Scene Six

(He is watching them from his tree and he is getting angered. Mr. Nobody is playing with a paddle toy while sitting in He‘s throne.)

Mr. Nobody- London bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down.

He- The humans are moving on! I must think of something to slow them down! (looks at the vulture) Ah, yes my pet! Fly, fly and destroy the fools!

(The vulture caws and flies away. The scene shifts to the humans. They do not notice that the Phoenix is sitting in the trees, watching them.)

Olympia- Do you think we'll ever find this guy again?

Mr. Dolore- Have faith child! We shall prevail! (stomach growls) Right now lets rest and try to find food!

Olympia- (sits down) Good idea! I'm starved!

(The Vulture is sitting a tree, eyeing them all in hunger. His eyes land on Boyce and he licks his chomps.)

Mr. Dolore- Maybe if we're lucky we'll be invited to dinner!

(The Vulture swoops down and grabs Boyce.)

Olympia- Right now it looks like Boyce is going to be dinner!

Boyce- Help!

(The two of them run after him, seeing only his feet. They chase after him for a long time until they're out of breathe. Mr. Dolore watches as Boyce is carried away.)

Mr. Dolore- This can't be good!

(The Phoenix is watching from her tree. She has been following them the whole time.)

Olympia- (sits down) Poor Boyce. I was starting to like him.

Mr. Dolore- (sits besides her) Me too! He reminded me of myself as a boy. (Looks at Olympia) You remind me of myself too!

Olympia- How?
Mr. Dolore- I was a dreamer as well. Other mocked me during my school days, my teachers said I was foolish and my parents sometimes told me to stop but I never did.

Olympia- But my beloved mother says my imagination it false.

Mr. Dolore- Tell me, who is charge of your imagination?

Olympia- Well……….I am.

Mr. Dolore- Do not let anyone steer your imagination but you!

(The Phoenix screams loudly yet happily. The two turn and notice her for the first time.)

Olympia- Oh Mr. Dolore look!

Mr. Dolore- What a lovely bird!

Olympia- Do you think she can help us?

Mr. Dolore- Its worth a shot! Oh pretty birdie! Can you help us find our friend!

(She glides down to them and nods. She flies off and the two of them follow. Boyce is tied to a steak while the Vulture is boiling water. The Phoenix lands in front of Boyce. She unties him and he joins the other two humans. The Vulture turns and sees the Phoenix. It is love at first sight for them both. He bows and kisses her wing. She blushes.)

Boyce- I've never seen a Phoenix blush before!

Olympia- I've never seen a Phoenix period!

(The Love Birds' Dance.)

Olympia- That was beautiful!

Mr. Dolore- Truly!

Boyce- Yeah (pause) Can we leave now?

Mr. Dolore- Sure.

(They watch for a while and then leave.)

2004-04-27 [mywolfalways]: I think this last scene may be my favorite so far. I remember imagining I was a cat when I was younger (“Aristocats” from Disney only helped the situation). I thought the concept was really great here though. To live in imagination is grand, but not for forever.

2004-04-27 [Blaze the Nameless]: Thank you!
