"Here ye, Here ye. All Fair people I Adam have returned to you with NEWS. News that i have found the way. The way to Freedom!! freedom from the Evils of Magic." A man shouted out over the crowd gathered to here the words of the prophet "It is True i can see there is no Lie in his eyes." upon this the crowd burst into chatter. For the Man who spoke up was none other than the village elder to who's knowledge no one questioned.

"i don't know, it seems to good to be true" spoke one voice

"But if the elder says he is than he must be telling the truth " spoke another.

a dark hooded figure stood on a near by roof over looking the crowd "hmmm... it would seem the old fool has finally done it... or lost his mind"



"How do we know we can trust you.. Or the elder?!" a young boy yells out over the chatting crowd as he held a bag up close to his chest.Looks up at the guy.

Adam looked at the child with a suspicious glare "because i have seen it with my own two eyes, a new land Free of Magic. if you don't believe me then i shall prove it to you" said reaching into his pocket and fetching out a jar with a tinny fresh watter turtle way to small to be any thing from this realm were what few turtles there are, are the size of a house or bigger.

The young boy looked around at the crowd then up at the guy watching."That doesn't say anything! Anyone with magic can make a turtle smaller than what it really is!" his grip on the bag got tighter not knowing what he was doing and hoping they wouldn't hurt him.

"even if i were a magician i doubt i could do something this magnificent, and this isn't the only one, this world is filled with beast that seem exactly the same as they would be here except for they were free from any magical taint that would make them stronger or faster or smarter" he cleared his throat and continued "i passed a bear and waved to say high, but instead of turning to say high back like the ones we know here it just growled at me as if it knew not what i meant."

"What are you saying that its best that the Creatures here shouldnt talk to us and tell us what is on their mine and what they see in life!?" narrows his dark and yet light blue eyes at him.

Adam the prophet sighed at the child's constant questions but continued to answer more to the crowd than to the child "that is but an example. what i have found is a world were we can live and thrive in peace with out worrying about our crops being burned or our sheep being massacred just because some dragon thought it funny, no longer will our people be enslaved to do the biding of these tyrannical monsters that inhabit this realm..."

suddenly speaking up the hooded figure had dropped from his precarious perch. now standing in the crowd a beaming voice that seemed to belong to a much larger man than that stood there spoke out " and how did you find this promise land of yours, after all you said it yourself you've been in the wilderness for quiet a while, how do we know you didn't just imagine this promise land of yours?"

"have i knot shown you people evidence have i not brought you enough truth? even the your ever skeptical elder believes me, and hes never been wild about my ventures." he sighed and turned to leave as most of the crowd had dissipated and the hour had already begun to grow late. "i don't know what else i can do to prove it to you, i have given you all i have do with it what you will"with that he left with what was left of the crowd

The hooded figure remained however and just stood there with a very thought full look on his face with a big "hmmmm.." he turned to look at child that had been causing all the fuss "you should be more careful when opening your mouth child, had this been a less peacefully crowd they might have elected to crucify you for your blasphemy"

Had moved away to give the guy room then looks up at the guy."I just wanted to know."he looks down at his bag then looks at the guy."I...I must go..."

the hooded man nods and takes to leaving as well walking the opposite direction towards an inn

The boy stops and turns his head looking over his shoulder at the guy watching him go.Then turns back to walks home, seeing how late it was he took off running, holding the bag close to his body.He was thinking." Oh no his going to kill me.Why did I stop to listen that fool?"

