East Hall on the Third Floor

This corridor is the most active of the four, students run in out of one room, followed by the smell of burning food, and a thick billow of smoke, from another room the sound of laughter pours out, battling against the loud thumping music from yet another door. For some inexplicable reason, you get the distinct impression that this floor is the teenagers' territory.

Saturday, October 2nd

Mihir exited his room and looked down the hall for a moment, lost. He had forgotten his map in his room, so he wasn't sure where to go now. He stood in the hall, waiting for someone else to emerge from their room.
Valerie appeared, coming from [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki], more busy texting than walking, her gate reduced to a snail's pace. She shook her head in response to some lingering thought she'd just typed before sliding her phone into her jacket pocket. It was apparent that her mind was preoccupied, since she was unaware of any other presence in the vicinity.
Mihir spotted Valerie walking down the hall, but he neither recognized her or saw her acknowledge his presence, which made him nervous to approach. He shifted a bit towards her, but paused, thinking that she might mistake him for an intruder. Which, for him, wouldn't be the first time.
A yawn snuck up on Valerie, and she quite noisily stifled it, placing her hand over her mouth only after opening it wide enough to show the world how much dental work she’d had done. When Mihir shifted his position a little further down the hallway, Val finally realized that she wasn’t alone. It wasn’t in the girl’s nature to assume the worst of people, and, while she didn’t recognize him, she hazarded a greeting. ‘Hi there,’ she said while lingering in the kitchen’s doorway, ‘Are you looking for something?’ Though she hadn’t seen him with the unfamiliar group of students in the Center Hall last night, she simply assumed he was new.
"Uh..." was Mihir's brilliant response. It took him a moment to compose any words, since he hadn't been sure how this girl would greet him. "I just arrived last night and have no idea where I am..." He trailed off uselessly, biting his lip and hoping this girl didn't think he was completely insane.
‘Oh, well’ Valerie said, thinking a moment before continuing, ‘…you’re on the third floor, uhm… eastern wing.’ The blonde paused again then smiled reassuringly, hoping to maybe put Mihir a little more at ease, ‘It’s a big place, and I’m still finding my way around. I’ve only been here a week.’ There was another brief silence before she said, ‘I’m Valerie, by the way.’
Mihir gave her a smile, nodding slightly. He held out his hand to shake. "My name's Mihir."
‘Mihir, that’s a unique name,’ Valerie said with polite sweetness. She had, of course, noted his skin color and mode of adornment—especially the bear claw necklace. A thought entered her mind, and it was visible in her expression, but she apparently decided against voicing it, instead saying, ‘Well, this is the kitchen here… one of the kitchens, there’s another on the first floor. Seems like everything’s up for grabs in there. I’m going to go… fill up my water bottle.’ And she held it up to show him, as if the boy actually cared.
"Would you mind if I joined you?" Mihir asked. He wasn't sure why, but at least this girl was speaking to him. And he could probably find something to eat. At the mere thought of food, Mihir's stomach growled, and he glared for a moment at the offending body part before giving Val a sheepish grin. "And maybe find something to snack on while I'm there."
‘Sure, thing. Should be more people showing-up soon, ‘ Valerie smiled and said without hesitation, before actually stepping fully into [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Mihir followed Val into the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Light came from the Center Hall, scooting her feet slowly, and she walked into [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Shade walked in from the [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki], wearing only a pair of black boxers, he quietly followed Light into the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Laurel was skiping by now as she made her way down the hall from [X-men hall Center 3rd@wiki] and to [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki]
After the influx of people into the kitchen, Valerie bopped out of the room, water bottle filled and in hand. She headed toward [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Michael followed Shade and Light's scent down the hall but stopped outside a specific dorm room. He sniffed the air a few times to make sure he had caught Mihir's scent. He followed it into the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Jacob quickly walked down the hall, his stomach growling in protest at the lack of food in it. Eyes lighting up when he spotted the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki]
Mihir escaped from the kitchen. His hands were steaming as he walked down the hall to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Addy exited her room and followed her nose to [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn followed after her roomate silently, looking around again for someone who might know where the church was. She soon found herself in the [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Michael left the kitchen. He needed to talk to Mihir. He sniffed the air and followed the scent down the hall to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Teena bounced her way to [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Squid followed, abeit at a slight distance, Teena to [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Right after Squid and Teena entered the kitchen, Shade headed out, holding the door open for Light.
