Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb review

It's been a long time since I read a book I couldn't put down, and so I was glad I had the Easter weekend to sit down with this one.

This is a fantasy novel focusing on the story of a royal bastard balancing an apprenticeship as an assassin, working as a stable hand, and learning other courtly ways - all the while hiding a secret that he has a magical link to animals. The book starts off a bit slow for a fair few (important) pages, but once it gets going it has an exciting pace.

I found myself in tears far more than smiling through this book, but the amazing story was well worth my moments of misery! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this trilogy.
