"Got mine done," Nami declared proudly as she stapled her papers together. "How are you all doing?" she asked.
"I called my granny last night," Anka replied, "She told me what I needed to know. I'm just transferring my handwriting to text format," she said as she pitter-pattere
d on the keyboard, not taking her eyes off of the screen.
"I'm just looking for a good picture for my cover page," Lulu sounded bored as her mouse clicked.
"At least we've all got some luck," Nami said happily.
"Some luck..." Nagi growled as he continued pounding on the keys, glancing down at his notes every few seconds.
"What's wrong, dear?" Lulu asked as she tilted her head curiously toward Nagi.
"Too much family history..." Nagi huffed as he glared down at the notebook page that was scribbled on.
"All families are old," Anka said warmly.
"But do you have an entire notebook page filled with different countries, languages and religions that your ancestors were directly linked to?" his aggravation showed in his tone.
"Do you mind if I pry?" Nami cleared her throat as she approached Nagi.
"Go ahead, I need a break," he growled as he leaned on the two back legs of his chair. "I've already got arthritis," he said as he stared down at his sore hands and wrists.
"Carpal tunnel," Anka corrected him.
"Wow, Nagi..." Nami awed as she skimmed down his notes.
"What? Does he have extinct bloodlines?" Lulu asked curiously.
"Actually, yes," Nami whispered. "Aztec, Inca, Mayan, Almac, ancient Egyptian, Syrian, Persian, Cherokee..." she paused as she took a good look at Nagi, blushing a litttle, "Romany blood and language, too?"
"I don't even know what that is," Nagi admitted as he eased his eyes shut.
"It's pure blooded Gypsy," Anka muttered, as intrigued as Nami.
"Didn't some of them have magic practices?" Lulu asked as she clicked print on her computer.
"Actually, yes," Anka nodded.
"We're also talking Aramayic, Ugartic, Phonecian, Hurrian, Amorite, Moabite, Harappan, Trojan..." Nami paused, "And other old languages, some of them dead..."
"I bet I know who Nagi's ancestor from Troy was," Lulu grinned wryly.
"Haha," Nagi rolled his eyes.
"Hey, be happy somebody hot like Orlando Bloom played your ancestor," Lulu teased.
"And Eric Banna," Anka smirked.
"Oh, yes," Lulu fanned herself. "And Eric Banna," she smiled.
"Anyhow, there is also some Arian heritage like Swedish, German, French, English, Welsh, and we have Russian, Japanese and Inuit, with some Spanish, Cuban and Columbian..." Nami blinked a few times.
"So you are technically of the Zambos, the mixing of Amerindian and African; Mulattoes, the mixing of European and African; and Mestizos the mixing of European and Amerindian bloods," Lulu said thoughtfully.
"You know all that as common sense?" Anka questioned.
"Columbian housekeeper," Lulu reminded them.
"You, dear brother, are Heinz 57 to the 10th power," Anka sighed, shaking her head and patting Nagi's head affectionately.
"I have to ask how small your lists are," Nagi said, knowing he'd feel worse afterward.
"Irish, English, German, Scottish, Polish, Italian," Nami said with a shrug.
"Irish and Scottish," Lulu said with a smile. "I just come from Catholics, Jews and Protestants, but they all spoke English."
"All English here too, different branches of Christianity is all here. Pretty bland," Nami shrugged.
(Dee! Have fun with Anka's roots, and add anymore you see as appropriate to the others around here :D)
"I wish I were any of you but me..." Nagi sighed. "Considering my laptop doesn't have Microsoft Word on it and this is going to take me forever..."
"Nagi, how far down the page are you?" Nami whispered as she leaned down toward his screen.
"Almost to the bottom of this one," he replied. "Why?"
"Finish the page and print it out," Nami said softly in his ear.
"Huh?" he blushed as Nami set the notebook beside him, "I'm gonna help you. Just can't get caught cheating..."
"W-what?" Nagi stammered.
"Unless you don't want my help," Nami shrugged as she sat on the desk next to Nagi's mouse.
"She's taking inititive," Anka noted, half-amused.
"I think it was the Orlando/Eric talk," Lulu said with a grin.
