Brave yet without guilt...
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful, gorgeous land, still in the age of castles and princesses. There, the days went by like in any other: The sun rising and setting, and meanwhile, many things happened, many adventurous things. But none was so exceptional as that one day, on which the sun was rising into a rather misty morning. It seemed quite plain as any other, but for one thing. A bird sat on the edge of a cliff, watching over the valley. On the other side, lay a castle, quite hidden in the damp air of mist. But a light shone over it, and the bird too might have noticed, that something was about to happen.
In an old farm house, far away from the misty land, lived a little boy and girl. As brother and sister, they of course had times to argue, but also to play. They lived there together with their aunt and uncle, for their parents had died when they were still far younger. Every day passed as another. Until that one fateful day when the old bell on the door rang. The boy hurried to open it, but there was a sight which he had never seen before. In front of him, on the doorstep under the pouring rain, stood a little, pointy-hatted dwarf.

His green eyes were sad, and that looked so wrong... His face used to joy and smiling was now consumed by the shadows of sadness and fear. And all those shadows were somewhat connected to the mist that was rising from the earth and from the forest. Each and every passing moment was like a damp breath of the nature. This feeling came down on the boy when he opened that door. And it was like a huge burden for him. He was feeling it deep in his soul... and he was feeling the sadness of the dwarf too. And that stroke him most...not the image of the dwarf... Because this dwarf did not come alone to his door... he brought the entire nature with him.
“May I help you Sir?” the boy asked with a trembling voice.
“I surely hope so, my lad”. The dwarf's voice kept something from the times of joy and happiness. It was neither thin nor thick... like a caress of the wind in a summer day.
“Times of sorrow are upon us, lad. Times when the nightingales stop their night songs and when shadows make the days heavy on out shoulders. And only the a pure heart of a manlike being will get the nature back on it's old way. But may I enter? There are things that should not be spoken outdoors. Even though the trees and the birds are our friends there are some wicked creatures in the woods now”
“Enter wise dwarf. Don't mind my little sister. She is so playful this morning. And our aunt and uncle left to the town to sell the honey. They will be back till dusk...but until then we are alone”
“You have a good heart my boy. I know what tragedy happened to you and your sister when you were just babies.” said the dwarf entering the humble cottage.
“You know? You knew my mum? And my pap?” the boy asked with shining eyes. “Tell me how they were. My auntie told me that...” The words were coming out so quickly that it was hard to understand them.
“Shush now, lad... there is no reason to be hasty. I know everything because i was there when it happened. And they were good folks. Simple but smart, poor but true to their hearts. They were in fact as noble in their feelings as any knight from the castle. But what evil is upon us today killed them too. We kept it in silence hoping that their sacrifice was enough to stop the castle wizard in his way to doom. Oh he was once a such a great man, the wizard. Proud and shiny, ready to confront the evil wherever he found it. But now he became the very thing he hated so much. And 10 years ago he was trying to kill the protective spirit of the ancient forest we all live in. But your father, who was a woodcutter was working nearby. And it happened at the noon time. Your mother just came with the lunch. And in that moment of silence when they were eating the powerful noises of the fight disturbed the nature's harmony. We were all there, the creatures of the forest... but we were hiding... Our will and powers were so insignificant in that battle. But the might of our ancient protective spirit were vanishing under the powerful curses of the wizard. He who once stood in face of the same curses...was using them to bring the doom upon us. But your father saw all that and he felt in the deep of his heart that the dark forces were winning that battle. So he threw his axe at the wizard... and it was the blow that turned the tide. ”
The boy stood firm all this time. He listened without a sound, barely breathing. And he felt in him the same courage and virtue his father was blessed with. He felt like he was more than a 13 years kid... that he was ready for an adventure bigger than life itself.
“But an axe isn't enough to kill such a mighty wizard. His last curse in that day killed your mother and father. And he ran behind the castle walls, where there is no tree and no grass. And there he gained his forces back in 10 long years. But now his curse fall upon the sun itself. Its light has no more power, and the trees cry hungry after the yellow light. Only you and your sister can stop this. Your father was the undoing element last time... and only his blood will stop him again”
“What must i do?” asked the boy with a brave voice. Unbelievable arouse in him... coming from a past unknown for him. His hand grabbed the shoulder of his little sister, whose eyes were filled still with tears from the story about their parents. But she too understood that there was something for them to do for their parents death not to be in vain.
“ Just come with me... I will tell when we are there”

Light... blinding light... but unholy and harmful light... that was what was coming from the castle. But only when u could see its walls. Because in the rest of the time a mist, first white, than darker was covering the sun and its blessings. On the way to the castle, they were able to se that the leaves from the trees were falling... It was like the autumn was here... in the middle of the spring.
“We, the creatures of magic, we have no power against this awful sorcery. But you children are living beings who live outside the magic limits. And your pure heart can undo all this harm. Just go to the castle. You will now what to do... I can go no further”
The boy took his little sister's hand in his hand and started walking. As they approached the castle the glowing light become more powerful, but where the kids were, everything was normal. They entered the castle undisturbed. There were no guards... no animals no wind... just that light... blinding everything around them. And when they reached the place where the wizard was doing his evil work they stopped. The wizard looked at them surprised. He felt anger... at first... But the children looked him both with their big teary eyes. And he could see through their hearts... He saw then their sorrow when they heard about their parents... and he saw how his quest for ultimate power made him walk an evil road. And he stopped... fall to his knees... and understood that no matter how small we are, the truth and the pure heart will make us be what we are supposed to be. That no man should have to much for himself, as he tried to have the entire forest and its beings as his subjects. That he was, because of his sins so much less that those children facing him... brave yet without guilt...
