental."
"Well I guess your out of luck though..." Morgan began, "Witnesses everywhere."
"I would never use my powers to attack a student anyway." Kurt assured her and with a wink the shadow was back on the wall.
"I could do something like that too" Tom said, watching the shadow retreat "But I can't really do it on anyone without them dieing except me..."
"Umm...yea, I run fast." Morgan added in attempt to contribute to the discussion.
"That comes in handy, but not even you can outrun your own shadow." Kurt told her sternly. It was his way of assuring her that he would defeat her in a fight. "But anyway, you should show me what you can do with that guitar."
"And NOONE can run away from their blood" Tom said, grinning evily.
"Yea, but I'm sure you guys have to be near me to use your powers, right?" Morgan replied, "Who is to say that I'll be long gone by the time you attack." Her eyes went back on Kurt, "I haven't unpacked my amps or anything yet."
Tom let out a little evil chuckle before catching himself. "Ummm... no, infact I have been known to use my powers at a long range. Never really tested that..."
Morgan crossed her arms, "Uh Huh...." she said, doubting him. "I'm working on phasing through solid objects. Being able to vibrate my molecules fast enough that they can slide through molecules of walls, etc."
"Now that could save your neck, literally." Tom said, smirking. "Don't believe my powers don't work at long range?" he asked, looking at Morgan with his bright sparkling eyes.
"I don't even know what you do." Morgan replied.
"Hmmm... well I guess if Im going to be your teacher you should know about me." Tom said with a cheeky smile. "My alias is Hydro, Im able to manipulate EVERY liquid. Water, acid, even blood. My body can turn to water completely, that makes me able to create new limbs and to regenerate my flesh if its lost. I've got a few new things over the years, so even old freinds'll be surprised." He said, giving Lyra and Kurt a wink.
"....I can glide," Java contributed, helpfully. "And jump really high. Which I guess isn't too useful against either of you, but considering you're my teachers I shouldn't be worried! ...Right?"
"Oh, so a hair dryer and a hot day would kinda suck, huh?" Morgan joked.
"You are perfectly safe from us" Tom said, smiling at Java "And it takes MUCH more than that to make me vanish. The Sahara for a few days maybe, and a trip to the ant-artic would freeze me solid but apart from that, indestructable!"
Morgan smirked. "I could take you there in a few minutes. Although I'm not sure if I could carry you by myself." she joked.
"My shadow control is not the only power I have, Morgan." Kurt told them and looked at the students. "Well go and get everything unpacked, and Morgan, once you do, bring that guitar down to my office. I'll show you a real amp."
"Really?" Morgan asked, "Alright." She thought it was cool that a teacher actually was interested to hear her play. From her experience, most adults thought the music she played was 'crap'.
"Don't mind Kurt." Delaney said "He likes to posture. Just like a teenager. Thinks he's all big and bad most of the time. UNtil I get ahold of him."
Kurt glared at his wife. "Oh har har."
What sounded like an earthquake with a beat suddenly burst into life, the sound drifting from Arthur's room.
Kurt's attention drifted at the sound of the drums. "Wow, they're playing loud.."
The sound stopped as quickly as it came, leaving a ringing sound in the air.
"Huh." Java cocked an eyebrow.
"Let's see, Crys and Arthur went upstairs, but I didn't see anyone else go. So I'm guessing one of them plays the drums." Kurt pointed out for those who didn't catch on
Arthur walked down the steps, looking happy. He looked out at everyones faces and worked out that people had heard them playing. "ohhhh boy" he said under his breath.
Del smiled
"Ladies and gentlemen, Arthur Phillips!!!" Crys called as she bolted down the steps, ducking under his arm and emerging first. She did her best Vanna White pose presenting him. She smiled playfully at him
"ummm" Arthur said, walking down the stairs nervously "sorry... I got carried away"
Crys clapped for him and jumped up and down. "You guys should have seen him! Oh that was so cool!"
Arthur went even redder "sorry" he mumbled again, burying his head in his shirt.
Java grinned. "No, you're an awesome drum player! We could have a band, here!"
Locks must have been embarrased aswell because he was slowly wrapping himself round Arthur's head. "I heard about the lyrics..." Arthur said, nearly incoherently.
