BATMAN COMICSSSS

I, [NOOOPE] have only read one or two, and was more of a BTAS kid growing up. Please feel free to list comics and your reviews of them. Rate it, separate comics with lines, try to repeat what's there.

The Killing Joke

M- (*** three starts out of 5) Beautiful art, beautiful layouts, yadda yadda, I was not happy. Being a Joker whore, I thought his origin story was weak. WEAK. The Joker is deeply messed up. A total sociopath. Saying he got to this intensely messed up state was the result of a rough patch in a comedy career, an exploding microwave, and a trip into an acid vat, in my opinion, is FAR from doing the character justice, and I reject it entirely. REJECTION! I'm happy that the Joker himself said that this past maybe a momentary delusion that isn't true, 'cause honestly, no. No. This comic made me all grumbly and rumbly and that's sad. And in the end? BATMAN going bananas? No! And, if Batman did go bananas the Joker wouldn't be all, Oh shit, he'd be like, Joy! I win! I made him crack! So yeah. Bleck.

Batman: Year One

Cranks- (**** 4 stars out of 5) Frank Miller does an amazing job at taking Batmans' beginning and revamping it slightly while keeping the original story true to form. The art is amazing and the action sequences are second to none. Also the introductions of both Lieutenant (at the time) Gordon and Selina Kyle (Catwoman) are interesting and illuminating . All in all it is a wonderful comic and does a great job at showing the darkness and corruption of Gotham, and a Batman who is young and still trying to figure out what the hell he is doing without getting himself killed in the process. Bravo!

M- (**** 4 stars out of 5) Basically everything Cranks said. This one didn't get me as excited and pumped as the others I've read, but it's still good. Definitely a good introduction. And rar catwoman was sexy! I wish he didn't make her a whore though... apparently other comics later down the line say she was just pretending to be a whore to get info for heists... I like to imagine that was the case. You see... I love her so.

The Long Halloween

Cranks- (***** 5 out of 5) This is amazing! Amazing. The art and story is wonderful and so are the page layouts. It's suspenseful and has guest appearances by almost all of the amazing villains. The chapters with Catwoman and The Joker are especially amusing and entertaining. Harvey Dent pays a major roll in this and you end up getting great insight into his character. It's also filled with amazing plot twists and an ending that surprised even me. Stellar!

The Dark Knight Returns

M- (***** 5 and a half out of 5 stars. Woulda gotten 6 if he hadn't done that to catwoman) AHHH! I feel like... my brain has like.... sky dived into a roller coaster that spun off of its tracks into a water fall, where it qualified as a log flume, off of which I slipped into the ocean and rode high speed dolphin robots to the land of high intensity dance parties... Man, I laughed hysterically, I silently roared at awesome times and cried like no body's business reading this here comic. God, I wish my boyfriend was here. I'm pumped, and I can't think of a better way to burn off this hyper happy energy then sexy times, my friends! THIS COMIC WAS AWESOME. And I'm sorry to have freaked you out!

Hush: Volume 1

Cranks- (**** 4 out of 5) Jeph Loeb is a god, and I swear every time I read his stuff the godly powers that spill forth melt my brain. His writing is amazing!!!!! Hush is intense, sad, and fun at the same time. I laughed out loud like three times and dance joyfully at one point during the course of reading the first volume.  Jim Lee......also a god! The art was beautiful. The story its self was good and with a visit to Metropolis and the appearance of the beloved "Man of Steel" it couldn't get much better. So happy!

Hush: Volume 2

Cranks- (**** 4 out of 5) Basically everything I said for Volume 1. I was slightly confused with the back story of the final villan, but other then it was great. The art and colors are amazing. I even put aside my usual dislike for Robin in this one and enjoyed the appearances made by the Boy Wonder (Tim Drake aka Robin # 3). The whole point of these two volumes is friendship and trust and it was really touching to see Batman interact with Barbara Gordon (Oracle) and Dick Grayson (Nightwing). It was sad, hopeful, and heart wrenching all at once. I LOVED it.

Batman: Haunted Knight

Cranks- (*** 3 out of 5) Again Jeph Loed puts forth a great couple of stories and Tim Sales does an amazing job giving them artistic life. This comic really doesn't follow any defind plot so thats why it gets the three stars. Rather, it is a collection of Halloween tales involving our beloved Dark Knight and several of his entertaining nemeses. A good read for the halloween season.

Do you love THE GODDAMN BATMAN?

2008-07-29 [The Matter of Splatter]: Hmmm this is going to be a trendcult travesty. I am willing to bet almost anyone's comments on any of these wikis is going to be based on the modern media interpretation...which is unfortunate. Especially for people like me, who have hundreds of Batman comic books and a ton of spinoffs dating back to 1965. So good luck with this.

2008-07-29 [NOOOPE]: Didn't your mother ever tell you if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all?

Everyone has a right to like Batman for any reason. No need to get all snobby about it. If I wanted this to be for the Batman fan elite I would have made a private forum or something, so, erh, in the words of my sister quitch'er'bitchin'.

2008-07-29 [Crankychangeling]: Seriously. If Batman was only appreciated, loved, and read by the choice nerds of the world, then his awesomeness and comic would have ended. So you can thank those plebeians and their "modern media interpretations" because they are the ones keeping your Icon alive, even if it isn't up to your apparently all-knowing and elitist standards.

2008-09-07 [NOOOPE]: I need to buy these...
