Character name: Ariel Syrene
Race: Human
Age: 22
Height: 175 cm
Eye color/shape: Almond shaped and bright blue
Hair color/style: Her hair is long and dark red, falling down her back in a cascade of curls. She usually wears it in a messy bun tied back at the nape of her neck.
Face specifics: A pretty, heart shaped face with large eyes and a small, rosebud mouth. She is very prone to freckles due to her pale skin.
Body specifics: Tall and slender, with the strong, lean limbs of a swimmer.
Occupation: Currently unemployed as she uses all her time and funds to go against the Patin Society.
History: Ariel was born the only daughter of a rather eccentric inventor, specializing in maritime inventions. Her mother died while she was very young, and the two of them lived alone in a small cottage by the sea. Ariel would spend her time swimming and collecting sea shells while her father worked. Sometimes she was allowed inside his workshed, as long as she didn't touch anything. Her father's biggest dream was to build a submarine, but in his later years he spent most of his time on a very different project, namely to build a machine that could access and make use of the magical dust stored beneath the ground. He used years trying to perfect this invention, but unfortunately he never finished it. He was found dead in his workshed one night and the machine, as well as all his work drawings, were gone. A month later the new DustDrill was launched with Patin Society fundings. Rumours had it that the Godmother's personal hitman, Augustine Wolfe, was behind the brutal murder of Ariel's father, but no one knew for sure. Ariel vowed all the same not to rest until her father's lifework was back in the hands of good, where it truly belonged, and the Patin Society, Godmother and Wolfe included, were thoroughly punished.
Personality: Ariel is stubborn, impatient and easily angered. She grew up very sheltered and is appalled at all the things people will go through in the name of wealth and power. She has a lot of high standards and can be almost annoyingly righteous at times, and not a small bit naive at others. However, her heart is definitely in the right place and she's not afraid to dig in with both hands and do an effort for what she believes is right. She's also something of a romantic, having had much time on her hands as a child to read all sorts of romantic novels, and she honestly believes that good will prevail in the end.
Sexual preference: Men, preferably tall and blond and princely (like in the novels).
Relations: She is closely tied to the underground movement and has a burning desire to see Augustine Wolfe writhe in pain.
Abilities: Ariel is a very able swimmer after spending most of her life by the sea. She is also a fast reader and has a fairly good hand, so she's been known to do secretary work when low on funds. She also has inside knowledge of her father's inventions, having seen all his drawings, and although she wasn't allowed to participate in the actual makings of the different machines, her theory is sound.

React to the following statement ic (in character):

"Hey! Don't think I'm stupid. I know what you're up to."

Ariel hesitated for half a second before she continued on her way, just barely stifling her desire to look behind her.

"Hey, you! Stop right there!"

Ariel gulped and fastened her pace, pretending not to have heard. She headed for the corner and the minute she rounded it she started to run. She ran as fast as she could, hoisting up her skirts and glancing over her shoulder every once in a while to make sure she wasn't being followed. When she was absolutely certain that she'd lost anyone attempting pursuit, she stopped and drew in large gulps of air to satisfy her heaving chest. She leaned on the nearest wall, running a hand across her forehead to wipe away the sweat that had gathered there. Once she deemed herself something resembling calm again, she gathered up her hair, which had somehow slipped out of her ponytail while she ran, and tied it back with a deft hand. Sighing, she smoothed down her dress, a faint blush spreading over her freckled cheeks. Perhaps she shouldn't have run off like that. She might have overreacted just a teensy weensy bit. Oh well, nothing to do about it now. She just hoped the others never heard about this. She would never be able to live it down.

Picking a small piece out lint off of her dress, Ariel looked at the people passing by. "I really need to find someone who can teach me how to lie properly," she mused out loud, then picked herself tigether and continued on her way.