Light came out of the kitchen, crossing her arms of her chest, and lightly leaned into Shade, walking with him to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Shade gave the girl a courteous smile and a nod as she passed, letting go of the door, he put his arm around the girl and walked her to the [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Adrianne appeared in the hall, already halfway to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Mihir made his way back to his room, [Dormitory 397@wiki].
Laurel walked down the hall to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Much later than the rest, Korvka emerged from her dormitory and bypassed the kitchen on the third floor. She intended to get some more studying done in the library and figured she would head to the main kitchen instead - besides, who knows who else might have gotten wind of her bare breasts last night? She couldn't recall who the picture had been sent to, aside from Vlad. A slight headache wracked her but she was otherwise all right and headed to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki], crunching an apple she grew from her palm.
Laurel headed back through the hall and sliped into the [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn walked into the hall and walked slowly, just to pass the time. "A lovely morning... and no where to go. How unfortunate..." she said to herself, hands in her pockets. Her expression was that of sheer boredom and she slauntered through the halls.
Opening his door, Vlad stepped into the hall in his simple outfit and walked down the hall. He paused to see the kitchen and placed a hand on his stomach: he was hungry... but food would always be there and he didn't have time to waste if he was going to catch up with the girls he wanted to see before they went off on their own for the day. Hoping that they were awake, Vlad poked his head into the kitchen to see if Shana and Dani were there, and seeing that they were not, kept walking to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Squid walked out of the kitchen and glanced around. The hallway seemed completely empty, save for one female student. He smiled to himself. This may be fun. He took off down the hall at a run to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn watched Squid run by and tilted her head, looking confused. "Why are you running though the halls...? Is there danger nearby?" she asked to really no one in particular, talking more to herself. She looked around and decided to wait for a little while, to see if Addy came by again. "I do hope we find some kind of church. If not, I'm going to have to build an altar in our room." she sighed softly. A lot of work would have to be done.
Ethan walked out of his dorm and into the east hall of the third floor, from there he walked straight too [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Korvka, book in hand, walked with a very noticeable bounce in her usually steady stride until she reached [Dormitory 392@wiki]. Not caring if she woke Flame up, Korvka threw open the door and then shut it behind her...
Moments later, she emerged again, dressed to exercise, and dashed down to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki], her ponytail swinging behind her.
Teena exited the kitchen and saw the unresponsive person from the kitchen. Wondering if she would be more responsive now, Teena walked toward Endelyn and eyed her intently. "You're not deaf by any chance, are you?" she asked curiously and in a neutral, non-mocking tone. "Though if you are, you probably won't hear me this time either, hmm..." Teena then turned to look quite contemplative as she tried to come up with some quick way to communicate herself to someone who was deaf.
Laurel slipped out of the kitchen and waved to Teena as she walked through the hall on her way to [X-men Hall Center 3rd@wiki]
Endelyn looked up to the person who was addressing her. "Deaf? No. I'm not deaf." she said and blinked. "Why, do I seem so?" she questioned. Endelyn looked down at herself to see if there was some sort of sign that she hadn't noticed to make her seem deaf.
Shana came through from the center hall, looking rather angry as she eyed Teena and Endelyn. Not feeling the need to speak to either of them at the moment, she passed by them and went into [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Daniela walked in after Shana and waved to Endelyn and Teena as she walked by, there were so many new people of late, thought the girl. Shana still seemed kind of upset, so she figured it would be best to follow quickly into the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki] before she got into an argument with someone else.
"Oh, good!" exclaimed Teena when Endelyn replied. "You just didn't even seem to notice me in the kitchen. I suppose you don't do well in crowds then?" As Shana and Daniela walked by, Teena responded to Daniela's wave and continued talking with Endelyn. "Shall we try this again? I'm Teena MacTormin, how about you?" she said enthusiastically and offered her hand again.
Mihir emerged from his room and looked down the hall. He was willing to try this again. Mihir bypassed the two girls and went straight to the [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn shook her hand slowly. "Endelyn Hagan. I do apologise. I was just looking for Addy in there, and I'm not too fond of crowds. Please forgive my rudeness." she said and bowed her head. She felt horrible about ignoring her before.
Teena smiled to Endelyn. "Pleased to meet you!" she said. "That introduction went better, I'll say." Looking back at the kitchen, Teena continued: "Addy? She's the blue one, right? I think she disappeared again. But now there are only three people in the kitchen so you could go have some breakfast!"
