TALEZ of HADEZ

History of Hadez

In the not so distant future, Earth was in trouble. The growing population consumed amounts of energy which the nuclear, coal, and hydro power couldn’t supply for. Earth was in need of a powerful and inexpensive energy source. Governments were beginning to worry about the situation and began pouring funds into the space exploration programs, hoping to find a new hope. Scientists put together a small research team and gave them a shuttle to venture into space to find a solution, which was either a new planet to populate or a new energy source.

Moraxis, the last unregistered vampire on Earth, was worried about his survival on a planet in harmony. Vampires had become legal citizens of Earth, so long as they registered themselves to their government branch. He learned about the shuttle that was being sent to provide a brighter future for earth. His inspiration for stowing away on board was different though. He wanted a playground for his kind. He never wanted equality since he thought vampires to be the superior race on the planet. The fact his race lived in harmony with the humans disgusted him.

So once the shuttle named Survival left earth, Moraxis was on board. He hid in a service tunnel, falling into a deep sleep once the shuttle left earth orbit. Several months into their voyage, Survival’s sensors picked up a large energy source from a nearby planet. After a few probes had landed on the planet and retrieved samples from its surface, Survival made its approach. They landed on the planet, which they called Hadez because of its torrid and chaotic climate. The air was breathable, and the researchers set up a facility in a nearby cave to begin their tests. Moraxis awoke and left the shuttle undetected. The scientists found an ore which was abundant on the planet, which they called Millan. This ore could produce his quantities of energy; several grams could power a nation. Once they had harvested enough Millan, the scientists set a course back to earth.

Moraxis waited for the humans to return. He was to observe them, and wait for the perfect moment to take control of the planet. The humans returned a month later with several shuttles. Miners and their families immigrated to Hadez, as well as people from all professions. Work began immediately on an underground city. They worked together, and began shipping Millan back to Earth. For a few hundred years, the humans lived underground away from the harsh climate on the surface. The population began to grow and the caves were getting crowded. Many Hadians (humans born on Hadez) heard stories of earth, having never seen it of their own eyes. They longed to live above ground like their cousins on Earth who prospered due to their labour.

Five hundred years after the first settlers had arrived on Hadez, Kathian de Cabraz put together the blueprints for a machine that would allow the Hadians to live on the surface, and protect them from the elements. He named the machine Celestia. Celestia, once completed, would encompass Hadez in an energy shield which would keep out the natural weather conditions and project the blue skies of Earth. Moraxis was interested in Kathian’s idea, and his daughter. Elize de Cabraz was the most beautiful woman Moraxis had ever seen. He had to have her. Once Celestia was completed, Moraxis killed Kathian, and turned Elize.

Elize was ever bit a ruthless as she was beautiful. She inspired Moraxis to build an army, and take control of Celestia. Now that the energy field was up though, the two vampires had to hide during daylight hours. Moraxis, using some arcane knowledge, created a werewolf to defend him and his beloved as they slept. Dracon was a loyal bodyguard. Once Moraxis began populating his army, Dracon was to stay home and protect Elize. For several hundred years, Moraxis filled his ranks, and the humans, now shielded from the elements, began populating the surface of Hadez. One morning, Moraxis returned and found Dracon with Elize. In his fury, he expelled Dracon. He assigned his two top generals, Davhn and Malek, to kill Dracon out in the marshlands. He escaped however, and was never seen again.

Around the year 1570 A.A. (after arrival) Hadez’s largest human city, Avalon, recived a communication from Earth informing them that the shipments of Millan were no longer necessary. They had found a way to replicate the ore on Earth, and therefore decided to save the shipping costs. The Hadians were furious. They were no longer able to communicate with the home planet. Stranded, they continued their lives, unsuspecting of the growing vampire threat.

By this time, Moraxis had many great vampires under his control. Dr, Sedrick Hurst created a horde of werebeasts to protect the growing colony during the daytime. Among these werebeasts was Nathaniel, who became their leader later on. His forces were well prepared, so Moraxis began his siege on the Hadians. The humans were the first to strike hard in defence. They created a virus much like the one humans had used to control the vampires on Earth; Hemothin was able to stop the vampires from reproducing. Being unable to repopulate their ranks whenever needed, Moraxis had to change his tactics. He led a large scale attack on Celestia, and took control of the weather apparatus. Eternal night then covered the surface of Hadez. The vampires now had free reign on Hadez, and the humans died of exhaustion as well as bodily wounds.

The Hadians fled their cities as the vampires took them over. The werebeasts, who no longer needed to guard vampires during the day, reinforced their ranks. The Hadians set up five outposts, named Alpha, Delta, Beta, Omega, Gamma, to halt the vampires approach towards Avalon. These outposts were filled with fighters and occultists. These proved to be a minor resistance, but they bought Avalon enough time to put up their ultimate defence; the Sunshield. Now surrounded in an eternal blanket of daylight, Avalon became impenetrable to the vampires.

The captured Hadians where split up into two groups: workers and cattle. The workers where composed of men, while the cattle where composed of the women, elderly, and children. The workers where conditioned to do manual tasks in the cities run by the vampires, as well as maintenance on Celestia and other essential machinery. The cattle where put in holding pens and occasionally coupled with workers to ensure a constant blood supply.

The war was now at a standstill. Moraxis came back from the battle front to find Elize with Nathaniel. He decided to have the werebeasts expelled into space. Again, the werebeasts escaped but as the generals were searching for them, Dracon returned to Moraxis’s stronghold, which was built around Celestia; Nocturne Keep. He fought with Moraxis, and in the end only Dracon was left conscious. Elize watched the whole scene, but never lifted a finger to help either side. Dracon then fled. When the generals returned, Elize explained that Moraxis had fallen into a deep slumber, and that she had placed him in his coffin to regenerate. The vampires placed five outposts around Avalon in the shape of a pentagon. The colony voted Davhn as Moraxis’s successor. This is where the story begins…