Kurt picked up on his thoughts. He was still training to not read everyone's thoughts all the time. He was getting a handle on it now. "You heard eh?"
Crys stood up for her newfound friend. "Yeah. I told him. I did a search on my soon to be teachers before coming here and I got song lyrics by you."
Arthur's head was completely encompased by Locks now, making him look like he was wearing a burlap sack.
"Hmm..." Morgan said at the return of Arther. Almost instantly, she was gone and had ran upstairs to her room. Before anyone could say anything, she returned. "I'm unpacked."
Arthur followed Morgan's path, two holes appearing for his eyes. All he could manage to make was a little whimpering noise.
Morgan took her sunglasses off. She had put them on before she took off to her room. After clicking them on her shirt, she blew a bubble with her chewing gum.
"Ummmm... K...." Arthur said, mumbling.
After looking at Arthur blankly, she blurted out, "What?"
Locks shifted over Arthur's face again. "nothin" he mumbled.
"So come see me in my office in a little bit. I'll show you the school amp." Kurt told Morgan. He squeezed his wife's hand. "Come on Del. Let's go write up those stupid reports."
"Sure thing." Morgan replied to her teacher. She darted next to Joss, "Not the biggest talker, are you Bat?"
The look on Java's face was like she'd been betrayed. "....Guess not. I'll be around." She lifted up a hand half-heartedly and left outside.
"I wouldnt mind a band..." Arthur mumbled, Locks retreating up his head again.
"You kids stay out of trouble and don't leave the grounds." Delaney said leaving with Kurt
Kurt lead Delaney down the hall into the concert room
Casey entered from outside. "Hey, all you crazy kids, have you seen Ghost around anywhere? Illusionist, real creepy guy, he's married to Daine. Any takers?"
The hairy sack which was Arthur's head moved from side to side, showing he didnt know.
"Hm," Casey grunted, dissatisfied with their answers.
"Sorry ma'am." Joss answered
Morgan looked at Casey, "I haven't, sorry." Her attention went back to Joss, "Ma'am? You don't have to be so proper with it. 'Morgan' is just fine. You know that I play guitar and enjoy track. But do you have any hobbies?"
Arthur wandered sideways to Crys "What should I... or we if you want... do now?"
Casey grunted again. She sighed and flicked up a small, black rotary phone out of blood mercury. Setting it on a table, she left to search the rest of the mansion.
Tom had been standing watching the surroundings. Finnaly deciding to go up to his room and have a rest, it had been a long flight.
"I dunno. There's a rec room, we could go and see whats there." Crys said
"Ok" said Arthur smiling widely. Actually you couldn't tell if it was him or Locks that was smiling because Locks ws still mostly covering Arthur's head.
"Yes Ma'am." Joss told Morgan "I whittle."
"Wittle?" Morgan asked, "What is that?"
Joss pulled a small wooden figure from his jacket pocket. It appeared to be a deer he had been working on "It's where you carve wood into a particular shape."
"Well that's pretty cool." Morgan replied to Joss. "So your an artist then?" Before he could answer, another question popped into her head, "I was curious..." she trailed off, "Since your Amish, do you not "believe" in technology? I don't mean for you to take this offensively."
Crys smiled and walked down the hall, hoping Arthur would follow.
"Well we don't drive vehicles." Joss said "Bout our ordnung had a community telephone and almost everyone had a kerosene powered refrigerator. We limit ourselves when it comes to electricity. If it will run on gas or kerosene then we use that instead."
Even if Arthur didn't want to follow Crys, which he did, Locks basically forced him to. Wrapping around Arthur's legs and making him follow her.
"Ohh.." Morgan acknowledged, "I give you props for the no electricity thing, but I don't think I could go without it."
"Theren't aren't so many distractions." joss said "It's easier to get things done. In my opinion."
"Distractions? I think electronics are more for either entertainment purposes or to help make jobs easier.” Morgan explained, “But I guess that’s just my opinion.”
Crys lead Arthur and Locks down the hall to The Recreation Room
"Yes ma'am." Joss said "Morgan."
"I wonder what else their is to do for fun in this place." Morgan said. She put her hands behind her head and leaned back onto them.