Endelyn shook her head. "No, thank you. I would prefer to find a church before I eat." she said. "Addy was looking for one, last time I checked with her."
"A church?" asked Teena in a seemingly confused, but curious tone. "I have no idea about a church. I would assume there is one in town, but it's quite a trip there. Maybe you can ask from a teacher or something?" Eyeing Endelyn, Teena wondered why she needed a church, so she went ahead and asked: "Why do you need a church?"
Endelyn tilted her head. "Well, why not? I'm catholic, and I go to church every Sunday, no exceptions." she said and laughed lightly. "Silly. Oh well, if I can't find a church, I'll just have to make a small altar in my room at least."
Teena wanted to ask what Endelyn would do if she was ill on a Sunday, but didn't feel like continuing the topic. "Oh well, unfortunately I can't help you with that. Hum-de-dum." Teena did nothing for a short moment and realised that she didn't have anything to do. "I seem to have nothing to do. Is there by chance anything else on your mind that I could help with?"
Endelyn blinked in slight surprise, then looked up thoughtfully. "Hmm... where would a good place be to train with our powers?" she asked.
Seeing Teena and Endelyn, Korvka, who was in a much better mood than usual, smiled at them as she walked by. "Hi," she called, throwing them a little wave. It was clear that she had just come from the gym, as she was dressed in exercise clothes, her hair was in a ponytail, and there was sweat clinging to her brow. Once she had passed them, she entered [Dormitory 392@wiki]... and then a bit later, Korvka emerged again, freshly showered with her hair braided into low pigtails that draped over her shoulder and clothes made for going outside. "Bye!" she called, as a sort of completion to her earlier statement, and then practically bounced out to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
"Good morning!" replied Teena to Korvka before answering Endelyn: "I don't know... wait, I remember there was a mention of some special room where we could train, but I don't know where it is! We should ask." Teena paused for a second and was about to say she'd go to the kitchen and ask about the room, but her mind jumped on another topic. "Oh, what is it that you can do?" she asked curiously. When Korvka exited and left her room, Teena replied back likewise: "Bye!"
Endelyn waved silently to Korvka, then looked back to Teena. She smiled and nodded. "That would be a good idea." she said. She was about to answer, but Korvka bounced by again. "...bye." she said after a moment's pause. Endelyn then took her little dagger out of her pocket, and with some concentration, the sword morphed itself into a longsword. "I can control the blade's length, but only to a certain length."
Rasing a eyebrow at Endelyn's sword, Laurel skipped through the hall she waved at Teena and Endelyn as she entered the [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki], hoping to find Jacob in there.
"Interesting!" said Teena as she observed what Endelyn did. She also waved back at Laurel. "I can just make stuff lighter, like so." She then stepped off the floor and turned so that she floated at Endelyn's eye level – just like she had shown to Squid a while ago.
Trudging out of Korvka's room Flame didn't really take any notice of those in the hallway. She was still in her underwear and top that she had slept in from last night, holowatch off to show her full scaley self, and hair a rather mess of knots around her head. She tried to run a hand through it to untangle the mess but gave up until she had gotten coffee into her system, leaving for [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki] to do so.
Endelyn watched in amazement. "Wow! That is amazing!" She exclaimed, looking at the floor as if there was an invisible box there. She waved to Laurel, then noticed Flame and tilted her head curiously, watching her go into the kitchen. She looked like she had a rough night, and stood up straight again, looking at Teena. "That is stunning."
Teena eyed Flame as she walked by and almost forgot to greet her since she looked so odd. However, Teena did remember to do so before Flame disappeared into the kitchen. "Good morning!" Turning to Endelyn again, Teena landed and said: "Well thank you. I suppose now would be the time to ask where that training room is! Hold on." Teena then jumped over to the kitchen door in a giant leap and poked her head into [X-men Kitchen 3rd@wiki], but stayed otherwise in the hall.
Teena pulled her head back from the kitchen. "There should be a room like that downstairs!"
Laurel exited the kitchen when Teena pulled her head back."Well then let's go!" she bounded ahead, not wait up for the girls as she bounced down the hall to [X-men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn nodded and followed after Laurel, but waited for Teena as well. "You are coming as well, right?" she asked Teena with a little smile. She was guessing that Laurel was talking to them, since they were the only girls in the hallway.