He gets home.walks in the front door of the house. There his master stood tapping his toes and his arms folded.Moves his finger so the boy had to come to him. A deep voice came from the master. "Where have you been Arex!?" The boy goes up to his master not looking into his eyes then looks down at his feet."LOOK at me and Answer me!?" when Arex looked up at his master the man hits Arex on the face. Hitting his cheek making him fall to the floor and sending the bag he had flying hitting the ground too. All the stuff that was inside had rolled out.The master saw what he had done and got down on his kneels and took the Arex's chin and then kisses his cheek."I am sorry please forgive me?" He said it in a soft voice and being gentle with the Arex.Arex nods his head slowly.

that night as every one slept, evil creped into the town. slowly but surely an unsettling darkness eased on top of the town. the scene to any one still awake resembled a massive storm gathering over head as a chilled wind knocked lamps against walls and thrapped and tapped wooden blinds on the windows. a roar like thunder hummed in the cloud as all else went silent. and the only thing that could be heard was the low grumble of the storm. soon after the first bolt of lightning struck the ground an unnatural cold filled the air slicking the paved streets with ice and turning breath to ice as it is breathed. despite these strange occurrences all remained in there beds merely stirring a bit as if it were just another storm passing. Chris however sat up in his bead and looked out the inn windows, for he knew that what ever this was, it was no average storm.
Soon the lighting picked up and you wouldn't have enough time to count to one before another one hit. now people began to wake up. one of the houses was burning. people all over the town rushed and slid over to the burning house to try and put out the fire. but the watter in all the wells had frozen solid . Bang another bolt crashed into a near by house setting it ablaze. Chris no longer in his hotel room rushed to get the people who where in town out and to the edge of the Forrest were there was a cliff face they could take shelter under.

Fire ran rampant through the town burning all in its path, with nothing to put it out and every one fleeing the town it quickly over took a few more houses spreading its gloomy fingers forward reaching out for one after another. a woman screamed "Monster, Monster!" in one of the buildings that had just caught fire. Chris ran in

The young boy opened his windows to find the town in flames.He turns to wake his master but finds him no where to be seen. The told himself that His master must have gone out yet again.He qucikly gets out of bed getting his clothes on and running as fast as he could towards the burnning town. He stops right away when he got to the town. Looking around at all the building burnning he goes over to the well and looks down apon the frozen water. He grabs someones arm as they were running by. "whats going on? what is happening?" wanting to know what caused this storm.He was being turned around watching the lightning.He thinks to himself. This isnt normal.

Chris the man from the day before came bursting out of one of the near by burning building carrying a hysterically screaming mother and here two children. As he ran past the boy from earlier that day, he gave him a good nudge in the right direction yelling "What are you mad get moving before this whole place burns takeing us with it"

He looks at the man then turns to watch everyone run the same area.Looks back at the buildings before following the man.

As Chris sat the woman and her two children down and began to turn back only to see Adam the so called Prophet from the day before rushing back with the last of the towns people. the woman still screaming hysterically "those eyes" she shivered. "What did you see?" Chris asked the woman lifting her chin making her look into his eyes "Face... like a SNAKE!" she whispered loud enough for Adam to here who at that got a real scared look on his face. "CLAWS... Fire!!!!" she seemed to collect herself a bit and spoke a bit more clearly "it was he who burned the town".

Whispers began to spread quickly and Adam took to silencing them "You see! these being will not let us bee! we will never have peace if we remain here like this"
a great big "AYE" signifying the crowds approval sounded from those not in to much pain to do so.

Arex looks at the woman then turns to face the burning town.After hearing the woman he looks at the woman thne to the man."what is she talking about?"

"honestly kid.... I have no fucking idea" Chris spoke out watching the town burn almost thinking he saw the shadow of a snake but it was nothing more than the flames playing a trick


Arex looks at the town then moves his eyes over to his masters house would be."Um..do you think the fire will go over there?" points in the area.

"... I don't know it looks like its moving pretty fast it will most likely burn with the rest of the town" Chris looks once more at the so called prophet once more "THOUGH ID SUGGEST, we send as many able bodied men over there to fetch as many supply's as we can from those houses that haven't caught yet before its all lost to the flame" Chris announced as if to insult the intelligence of Adam for not takeing that into consideration.

Adam nodded and volunteered to head over along with several other of the larger men who went to gathering more people to help. soon a group of 20 or so men had assembled and Chris lead them off to loot as much of the houses as possible. but before he left remembering the child thought of something and ran over to him "I want you to keep a close watch on the fire from here and blow on this ass soon as it looks like its getting to close to us. so we can get out quickly" he reaches into his robe and pulls out a horn about the child's size "you think you can do that for me kid?"

