CAPTAIN RHOD VICING

Description: Five foot ten inches, dark brown hair shaved close to his head and hazel eyes. His form is stocky for his size, not overly muscled; to be honest he’s not exactly the stereotypical leader or authority figure. There’s a slight red hint in his left eye where the mechanical upgrade is.

Personality: Due to his little time as an actual Commander, Rhod is uneasy with his position of control over others; this means his “commands” usually come out sounding like requests. This doesn’t stop him from making hard decisions however, in fact it was one of the reasons he’d been chosen for the position.

Species Traits: Direct link with the ship’s main computer, while not improving strength or even intelligence it allows the computer to converse constantly with Rhod. Or than that, pure human.

History: Born into a traditional army family, Rhod Vicing went to the traditional applications of "space cadets" and "summer boot camp", though with little provocation he will admit this was mostly to quieten his mother, who was an officer on the front lines. He was concieved when his mother was on leave at home, then she shipped out without realising she was pregnant, so Rhod sometimes jokes about the fact he has seen action before he was even born. Commander Rhod didn’t start out as “captain” to begin with, in fact he was a rather last minute choice as to who to promote in time to get the ship he now controls out of the blast radius. The previous supposed Captain met an untimely end when a mob of people decided to enjoy themselves beyond normal behaviour and laws; this left a rather vital hole that had to be filled quickly. That’s where Rhod Vicing was picked up, at the time only a young Lieutenant in the United Federation of Species; being one of the few members to actually have taken the simulation of escaping the blast and doing it successfully he was on a short list. Promoted, dragged out of his comfy place on his own ship and forced into a high risk job he’s had a feeling of overwhelming responsibility ever since he first connected to the ship computer.

Other: Can get rather short tempered with the computer, especially when placed under stress of his job. Really all it comes back to is him yelling at himself, which cause people who don’t know who he is to consider him crazy. He does not like the fact he got the position through "dead man's boots" so to speak.

Hobbies/Pets: Chess, though the computer tries to interrupt him as he plans moves.
