Waya's Room
The room is sparely decorated. Once the walls where lined with photos of her and her family. Now they've all been piled into a box in the corner. Their memories too hard to bear. Her bed is folded with hospital corners and everything else is far too neat and tidy. There isn't even a stray sock dangling out of the hamper. It's almost as if a soldier lives here now rather than a 17 year old girl.
Waya's Room 1
Waya's Room 2
Waya hadn't really had anyone in her room since they'd gotten back from the Mojoverse. She'd forgotten that she'd left the place a mess. Since Rex had popped up like a daisy she hadn't exactly been a little ray of sunshine. There were clothes and plates and just a general lack of maintenance all about. She hadn't really cared or noticed till she came in with Rhydian and Jeremy in a rather good mood. She winced. "Sorry about the mess..." She said. "I um... you can put the stuff on the bed."
Rhydian wobbled a bit when they returned to their plane of existence. It was always a little disorienting for the passengers. When he saw the state of Waya's room, he winced as well. It was like a disaster zone...especia
lly compared to his own. He'd have to talk to her about it later, he wouldn't be able to stop himself. "A.alright..." He said and took his armload to the bed, which wasn't much better off than the floor.
"Wow... jeese..." Jeremy groaned as he stumbled into existence "Oh god Waya, let me brace a little." He had to adjust his stance, trying to not drop what he had been holding and barely capable of standing still "I haven't felt... this dizzy since... Oh god... that time I took over a blender." He almost collapsed, but managed to make it to the bed and put down his own collection of presents.
"I've teleported both of you a hundred times." She said. "Stop acting like it's anything new."
"Maybe it's the booze." Jeremy said with a little shrug, leaning on the wall and rubbing his head.
"And everytime you do, it's disorienting." Rhydian pointed out. He'd gotten used to it, true, but it still was.
"I can't change it." She said. "You'll just have to get used to it."
"Right. Well." Jeremy stood up with a groan, feeling his body reluctant to move as he wanted it "Unless we're going to have a threesome, goodnight you two." He wobbled a little, then made towards the door.
Rhydian's face turned about as red as Junior's at Jeremy's statement.
Waya's face blushed a healthy (for her any way) shade of azure. "You wish." She managed to choke out as he left.
Jeremy hummed a noncommittal noise, gazed at Rhydian's butt for a second, then left. He wasn't going to say anything.
Rhydian swallowed hard and looked at Waya. "Well...that was awkward..."
"Yeah..." Waya said, but things were still awkward considering they were just standing there alone now.
Rhydian couldn't help but look at the mess in her room. Now that Jeremy was gone, and they were completely alone, he wanted something to talk about... "..This place is a mess, Waya..." He said quietly.
"Yeah..." Waya said, looking around. "I've... been lazy..." Depressed was more like it.
"Would you like some help cleaning up?" He offered her with a nervous look around. It was a lot, but he could clear it away in mere minutes.
"It's not your problem." She said. "You don't have to."
"No...no I don't." He said softly, looking down at his feet. He smiled and then turned towards her, "But I would."
"I know you would..." She said. "Thanks..." God she hated this awkwardness. She knew Rhydian. Things shouldn't be this weird.
He raised his hand, focusing his mind and a few articles of clothing rose from the floor. "Want me to, birthday girl?"
She smiled. "I'll gather the dishes.
He smiled back and led the parade of her clothes back to the dressers and closets where they belonged.
She began gathering dishes without the use of her powers, but she opened a gateway to the kitchen where she found the mess left by dinner. She frowned. The twins had been hammered. They weren't going to want to clean that up in the morning.
There was a faint knock on the door. It was so soft that it was hard to hear for Rhydian, but of course Waya would be able to pick it up clear as day.
Waya answered the door, not even thinking to use her telepathy to investigate who was there.
Turns out, she wouldn't have been able to get a signal anyway. George stood in the doorway, hands rubbing together in front of him in nerves. "Waya..." he said gently, before his eyes flicked up to Rhydian "Oh... Oh, should I come back another time?"
