He had been a bad boy, a bad angel. He had been very disobedient as of late, always questioning, always angry, flustering the other angels, trying to force them into fiery debates. The other angels grew weary of Amethyst. He may be the oldest of all the angels the goddesses’ had created, but he had grown arrogant…Oh so very arrogant.

The goddesses made thousands of angels over their existence. They were there to help them and to guide the mortal creatures below into lives of serenity, understanding and morality. Amethyst, however, was no longer taking care to give his daily blessings to the world below. Instead he stormed about the Heavens, cursing the very goddesses that had created him.

He demanded to know why they forced him to associate with suffering still. He was far too experienced to be forced to carry the diseased and sick souls to Heaven. How dare they continue to demean him. He was better than that. He deserved better. Suffering could not touch him, he was far too perfect. He was the first angel. He was perfect.

Amethyst has become very troubled… Difalnor, the Goddess of Wisdom said softly, sadly.

His kind heart clashes with his disturbed mind… He will undo himself. Laienor, the Goddess of Love agreed, her hands raising to clasp over her heart in despair.

He grows dangerous. Felicenor, the Goddess of Power stated quietly.

There was a silence.

Amethyst… must learn to understand suffering. Wisdom said quietly, she moved across the silent abyss, her long white locks trailing behind her as if gravity did not exist—and it did not, for they were three goddesses of one mind. Purely in existence as nothing more than one single consciousness, three spirit.

We will subdue his powers and send him to the world below. Felicenor stated plainly, dropping her chin into one raised hand. For we cannot kill him, nor can we strip him of his angelical powers, for that would be far too cruel for even I… Instead we will mask his memories, his powers and send him below to learn suffering… and why it must exist. Explaining all of this to the child is of no merit. He does not trust us.

Then we cannot hope to explain the situation either… Oh, my dearest Amethyst, how thy heart will feel so betrayed. Love let out a mournful sob that echoed throughout the Heavens. The angels paused, feeling the grief of their goddess painfully in their own hearts. Many stopped to pray quietly her, wishing her sorrowed soul to find ease and comfort in their prayers.

Kindest Laienor, cry not… For Amethyst will return to your bosom one day a new angel. Wisdom was gentle as she spoke to Love, One far more grateful, and far more kind… My Own, your strength I must possess.

The three came together, their hearts becoming one single rhythmic beat. Power surged forward and sought out the one it dared to contain….

…He was dying. Curse them, they were killing him. He could feel it. His body was twisting and convulsing as he fell. His wings were being torn apart, feathers uprooted themselves and disappeared as his body continued to plummet to the world below. Something inside of him was tearing apart and slowly building back. He could hear nothing but a horrible hum as air shot past his ears, his long white hair slashed at his face like whips and his amethyst eyes poured tears.

The angel fell and as he did his once flowing robes seemed to melt away, slowly readjusting into a smaller, almost white gown—small now to fit his suddenly toddler-like appearance. The plummeting feeling eased and Amethyst narrowed his eyes dangerously at the heavens, but before he could scream a cry of defiance, the look of hatred disappeared from his face and the little boy let out a sudden and painful sob.

He was alone, so terrible alone… and his memories, all of them, were gone. The fallen angel found his footing, for he somehow was now in the middle of a plush-like grass. He trembled as he walked, crying, his little hands gripping the shrubs about him as he walked. He wanted someone to hold him, to comfort him, to bring him into their arms and—

“Oh, no, little one. Are you lost?”

The toddler turned to the voice and with a start Kaelin nearly dropped the groceries in his arms.

The boy was beautiful.

His white locks were long, wavy and gorgeous as they flowed about his tiny body. Wide, violet orbs stared desperately behind the almond shaped eyes. Despite the fact that the boy wore what appeared to be a little girls dress, Kaelin’s eyes could only focus on the small crimson chakra on the boys forehead. Wasn’t that a sign of—

The boy let out a wail and his arm rose up, fingers clenching and unclenching, tears streaming down his face. Kaelin immediately dropped the bags he carried, running to the boy and kneeling down in front of him before pulling him into a tight embrace.