Looks at it then looks at the guy"One thing I'm not a Kid.The names Arex and No.Im coming with My home is over there and I have to make sure that everyone inside it out." he looks at the guy.

With sort of a grunt Chris said "very well, its your life throw it away if you want. but realize the lives your putting at risk if some one cant inform us and we don't get out in time?" he looks at him sternly with a sigh turns and runs towards the buildings and tossing the horn to a woman near by who was listening in "here you look like a competent woman I'm sure you'll do a better job any ways" with that he is gone to loot the houses

Arex looks at him with a glare then runs with the guys. He kept to himself as he ran with the guys.

Kicking in one door after another and loading up carts and wagons Chris and the group of men quickly round up enough supplies to get every one by for at least a week leaving the town in shambles as they riped and tore through every thing as quickly as possible just trying to gather what they needed to survive.

A young girl walked through the forest,her hair over her face so it looked like she couldn't see.

Arex goes to his house and opens the door and calls everyone to run for the shelter.

Mercury sees Arex and blinks innocently.

A small boy standing in the doorway of an old house stands looking down watching the beetles and ants carry little crumbs from his bread away,"Hmm...where do I start?"

Mercury saw the boy.She walked up to him."Pardon me,but to you know where we are?"

Arex turns and looks at the person."what?!"

Merc growled."Don't yell at me.."

"Can't you see the town is on fire?" he looks at the girl

"Reason one why I'm asking you where am I,that way,I can try to help."

Chris steps into the door "looks like we didn't quiet get every one..." he says takeing a bite of an apple he found and motioning for the kids to follow him "quickly i must get you out of the city this fire is spreading pretty fast!" with that a loud low pitched bellow from a horn echoed through the town and Chris said "Shit! COME ON!!!" and scooped up both of them and ran as fast as he could out of town towards were the people were hunkering down at.

MErcury meeped when Chris scooped her up.

Al wriggles loose from Chris and falls to the ground, after dusting himself off he turns and walks the opposite direction,"No."

"NO!!" fights his way out. "No let me go I cant go not yet." he looks at the man.

Mercury blinks."Please,why won't you come with us?"

Chris growls and grabs him once more holding him tight this time " sorry kid I'm not in the mood to let any one die today YOUR COMING!" Chris takes off towards the forest with the restrained child in one arm and the contempt one in the other.

Al bites his arm and tries to get loose again,"Let go‼ You forgot someone, let me GO‼"

He stopped and looked at the child "who?" he said punting them both down

"No one, haha!" Albert turns and runs down an alley

Chris leaps and tackles the kid "ha ha so funny kid I'm not letting you stay here and burn to death not even if i have to drag you out of here by your ear!" it was more of a warning than a threat because as soon he had said it Chris grabbed a tight hold on one of the kids ears and pulled him up and started dragging him by it towards the shelter area and motioned for the girl to follow.

Merc nodded and followed."Its for the best,kid."She told Al.

Glares at them."We have animals in the barn, you FOOL!" watches him then looks back at the house.

"don't worry we got every thing salvageable out of that town. if your animals were still alive they would be over here" Chris said rather irritatedly towards the kid finally reaching the camp and signaling for two of the larger men to run come over "i don't know whats wrong with this one he keeps trying to run back into the burning town help me tie him up till the fires died down and he cant kill himself" he threw the two a rope and they proceeded to tie the kid to a tree.

"Oh come on, you're gonna tie me up?! This isn't a rescue, it's a kidnapping" Al kicks and squirms trying to get out, "You guys really forgot someone, you left my friend back in the house, let me go get him!"

Arex pushes the guy off of him and he walks to the shelter...

Chris sees him walk back "ah good i was afraid id have to go back and look for you" he then looks at the kid tied up "tell me what your friend looks like and i promise you ill get him out safe and sound for you. as for your animals you can tell one of these genitalmen what they look like and they can go see that they are safely taken care of"

"I could have done it myself thank you!Animals look like animals." rolls eyes as he looks away then goes over to the boy that was tied up and sits down leaning on the tree.

