Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel Review

Not too long ago, I was gifted with a ton of Palz figures from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” television show. I’m a pretty huge fan of all things “Buffy,” and I do collect the “Buffy” action figures with great articulation, but the Palz figures just don’t impress me. Not to say that the Palz figures weren’t a thoughtful gift (and, I’m sure, an expensive one at that given as I now own so many of them!), but the sculpts just don’t do it for me. I much prefer my action figures to have more accurate “figures” and less of blockish bodies. That said, one of the better Palz figures is the Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel.

Having just gotten the entire series of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” on DVD for my birthday, my husband and I have been watching it diligently, and are now nearing the end of Season Three. So far in the series, Angel has played a pretty big role in the show as Buffy’s Vampire “boyfriend.”

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel figure is about two inches tall and very blockish; the Palz figures are similar in style to Minimates, though the Palz do tend to have decent articulation for what they are. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel is a decent one as it has two faces (one on either side of his head) and midsections and limbs that can be changed out for another to give Angel a different look.

There are a few different “outfits” that Angel can be featured in at any time, including a white shirt, said shirt with his “leather” jacket, completely shirtless and more. Along with these “outfits,” Angel also comes with the tombstone that comes standard with each of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz figures, as well as the Inkworks card. Aside from these, Angel comes with no extra accessories, though I suppose that in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” he is rarely featured with any weapons or things that could be considered accessories.

As far as the figure goes, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel isn’t exactly terrible, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it “great” or even “good.” The fact that none of the Palz figures have noses is a pretty big downfall in my book, and despite the fact that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz Angel can go from “human”-face to vampire face with ease and comes with a complete wardrobe change doesn’t make it interesting enough to make up for the fact that Angel comes with zero cool accessories.

However, for collectors of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz figures, the Angel Palz figure is pretty much a necessity for completing the set, after all, where would Buffy be without him? I don’t like the Angel Palz figure any better than I like any of the other Buffy the Vampire Slayer PALz figures, so this is a big “not recommend.”