“Oh, no, please don’t cry, little one. You’ll be all right… I’ll find your mommy and daddy for you and…”

Protect him, Kaelin, son of Xavier, father to all. Protect, Amethyst and let him grow.

Kaelin heard the words spoke directly to him, but not in his mind… in his heart. The monk blinked widely, blinking slowly and his grip around the boy tightened. “Amethyst?” he said softly, drawing the boy away. The white-haired beauty had stopped crying and now stared fondly up at Kaelin. His tiny hands gripped the monks long lavender sleeves and he giggled. Kaelin chuckled back quietly. “Oh, my… I don’t mind, little one, adding one more to the family… but Yami…” Kaelin shook his head, laughing. Well, he certainly couldn’t leave the poor thing out here regardless.

Kaelin stood and reached down to lift the little boy up onto his shoulders. “You hold on tight, okay?”

The boy wiggled his feet and laughed, his hands burying themselves into the monks long golden locks. He kicked his feet and jerked the mans hair around almost as if he were a horse. Kaelin snorted with laughter at the thought, careful as he leaned down to pick up his groceries.

“Do you talk, little one?”

Amethyst shoved the blondes hair into his mouth in response and Kaelin laughed.

/Oh dear… he’s a little behind, but I think we can manage./

“…” Yami stared over the top of his reading glasses. He sat in a chair a book in his lap, one finger pressed to the middle of a paragraph where he had left off. His eyes continued to stare at the little boy sitting atop of his husbands shoulders. Yami looked a way a moment, swallowing thickly before looking back at the blonde who smiled awkwardly in response. “…I thought you were getting groceries…” Yami stated flatly, “Not… Getting…” His eye twitched and he reached up to rub them, “Kaelin… what…?”

Kaelin set the groceries on the counter before reaching up to pull the two-year old off his shoulders and then grinning set the boy in Yami’s lap. Yami gave his husband a deadpan stare, mouth slightly slack.

“Kaelin, look…” Yami sighed before finally looking at the toddler. He paused, pursing his lips before reaching up to brush the boys hair away to stare at the crimson charka. “…What is this?”

“I don’t know.” Kaelin admitted, sitting next to the Prince and leaning into him. “He doesn’t talk… but I know his name is Amethyst.”

“Is that all he knows?”

“No… I heard… a voice… when I touched him.” Yami looked at the other sharply and Kaelin continued earnestly, “It was a comforting voice, Yami. Nothing sinister. I trust the voice… It told me to protect Amethyst and to help him grow.”

“And what the hell does that mean?” Yami grumbled, sighing. He reached up to pull off his glasses and the little boys fingers shot out to take them from him and he promptly shoved them into his mouth and began to gnaw fiercely on it. Yami stared, startled.

“He appears to have a ‘mine’ complex.” Kaelin stated, giggling.

Yami gave the boy a disgruntled stare before reaching up and tugging on the glasses until he freed them from the boys grip. Amethyst let out a wail reaching for them. The crimson-eyed demon shook his head, completely disgruntled.

“I don’t know why… but I’m going to allow this. Most of the kids are out of the house by now and at the academy… I think Miles would enjoy having a little brother anyways. He always seems really bored.”

“So have you, Yami…When Miles is at school all you do is read.”

“I like to read.” Yami stated defensively, adjusting Amethyst in his lip. The little boy cooed up at him before snuggling against his new father and with a content sigh was asleep instantly. Clearing his throat uncomfortably Yami looked at Kaelin, “…I really think Flouresce is going to kill us.”

“I think not. One more little brother to reign over.” There was a sweet laughter in Kaelins’ tone.

Yami itched the back of his head, frowning at the sleeping boy. “For some reason, I feel like this one’s going to be a little devil.”

Had Yami known the true origins of the boy, he probably would have laughed at the irony.

Instead, the goddesses laughed collectively for him.
