Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment Review

I don’t know exactly when it was that I became addicted to Burt’s Bees products, but it happened regardless. About a year ago, I went through a phase where I HAD to have everything Burt’s Bees, and it was during that phase that I was given a few tins of Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment. 

When I first looked at my tins of Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment, I wasn’t sure what they were supposed to do. The name made it sound as though it was medicinal, and it smelled pretty foul, so I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to apply it. I ended up having to look online to figure it out, and that was where I learned that Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment is intended to heal dry, cracked lips and skin. 

Packaged in a 0.6 ounce tin that easily fits into one’s pocket, purse, or night-stand drawer, Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment is easy to open by simply twisting and pulling the top off of the tin. Once inside, one may access the green, waxy product within. This waxy Ointment may be scooped out of the tin with one’s finger, or else one may simply rub their finger over the waxy product until enough of the product has rubbed onto one’s finger to be used on one’s skin. 

While Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment doesn’t smell at all medicinal, it does still smell pretty bad. I tried using the product on my lips and couldn’t help but to gag; the smell was incredibly strong and offensive, and the taste was equally horrific. Additionally, Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment leaves a thin layer of grease on one’s lips and skin after applied, which isn’t as bad as a waxy film, but it’s still not the greatest feeling one wants around their mouth.  

I can’t say that Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment helped my lips to heal at all. When I first used this product, it was winter, and my lips were quite chapped and dry from me being outdoors so often. Even after weeks of using only this product on my lips, the condition of my lips did not improve. Only after I began using an actual medicated lip balm did my lips begin to heal at all. Therefore, I can’t say that this product really heals anything. It may work as a preventative, or not, but I’m really not sure. 

I don’t recommend this product at all. Not only does Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment smell terrible and taste gross, but it also doesn’t do anything at all, that is, besides leave a film of grease on one’s skin and/ or lips after applying it. Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment is a huge waste of money and is a big letdown for the product line.
