The Ruins of the Silnim

Deep within the Black Fang mountain range, the ancient cities of the Dark Elves, the Silnim, remain. Built of local obsidian, the great cities were once elegant and beautiful, but time has ravaged these cities, and made them sinister to mortal eyes.

The Strongholds of the West

In the Age of Slavery and Revolt, the Silnim were stricken by the Orcish Plague, costing many lives, and resulting in the dwarven revolt against their masters, burning the mountain strongholds with Silnim still trapped inside. What didn't burn cracked under the intense heat of the fires, and little metal, wood, or paper survived in the entrances to the strongholds.

But the Strongholds themselves survived, as did the inner vaults, protecting whatever relics and other items the Silnim created within. Goblins are rife in the west, and few travellers have ventured inside the strongholds and returned to describe the ancient cities.