"Oh! Hey George." Rhydian said with a wave to the robot. He had opened the dresser himself as the clothes climbed up and folded themselves, he slipped them inside. "Just helping the birthday girl clean her room."
Waya was a little surprised to see him. He'd sort of made himself scarce earlier. "Hey..." She said, not really sure what else to say.
The tight way he was standing, the way his weight shifted repeatedly, the way George looked over at Rhydian, it was clear he wasn't exactly comfortable. "I just... wanted to wish you happy birthday again." he said, swaying, trying to decide whether to hug her or not, then holding out his hand for her to shake "But I see you have company. I'll not keep you."
She looked at his outstretched hand. "George... thank you." She said. "Your gift was lovely." A hug was probably more appropriate but all things considered, she gave him a kiss on the cheek instead, using his hand as a brace to push up with because she was too short to reach him on her own.
George's face lit up in a blush as she kissed his cheek. He seemed frozen, then carefully moved back to his previous position and merely nodded to Waya. "You two have a good night." he said with a nod to Rhydian, but he seemed a little reluctant to leave the doorway. This was such a good moment with Waya, he didn't want it to end too soon.
"Night George..." She said, but it was odd saying good night to a creature who didn't speak. Seeing his reluctance, she began to close the door.
Rhydian turned to look at her as she closed the door. "Do you want me to head out, too?" He asked curiously. She was sort of running everyone off at the moment...
"You don't have to..." She said. "I was thinking of cleaning up the kitchen for the twins... they went through the trouble of fixing all that."
Rhydian stopped and thought for a second. "You know... I could help you out with cleaning that up too."
"You don't mind?" She asked. "I'd hate to just sit by while you Disney Princessed the whole kitchen."
"I don't have to do that, you know." He pointed out to her. He closed the dresser and moved over to her. "It just things more entertaining, don't you think?"
She shrugged. "However you wanna do it is fine..."
"I think it would be nicer jut the two of us..." He said quietly
She looked confused. "I didn't suggest there would be more than just us..."
He scratched his head, he hated having to explain himself. "The 'Disney' thing... It implies perfectly what my powers do, they bring life to the inanimate... I'd..I'd rather just the two of us wash the dishes like normal people."
"Oh..." She said softly. "I understand." She smiled a little. "I think I'd like that."
He smiled in return, then clasped his hands together. "So..how did your room get this bad?" He asked with a smirk as he went back to helping her clean up.
"It's not been the best few months..." She admitted as she went back to cleaning up.
"Anytime, Waya...I mean it." He told her as he started picking things up by hand. "If you ever need a hand cleaning up, just ask."
She nodded a little. "Thanks Rhydian..." She felt bad falling silent like this, but what was she supposed to talk about? Her nightmares? Not sleeping? Rhydian didn't need her problems any more than she did.
The silence was a bit uncomfortable, but he figured that it would probably be something to get used it. As he picked up the clothes that got left behind, he tried to find something to say. "So umm...what present did you like most?"
"George's wolves really surprised me." She said, being honest. "But your record player was pretty sweet."
"I think those wolves surprised everyone..." He told her truthfully and stood up. His eyes looked down at the silky article of clothing he felt in his hand and his face immediately turned crimson red.
Waya saw his expression and snatched her bra from his hands.
His flush didn't lessen at all and he carried the clothes he had to a nearby hamper. He had probably scooped up more than just that bra and hadn't realized it. The clothes that put themselves away, were those that could walk or climb on their own. That pretty much left socks and undergarments.
She swept them up with a swarm of rats and mice made of shadow. They carried these items to the hamper and she turned back to Rhydian, a little blue around the edges.
He reached up and put his hand on the back of his head, rubbing it sheepishly. "Umm...I'm sorry...I..i didn't know what I'd picked up."
"Forget about it." She said. "Let's go clean the kitchen."
He'd wanted to say 'But we're not done here' but he didn't want to embarrass himself any further by finding anything else either. He nodded and held out his hand instead. He didn't know if she intended to shadow-port them down or if they'd walk.
Since he didn't like teleporting she figured they could walk and led him to the school kitchen