"Yes." Teena looked at Laurel bouncing her way forward and then followed her to [X-men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Endelyn followed as well, silently and respectfully. Something didn't feel quite right however. As she followed them to [X-men Hall Center 3rd@wiki], Endelyn couldn't help but feel as though she forgot something.
Shana burst out from the kitchen, running her hands back through her hair as she shuffled quickly down to hall to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Daniela walked out of the kitchen, playing with the bottom of the oversized t-shirt she wore as part of her PJs. After almost tripping by stepping on her sweats with her slippers, the girl stood there for a bit, waiting for Jacob.
Jacob stood behind her he kept a safe distance, arching a brow slightly. "Shouldn't you change into somthin' warmer, perhaps? seen as we're goin' out side?" noting her PJ's with little interest.
"Oh, I thought I could show you the complex first... " replied Daniela with a small smile, brushing her bangs out of her face. "But you're probably right, I'm gonna run to my room really quickly." she said turning to the centre hall, after walking a few steps, she turned her head back towards Jacob and lifted her index finger. "Meet me by the elevator, ok?" she added before she headed into the [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
"Ill see y'all there then." Jacob was happy he had pulled a jumper out of his draw and wrapped it round his waist, he slipped it on in preparation for going out even if it was only mildly cool. He headed for [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki]
Skidding out of the kitchen Flame caught herself before she continued to the center hall. It would not do any good to meet up with Squid covered in blood spots and wearing only a shirt and undies, yet she also did not know if her room was safe to go into yet. Well, Korvka would just have to put up with her using the girls' shower to clean up the mess she made. Opening up the door Flame entered into [Dormitory 392@wiki]. Later on, fully dressed minus her coat, she headed down to the center hall.
Mihir went straight from the center hall to [Dormitory 397@wiki].
Vlad made a beeline for [Dormitory 393@wiki] and disappeared into it, shutting the door calmly behind him... and then emerged shortly after wearing very little. Vlad was ready to go to the pool, barefoot, Speedo shorts on, sunglasses on his head, and all of his impressive muscles on display as he walked as casually as if he were wearing jeans back down the hall to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Leaving his room, Mihir ran his hand over the now revealed scars. He shook his head and went out to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki]. It was a few minutes later that he reappeared. He went to his door and pulled his key out of his pocket, but in his agitation, the metal key melted in the heat of his palm. Mihir stared at the molten metal that dripped onto the floor, cooling halfway down so that slivers of metal landed at his feet. He put his head on his door, completely defeated.
Korvka would not have caught up with Mihir had he not melted his key. As she walked passed the kitchen and went to her door, she saw a vaguely familiar figure standing with his head against his door, bald as a cue-ball. Now, Korvka was not ordinarily a sociable person but she was indeed making an effort today and if there was one thing that she knew it was how to spot a person in the throes of anger. Clearing her throat, Korvka leaned against her door and said, "Bad day already?" as if she didn't know who the person was, feeling rather proud of herself for reaching out to a stranger.
Mihir's eyes traveled to Korvka, and a bit of his anger grew. "Not you too," he said, turning fully. Now that he was facing her, she had a clear view of the side of his head that held the scars. He ran a hand over his eyes, steam rising as he evaporated the angry tears that were forming from his frustration.
"Mihir?" Korvka asked when he looked at her, the vague familiarity skyrocketing to instant recognition. It seemed like perhaps her comment in the center hall earlier had pushed him over the edge, Daniela's as well, and Korvka stared for a moment at the four scars that looked as if they had been rather painful glaring at her from the side of his otherwise nice head. This was a bit over her head, strangers plus crying, but he looked more angry than sad and Korvka didn't immediately run away. "You know, none of us thought it vos that strange," she said, gesturing to his now-bald head. "Just different. Curious," she explained.
"You should have all just gone to ask Micheal. He could have told you why I grow my hair like that," Mihir said angrily. He let his hand drop, the tears gone. "I am just having a bad day." It was a simply statement of fact, but seemed to hold a lifetime of misery.