The recreation room is threw there." Laura told Morgan as she left the entrance hall
"Alright, I'll check it out," Morgan replied. She began to take a few steps before looking over her shoulder at Joss, "You coming?"
Joss nodded and followed Morgan.
The remaining teachers dispersed. Emma and Scott went to The Headmaster's Office, Hank retreated to his lab and Logan and Laura seperated to do whatever it is they usualy do when they are borde.
Crys walked out of the headmaster's office grimfaced. Crap crap crap she thought
Arthur walked out the recreation room, looking round and seeing Crys. There was practically a race between Locks and Arthur to get to her side, but since both were attached to each other it was basically a draw. "You alright?" Arthur asked.
"Yeah I guess....but now I gotta move my things outta my room...The Headmistress is making me and Morgan roomates...." Crys said quietly. Looking at Arthur. "Morgan's gonna try to kill me when I sleep..."
Locks made a deep ratteling noise as Arthur winced slightly. "I don't think Locks would like that" he said.
"And what would you think about that, Arthur?" Crys asked him, looking at him. He didn't have the innocence that Joss had that made him so attractive, no. Arthur was just plain old cute. She felt herself blush as her gaze met his
Arthur blushed and scratched his head "Well..." he looked down "I think that I would hunt her down and murder her myself.." He smiled as he said it but Locks made a small noise that seemed approving.
Crys smiled. "That's comforting." She turned and started for the stairs. "Come on, you can help me get my stuff."
Arthur nodded, smiling. He followed Crys towards the stairs happily.
Crys lead him up the stairs to her room. (Crystal B. Li's Room)
A little while later, Crys returned down the stairs, leading a luggage laden Arthur down them as well. She leaned against the wall. "You can drop them here. I guess I should go and ask where we're going."
Arthur walked down the stairs carefully, making sure not to drop anything. He put them down carefully when told and looked up "So where are the teachers then?"
Tom walked down the stairs slowly, seemingly in deep thought.
"I think that's one of them." Crys said, pointing at Tom. "Excuse me." She ran up to him and tapped his shoulder
Just then a telepathic surge swept the school. Emma announced Dinner will be served in The Dining Hall in one hour. This is a manditory engagement. Students and faculty are obligated to attend. Thank you.\
Java skimmed gracefully into the entrance hall from outside. She caught sight of Crys and Arthur and gave them a big friendly grin. "Hi!" She said in passing, waving. "See you at dinner!" She glided past them, touched down at the base of the stairs, and with a little push skimmed above the stairs up to her dorm room.
Arthur waved back at Java, a little shaken from the message. He hadn't had any telepathic communication before.
Arthur wasn't the only one nervous, Tom didn't know what he was going to say at the dinner. Turning to Crys and hiding his worries he smiled "Yes? What is it you want?"
"You're a teacher right? Well I just got roomed with Morgan and we both got kicked outta our rooms first but I don't know where I'm supposed to go now to be int he room with her." Crys said quickly
Tomb blinked for a second then shook his head "Sorry, I've been in my room for a while... I don't know about that... but I think you should find, Morgan wasn't it,and agree with them over you'r room."
"But Mrs. Summers sentenced us to be roomates the rest of the year. I had a nice room already picked out. I didn't even get to unpack my things and already I got kicked out of it and now I gotta room with Morgan..." Crys complained with her usual annoying long winded manner
Tom faced her and crossed his arms "Well she's much more senior than me, so I can't really counteract her..."
Java skimmed down the stairs, landing at the bottom easily. "What's goin on?"
"We're waiting for the Diner to start" Tom said.
"Well! That's certainly terribly exciting business," Java replied, winking. She made a small hop over to Arthur and stuck out a hand. "I don't think we've had the pleasure! Or if we have, I've long forgotten. My name's Java!"
Arthur looked shocked for a moment before shaking her hand. "I'm Arthur, and this is Locks..." Locks waved a little ofer the top of my head.
"Wow! You're hair is sentient?" Java asked, staring at Locks with shining curiosity. "That's soo cool! Can I touch it?"
"Well?" Arthur said to Locks, who shrank back slightly before extending a dreadlock carefully "There." Locks would feel very odd, like a flexible bone that had a mind of it's own.
Java reached out and took it in her hand carefully, an amazed smile spreading across her face. "Wow, it feels so wierd!"