"He looks...like this" Pulls his ears out and inflates his cheeks "His name is Balt, and he likes to throw things"

"OK, from what you've said he shouldn't be hard to find." Chris ran off back towards the town partiality just in case the kid was telling the truth but mostly because he was tired of listening to him wine. not that he didn't like kids. the one from the day before and the girl seemed just fine but this other one was picking on the mans last nerve. Upon approaching the house again he started to get a little more serious and started searching for the kid all around yelling "Balt?!"

Al looks down at his feet and laughs a bit"Stupid monkey...hope he finds him"

Arex looks at the boy then at the men as they were busy the boy slide out of side and heads back to his house.

"Does this 'Balt',even exsist?Or did you just send him to his doom?"Merc asked Al.

Al looks over at Merc and nods"Of course he does. Balt, this necklace and my ring are my treasure..Why wouldn't they exist?He may be in danger...but I said I would go back so it was his choice if he dies. By the way, I'm Albert, what's your name? And where did that other guy go?"

Merc blinked in confusion."I'm Mercury...But call me Merc."

Chris walked back with a monkey on his shoulder and a disturbed look on his face for the monkey was being less than hospitable to him "your hilarious kid i should have known... it would be something like this"

"You found him! Come here Balt, haha, untie me! or at least gnaw the rope off?"Al calls, patting on the ground.
The monkey scurries over and begins gnawing on the ropes trying to free Al."Thank you, sir...What's your name? and that other guy? Haha Nice to meet you, Merc!"

untieing the ropes hoping this time the kid wouldn't try to run this time he said "names Chris... I'm afraid i don't know anyone else's"

"Oh, ok...I'm going to look around.Sorry for causing you trouble" With Balt holding to Al's head, he takes off for a peek around the site.
Merc corsses her arms and blinks.

Arex slides his way back into the group.Looks around."Chris? Right..how long do you think we will have to stay here?"

Albert hangs upside-down from the lowest tree branch, Balt looking at them hanging by Albert's hair, "40 days and 40 nights...and we forgot the gazelle.."

"how ever long it takes to rebuild the city i guess but i have a feeling that if the people have there way were probably going to wind up going to this promise land that, that Adam fellow keeps rambling about" he said pulling another apple out of his robe and bighting into it leaning back up against the tree

Albert falls out of the tree onto his neck laughing "Promise land?"

Chris shrugs "i guess..."

Albert rolls over and sits up,"Where is it?"

he shrugs once more "i don't know... I'm not necessarily the person to ask... go find that "prophet" guy and ask him"

"Ahh...OK, bye"Albert walks a good ways so no one can see him and slips back through into town.That took a while, c'mon Balt, we've got work to do

Arex leans on the tree and listen to him and shakes his head.

Merc follows Albert and grabs his arm."No you dont."

"Afraid so...there are things in my house that need to be kept how they are, and mine wasn't on fire."Albert sighs and jerks his arm to get her to let go"So if you'd be so kind as to let me go, I was doing a good job keeping my home safe."

Arex walks over to the people that were at the house with him. An older maid goes over to the boy and cleans him up again making sure everything was ok with him.

Chris stands in front of the house he rescued the two kids from and watches it burn. some how the man had beet Albert there and was lazily watching it burn as if he had the urge to pull out a bag of marshmallows and cook them. this is ridiculous of course because there is no such thing as

Arex watches Chris then moves the maid away asking her something but she didnt know and looks over at Chris again.Walks over to him."um..Chris?"

"yes?" the man said watching all these people had known burn away with a almost disturbing look of amazement

"Well there is someone out there but we dont know where he is." looks down "His my master." says it softly so only Chris can hear it.

"by that you mean that you are a slave?" he said also in a hushed tone.

he looks down at the ground as he nods slowly."Yes. I have been my whole life. He took me in when no one else would." he slowly looks up at Chris as the light from the fire was dacing on his face.

