ASSAULT LEGION: ACT I.

Adrien sighed and set his book aside on the branch, giving up. I think I read that last line about twenty times... he thought forlornly, scratching his head. He wobbled slightly in the process and grabbed onto the tree trunk, heart jumping slightly at almost falling. After all, the branch he was sitting on was a good 20 feet off the ground.
Distantly, a clock struck, and almost as if he was a robot, Aithne rose from his seat in the school, closing his book. He couldn't focus on the last chapter. If he squinted his eyes enough, he could've sworn he made out what looked like the shape of a man sitting in a tree in the courtyard from the window. It had startled him at first, and then he passed the thought off as absurd. No one in this area sat in trees. His eyes drifted upwards at the clock, and he dismissed himself to wander the courtyard. Sometimes the thoughts we dismiss are reality. That's what Teacher says...
Hidden in the shadows of the clock tower Diedric watched the two young men with a slight interest. After a few moments his interest was lost and he turned his attention to a sapphire opal in his hand. The little necklace had belonged to his last victim. A beautiful young lady that had begun to blossom into a beautiful woman. He closed his hand around the necklace and placed it in his coat pocket, smirking slightly. What's hers is mine and what's mine is mine.
Aithne reached the courtyard and found that he couldn't see anyone. Disappointing, he thought. He sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets, book tucked neatly under one arm. Is Teacher ever wrong? Yet, as he walked there was a stirring among his senses. Something, that if he were to think about, he wouldn't be able to place his finger on. Instinctively he looked up at the clock tower, the master of all his actions. Was there another man that way? He blinked. They're tricks of the light... He shook his head of it, and headed towards his house. How absurd today is, he thought, Something tells me today will not go as it usually does. For now, however, he continued on his way home right on schedule.
Diedric turned his head just as Aithne looked up at the tower. He narrowed his eyes slightly and was just about to move deeper into the tower when said teen turned away. "Hmmmn..." he murmured softly as he watched him leave. Maybe this child will be more fun than that last one was?
Aithne cast his head downwards as he always did when he walked home. He always felt eyes on him. He could just hear the whispers as he moved along the sidewalks. "That's the boy with the ears!" "The witch's son!" they would say so hushed. He hated the rasp quality to their voices. Yet today there was a silence. A strange silence; an eerie one. There was someone-- or something-- that hadn't been there before.
Diedric followed Aithne a good bit behind him, but still in hearing distance. As he walked past the people whispering to each other he gave them a cold glare, quickly shutting them up. He had this cold aura around him and walked with his head held high, challenging anyone to say something to him.
Adrien's attention was caught by that aura, passing by on the streets below. Up in his tree, the only one standing in this concrete forest, he had a good view of what went on below. And, with the help of a few simple charms, no one was the wiser. It was times like these he was grateful of those stubborn teachers who had taken the time to teach him such spells, for the man who had just caught Adrien's attention didn't seem like someone you'd want to notice you. Slowly, he leaned back against the tree trunk, hoping the man hadn't noticed him.