Mihir's cryptic suggestion gave Korvka pause and she looked more closely at the scars, her eyes traveling to his arm where he had the matching set. She took a step closer in her curiosity just to make sure that the thoughts that were dawning on her were justified. As the only person in the mansion who had seen Michael's bear form, she knew all too well how those scars were earned and she inhaled shakily before steadying herself. "I thought you two ver brothers?" she asked softly, leaning against her door with her arms folded. Her mind was a blur: what to think? Hadn't Michael mentioned something going wrong the first time he changed... was this it? Was she looking at it? An uncharacteristic wave of sympathy washed over the ordinarily gruff Russian girl and she found that she was interested.
"We were," Mihir said, a sort of sadness blurring his angry features. "Apparently it was not enough." He turned to try to go into his room again, a cursed in his language as he remembered his key was now metal slivers on the floor. He turned to Korvka, unsure of what to say, then looked at her feet. He did not want to keep standing in the hall like an idiot.
"Oh," Korvka said, looking at him and then averting her eyes as he turned to find refuge in his room. Well there was no need to go poking around in things that weren't her business so Korvka scuffed back to her room to open the door and had just turned the knob when she heard Mihir growl something in a language that she did not understand, but she knew the tone: that was a swear word if ever she'd heard one. Looking at him as she was poised in front of her door and saw him looking at her and then the floor. "Uhh, something wrong?" she asked as she followed Mihir's eyes to the floor and saw the golden glimmer of his ruined key. Of course, Korvka had no idea that it was a key and she looked up at him with an arched brow as she gestured towards the metal on the ground. "Votch your step."
Nodding to the two in the hall Laurel shuffled through from the stairs and into a door and into a door she hadn't seen before not knowing it was the [X-Men hall East 3rd Lounge@wiki].
Eyes still on the floor, Mihir nodded. "I melted my key," he said, gesturing at the slivers on the floor. He turned and placed his head on his door again, wishing that he could melt himself. He was determined not to have a breakdown in front of Micheal's girlfriend. "I just wanted to talk to someone, but could not find Vlad," he said, his voice slightly muffled by the door.
Korvka's eyes widened as she looked at the floor and realized the metal gleaming from below was indeed Mihir's room key. She was unable to stop a little laugh from escaping her. "Ok, I know its probably not funny to you, but that's a little funny," she said with a genuine smile. "C'mon, ve can get you a new key. Besides, you don't vont to stay here and mope. Just get your mind off things for a vile," she said without waiting for Mihir's ok, stepping forward to grab his hand and pull him away from his door and led him to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Mihir grumbled under his breath, but followed her anyway.
Laurel came out of the Lounge, a little more bounce in her step, she headed to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki] with a goal of finding this Danger Room.
Happily walking towards the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki], Lisa found she liked the company of the new guy. He wasn't too tall or imposing. With Jacob around, it could be like walking with a brick, a human sized brick.
Vlad came from the center hall and disappeared into [Dormitory 393@wiki], taking his half naked, scotch holding, metal file carrying, sandpaper having butt along with him... and then a few minutes later, Vlad came back out into the hallway, freshly showered. His hair was still damp but he was dressed now in dark wash jeans, black Vans, and a white t-shirt with a gorilla face on it. In his hand was a bottle of scotch, and he crossed the hall into [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Justin kept his pace behind Lisa, he turned his head at every door they went by with a quick scan to memorize his new surroundings. This place was defiantly different from the normal schools but so far the other mutants seemed really nice. Not the deranged psychopaths the media had made them to be. He continued on to [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Just a few minutes after Vlad, Shana from the Center hall and slipped past Justin and Lisa on her way into [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki].
Feeling better than he had when he entered the kitchen, Vlad exited a few minutes later and headed back to his room, [Dormitory 393@wiki]... And then, a few moments later, headed to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki]. If anyone was looking very closely they could see he had a scotch bottle, but his hand was large and he didn't bring much attention to it.
A few seconds after Vlad, Shana emerged from the kitchen, also feeling much better than she had earlier that day. Glancing around the hall and seeing no one, the girl headed on to [X-Men Hall Center 3rd@wiki].
Korvka came from the centre hall and walked to her room, [Dormitory 392@wiki], pushing it open with her hip and then shutting it hastily behind her.
Knowing that the girls were probably changing their clothes, Mihir leaned against the wall next to the kitchen door, his staff in hand, twirling it and staring at the wall in front of him. He would wait, and watch, and do what he had always done. Mihir was good at sizing people up and finding their strengths and weaknesses. It was something all leaders were good at in one way or another. He smiled to himself, looking more cheerful than the last time he had been in this hall.
