Maybe It Was Good

The featured story for 30th March 2012 is brought to you by [Alexi Ice] and (nominator).

" 'She will die soon.'

I was signing papers when I heard this. I glanced over at the two women, one of them was short with dark curly hair and the other was a rather stern faced nurse who obviously didn’t care whose feelings she hurt. “If we don’t find a donor soon…she won’t make it. And she is low on the list. I suggest you make preparations for, you know, the funeral.” The nurse continued, stubborn. The dark haired woman was sobbing into her hands. "

We hope you enjoy this interesting story!

Sapphire Stars

The featured story for 15th March 2012 is brought to you by [kamisch] (author) and [windowframe] (nominator).

"Life starts off dark, black- life is scary. Then, the whiteness comes- bright, painful whiteness. It’s easy to adjust to the pain though, and then life becomes beautiful. There are beautiful people in it who love and care about you. Those who can’t adjust to the bright white and the pain never get to see the beautiful people, they are dark people, blurry people without faces."

We hope you enjoy this beautiful story!

The Token

The featured story for 15th February 2012 is brought to you by [*OGD*] (author and nominator).

"This was my beginning. She was my beginning. Her name was Anirosa, and she was my whole world. When I met her, we shared a class our sophomore year of college. I went out on a limb that semester, which I don’t often do, and I took a philosophy class. My father always reminded me that trying things that were outside of our comfort zones helped to shape us into our fullest being. He said that if I glued myself to one thing I would become my studies, and they would no longer become me. I can not admit the truth of his philosophy, but I will never deny the truth that this class would become one of the most beneficial of my entire education."

A sweet, well-written short story we hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Hide & Seek

The featured story for 15th January 2012 is brought to you by [Aries Undomna] (author).

"Jerry put his hands on the edge of the icy cold soil that surrounded the hole and pulled his body up. His breath was visible in the warm night air. ‘Odd.’ He thought ‘I’m so cold, but it’s summer.’ He rested his arm on the grave beside the hole. The girl’s voice shrieked in outrage.

“Get your hands off the tombstone!” She ordered.

“Jeez! Fine! Not like it has your name on it!” He grumbled and walked away. Jerry could have sworn he heard her say ‘Why don’t you take a closer look?’ but it was probably the wind blowing through the creepy leafless trees. "

A fun, fast-paced story with a bit of a twist at the end, [Aries Undomna] left us with smiles on our faces after reading this. We hope you enjoy it!