"what do you want me to do about it?" Chris sighed looking away from the fire and at Arex. "Besides shouldn't you be happy you cant find him?" Chris said with almost a grin "with him gone your free!"

Arex looks at him."No I'm not happy not at all. He is all I have as a family! His not like others. Never mind..." walks off and goes to the group that had gone out of the house he was in and told them. You can see some nods then shakes then the old maid hugs the boy.

She let go of him."What ever."Merc said.

Chris sighed walked over to him "forgive me if i seemed rude, its just the general nature of the matter is something rather different" he said letting out another long drawn out sigh and placing his hands on his head and looking up at the tree tops "ill find your master..."

"Don't worry about it." Arex doesnt look at Chris. "And now you know why I was asking those questions.."

"in the square?" Chris asked

"yes." he looks at Chris. "My master would hit me but then he would be sorry for it.He hardly does hit
me. He love me and he cares for everyone in the house whole."

Mercury started wandering around

Chris picked his staff and turned to walk of "well i best be going then"

Arex pauses for a moment."Chris may I come along?..Please?"

Chris stopped "NO! i will return in exactly a months time stay with this group and i will find you. if you do this than i will do every thing in my powers to return with your master" he turns again to leave

"But you dont know what he looks like..." Arex looks at Chris's back "and what are we supose to do? huh just watch the town burn down and then do what?"

"just stay with these people no mater what stay with them! i will return in a months time, tell me his name and i will find him!" Chris said continuing on slowly enough to make sure he got rid of Arex before he walked to far

"But..grr" growls. "I dont know his name but for Master"

"then i will return with MASTER"

Arex looks at Chris as he walks away.

Chris walks away and disappears into the forest

Arex walks back the his group then turns to look the area that Chris walked.Whispers to the group then head off to where Chris walked.

Adam the man from the day before walked up and put a hand on his shoulder "wheres a brave soul like you wandering off to on a night so horrible as this? come on we need all the people to gather for a moment"

Arex stands still then looks over at the hand and his eyes run along the arm to the face of the man."None of your business. And I cant just stand and wait for Chris to come back empty handed."

"you mean that man from the square?... something tells me that man can take care of himself... something tells me hes more than you'd think" Adam said letting go of Arex's shoulder

glares at the guy."Wait.. Your that Guy that was telling people about the perect place...Right?"

Adam nods

"Thought so..Dont you ever touch me again you hear me."

Adam holds his hands up and backs off with a half laugh "sure what ever you say, im just trying to look out for your safety... as for all these peoples" he says motioning towards the group more particularly towards Arex's friends, the maid and the people with her.

"They are fine. They are just worried about our Master.His still out there!.That is who I'm going to go look for. And I dont need you to look out for me.If you remember.. I'm the one who was asking the questions." he rolls his eyes before going after Chris.

Adam walked back to the group thinking to himself "that boys going to get himself killed." he hesitated but then continued walking till he reached the center of the group and started motioning for the people to gather

"And to let you know sir."the old maid spoke to Adam." Arex is a well strong boy. He looks out for all of us. When we should be the ones looking out for him. His not going to kill himself. For one thing..Our Owner has put a spell on the boy to protect him form harm."

"did your master also put a spell on you to give you amazing hearing and the ability to read minds for i have spoke nothing to you but you seem so keenly astute on my personal opinions..." Adam replied with a confused look on his face.

"No I was born with that.I dont like it when I can hear everyone speak in their minds, but I have to live with it." She looks at him. "Only a few people have born with something like this.And I am sorry. For doing that." she smiles softly. "I try to show kindness to people around here. Arex can be alittle up tight, but his a sweet boy.Give him time."

"very well but if i were you i wouldn't go around telling any one about what you've told me" Adam sighed and scuffed his boot " I'm sure its nothing to worry about but most people don't take to kindly to individuals with... Special, talents. might not look to good for you or your master especially after what happened tonight, people always look for some one to blame and a would be psychic and a spell caster would be a easy start" Adam scuffed his boots again and walked back towards the center of the group

The old lady listens to the man and nods her head.