Kaider entered and almost walked past Mihir without noticing him, but this time ey managed to remind emself about noticing people before it was too late. Technically, ey didn't really have a reason to stop and chat, but ey also didn't have a reason not to do that. Of course, after that ey wondered what ey could say in the first place. Eyeing Mihir, Kaider thought that he looked sort of familiar but couldn't remember him exactly, so ey just went: "Hello, are ye new here?"
"Technically, yes," Mihir said with a smile. "I was picked up at the club last night." He looked at Kaider and saw who it was that had spoken. "I remember you. Passed out in front of me. I kind of carried you out. How are you feeling?" He could be kind when he wanted to, and right now, faced with the person he had more or less rescued from the mutant hating mob, he really wanted to see if ey was alright. Mihir still couldn't tell whether ey was a guy or girl, and it made it slightly awkward for him, mainly because he didn't want to be too sensitive if ey was a guy, or too harsh if ey was a girl.
Kaider's eyes went rather wide at hearing that Mihir, someone who was apparently completely new, had carried em out of the club. "Wow, really?" ey asked, not sounding suspicious but just surprised. "Er, thank you. Um, I feel okay, for the most part at least." After a short pause, ey offered eir hand and continued: "My name's Kaider, in case no one told that. How about ye?"
With another smile, Mihir took Kaider's hand, hoping his hand wasn't too much warmer than usual to the other. "Mihir. And you are most welcome. I am glad I could help. Though Michael did the rest by getting you somewhere to be treated." Mihir didn't want to sound like he was trying to get praise. He just wanted Kaider to know how he had recognized em. "I was hoping to meet up with you and find out how you were doing. Sorry I did not stop in the center hall. I was a bit distracted." Mihir debated for only a moment before asking his question. "I am sorry, I do not mean to offend, but I was wondering...are you an asgaya or ageyv...man or woman?"
"Right", said Kaider after Mihir explained that Michael had taken em to the infirmary. While ey was thinking of something to say, the inevitable and yet not all that often asked question came and Kaider smiled a bit. "I'm not. I'm an androgyne." Ey then thought that finally ey wasn't able to sense the other person's thoughts about the issue and smiled a little wider. Ey didn't consider that eir smile could be seen a sign that ey was joking.
Mihir accepted this without hesitation. "You are neither," he said with a nod. "Then my confusion now makes sense." Not needed to think about this topic any longer as he had his answer, Mihir moved on to his next question. "Again, I do not mean to offend, but if you care to share, why are you here? Do you have some ability? Everyone seems to have one here, and if you do not wish to share, I understand." The reason Mihir accepted Kaider's non-gender was because his people had gods that were androgynous, and he didn't find it as strange to encounter than others might.
Kaider smiled a little surprisedly at Mihir, since he seemed to take eir answer quite well. Of course, he could be just faking it and Kaider had no way to know now, but ey decided to not get caught up with that. Having heard Mihir's next question, Kaider opened eir mouth to reply and realized right then that ey had just had to explain this twice in the last few minutes. "...Well, I'm a mutant like everyone else. I was a telepath but whatever I had in the club took that away. I still have my agility. But that's not much of a superpower really..." Eir tone was rather unemotional, since that was the way ey tried to deal with the issue.
"Something happened at the club that took your telepathy away?" Mihir pondered for a moment. Was there really things that could take powers away? And if so, could they make him normal again? Would he want to be? Mihir had no idea of the answers to his internal questions, so he focused on Kaider's face and tilted his head slightly. "You are still here and among friends, right? I am sure the professor will sort it out for you in short time."
"Yeah." After Mihir said the professor would fix it, Kaider just said: "I hope he will." Looking at a wall, Kaider almost sunk into deep thoughts before ey figured that ey probably shouldn't do that in company. Instead, since Mihir had asked about eir powers, ey too asked about his, in a more curious tone: "Anyway, what can ye do, if ye don't mind my asking?"
"I make fire," Mihir said, making a small fireball that evaporated instantly in his hand as he hadn't the passion to keep it going. "Not as fun as telepathy." He shrugged. "It must be hard, not having your powers." He had begun to rely on his to keep him warm sometimes, and could hardly imagine not having them, though half of him wished that he didn't.
