From on high a rose of malignant beauty
An infection
Infestation
How dare we to question
Question the enormity

Feathered clouds of weight

The Hour Glass
Time eating to eternity
Ravaged by the animals
That pick and claw at it
The Fire that burns in us
Dropping slowly to the end
Slipping sand into the sea
Consumed by the tides and
Cast into the eternal abyss
Never failing to run out

What It Evoked
Today was the day I found your crumpled little skeleton
hunched over the wheel
a host to the dust growing on the rubber
You looked like you were bracing rebirth
about to climb out of mother's womb
sneak through the dark of her walls
dance and recoil
but there you were, in the car instead
honking the silent horn after the midnight screw up
Now you're looking trapped in death forever
And though I both pity and envy you
I cannot help but feel that somehow
we are both the same.
