Chapter 8- Shopping Catastrophe (Part1)

Riley’s Point of View (POV)

Our hysterics had stopped when the guys finally sat us down. However, when everyone started to talk about braking up into groups or pairs my heart dropped, and not just because I was scared I’d get paired with Pierce. I looked over to Elliot and saw she was daydreaming again, not that it was unusual for her, but her thoughts usual consist of flying monkeys and dewdrops.

“I have an idea.” I turned to look at Will to hear his brilliant plan. “I can to have a fun and relaxing time so those who are melancholy, joy killer, emotional bombs go off in one group, while the rest go off in another.” I gave him my most farce glares.

No way in hell you lazy bums.” Elliot said. “I vote that we stay together.” No one seemed to like that idea, due to the amount of complaining. As the chaos in sued I felt a tug on my arm. I looked to see Pierce’s hand encircled around my arm.

“Come on let’s get out of here, they can argue all day.” I hesitated out of fear and the thought of leaving Elliot alone. However, when Pierce saw noticed my reluctance I saw annoyance flicker across his face, then he tightened his grip on my arm and dragged me away from everyone. Sadly no one noticed our departure. “I’m not going to eat you, so stop acting like a shy, doe eyed deer,” now I heard the annoyance in his voice.

“Sorry.” I squeaked out.

“Damn it Riley stop acting like I’m death himself.” Pierce demanded, while continually to drag me around the mall.

“Pierce your hurting me.” I said, my wrist felt like it had been smashed in a door.

“What?”

“Pierce my wrist.” He let go, then ran his fingers through his hair. We had stopped in front of a Game Stop, where a group of guys were
attempting to beat each other in DDR.

“Lame.” I said as an entire combo was missed.

“What the hell did you just say.” Pierce said through clenched teeth. I pointed towards the group, keeping my moth shut. He his whirled around to look at the DDR machine. I was in luck to, the same guy missed another easy combo. “Well that is kind of lame.” I shook my head vigorously. “Wait is that Julian?”

“Huh?” I looked back over and one of the guy’s surrounding the DDR machine was Julian, Max’s brother. “Yay it is. What is he doing here? Max said he was at school in California.”

“Obviously he had a change in plans.” Pierce said bitterly. However, I had a stroke of ingenious.

“I’ll be right back.”

“Riley what do you think your doing?”

“If Elliot felt that she couldn’t come to me with something the only person she would have turned to instead was Julian. I don’t know what happened between Elliot and Max, but Julian would have the answer. I know you two don’t get along, but right now Julian can answer my questions.”

“I’ll let you go on one condition.”

“What?”

“Go on a date with me.” Pierce had a smirk on his face, he knew he had me cornered. I looked back over, the group of guys were about to leave, causing my window of opportunity to be small.

“Fine.” He let go of my waist. He had pulled me close to keep me from rushing off.

“Julian!” I yelled as I walked over to him and his friends as they were leaving the store. When he turned to face me I slowed my pace and walked up to him. Pierce was moseying his way over at the speed of a sloth.

“Hey Riley.” He smiled, but it faltered when he saw Pierce. “Pierce.”

“Julian.” Pierce said tolerantly.

“Julian I could really use your help.” I said, which caused him to look down on me Every one seem to tower over me.

“What could I help you with Riley?” He asked.

“Max and Elliot.” His face contorted into anger, anger I had never seen on his face before. “Julian?”

“Elliot doesn’t know your talking to me does she?” He asked, temper in his voice.

“No, she doesn’t, but you know what she’s not telling me don’t you?” I said. I needed to know what was going on. Max and Elliot were my two best friends, if they have a problem with each other I need to know why. “Please Julian just tell me what it is.”

“Why don’t you ask my lame, egotistical, loser of a brother of mine. Wait you shouldn’t he might make you cry too.” Julian was working himself up, and I still didn’t know the reason why. I grabbed the front of his shirt, drawing him towards me.

“Julian you can have your pity slash hate part for Max latter, but right now I need you to tell me why Max made Elliot cry.” As I said this I looked him straight into his hazel eyes. “Please!”

“Julian have you ever heard Riley beg before?” Pierce said, causing Julian to shift his attention towards Pierce from me. “Because if you have, then you would know it gets to a point were she is on her hands and knees, hugging your legs. It’s embarrassing in a public place. Trust me, I would know do to experience.”

“Hey I only did that once because you took my money and then wouldn’t buy me chocolate.” I complained. It wasn’t my fault he didn’t believe chocolate was a good investment. I saw Julian lips quirk, which made me realize Pierce’s goal, to get Julian to calm down.

“Why don’t we go buy some ice cream in the food court, while I explain what happen.” Julian said.

“That sounds great to me.” I said, I’d do anything for ice cream; however, as we started to head down to the creamy goodness Julian was attacked by a flying blue blur.

“Julian what the hell do you think you are doing and why aren’t you in California were you belong?” Max roared, as he pinned Julian to the wall.