Kaider watched Mihir's fireball with routinish curiosity and a smile. Even if every power was new in its own way, ey had witnessed many powers and wasn't easily impressed. Ey just went "Mm-hmm" at Mihir's comment about not having telepathy anymore – it wasn't like he could understand losing a full-blown sense, at least as far as Kaider could think of him. Then again, ey didn't feel as desperate (anymore at least) as ey once thought ey would be if ey ever lost eir telepathy. Thinking that made Kaider slightly perplexed and ey looked oddly at Mihir while not actually seeing him. Ey snapped out of it, however, and looked calmly at Mihir. "Er, sorry, I hope I didn't zone out for long. It is rather hard, in fact, to remember that there are people when I can't sense them at all... Maybe we could talk about something else?" Ey looked around emself. "Were ye going someplace or something?"
Justin whisped out of the [X-Men Kitchen 3rd@wiki] and sank onto the wall right outside the wall. He ran a hand through his hair. "I need to watch myself around her. Shes's easily likable." Dumb arse, classes dontdon't start for a while. What a lame excuse to keep from losing your cool image. With a quick face palm he realized that he was right outside the door and Lisa probably heard that.
Suddenly Lisa popped out from behind the Kitchen door and smacked right into Justin and toppled over, probably taking him with her. She had come to tell him lessons weren't going to be starting any time soon and figured he would have been most of the way down the hall, not right outside it. She squeaked loudly and giggled, finding the whole thing rather hilarious and rubbed her face, looking around to see what had happened.
Since he was right outside the door to the kitchen, Mihir heard everything Justin said. He also was about to inch away from the boy when the girl ran out and knocked into the boy. Mihir's first reaction was to grab the girl to keep her from falling on her head. He managed to catch her arm and, when she giggled, he swung her up so she was standing again. "Are you okay?" Mihir asked, looking her up and down quickly to assess her well being.
Giggling louder as she got swung up, Lisa felt a little dizzy from all this action, managing to place herself well enough to realise she was still upright. "Oh why thank you, I'm fine. Just bit of a clutz sometimes, Y'all mighty fast, I must say." She cringed a little and crouched to check on Justin, hoping he didn't think she was just going to leave him on the floor or whatever. "Now you should know not to hang round out side of doors, I could ofhave hit you with it or plain ol' broke your nose or somethin'. I came to tell you Lessons wont be startin' soon." Laughing a little to herselfherself, she stood back up and smiled at Mihir. "Thank you again. I'm Lisa." She stuck out her hand and blushed a little, she was fine being a clutz roundaround a couple people but being saved and whisked up like a maiden in distress was another thing all together. Today was just turning out to be a bit of a tumble.
"Mihir," he answered as he held her steady for a moment before letting her go. He shook her hand and gave her a broad smile. "You are cute but you should not be falling for men like that," he said, giving her a wink, before turning back to Kaider to let Lisa and the boy sort out themselves. "No, actually, I was looking for something to do. I am new here and do not yet have many friends with whom I can spend time."
Nodding slowly Lisa did her best not to pull a face or recoil at the cheesy line and the wink. Crouching next to JustinJustin, she checked him over. "We're new too, just really getting to know the school and others really." She smiled at Justin and looked up to Mihir, waiting to see if he'd say anything else cheesy and entertaining while she chewed on a lip ring.
He stood up gingerly rubbing the neon red spot on his forehead from where he had collided with the floor. "Yeah, i'mI'm good." He eyed the new kid a bit. "Well at least we are all freshies here. I'm justin." He smiled a bit at the pick up line the newnewcomer comer had droppeddropped, admiring his approach and gall. "Yeah iI remembered the class announcement from the envelope as soon as iI walked out." He responded to Lisa.
Kaider looked at Lisa and Justin's tumblings with some alarm, though apparently it wasn't anything serious. They seemed to be doing the talking by themselves, and Kaider didn't catch much of it since no word specifically caught eir attention and ey was still processing their sudden entrance. Then Mihir turned back to em and ey focused on him instead, though now ey did catch Lisa's and Justin's comments about being new as well. Ey smiled a little and said: "I see. Well, I can tell what there is to do around here. There's the lounge, the Danger Room downstairs an' the pools an' other stuff outside. Many people also do whatever they want in their rooms, too. Sometimes the teachers organize something, but usually not, so we're just sort of left to our own." Kaider started thinking about the lounge, pondering how it would be like to play a multiplayer video game now that ey couldn't read anyone's mind. While ey did that, ey stared absently at a small hole in a wall.
