Chapter Two: Value

Values are wonderful things to have and Betty prided herself in keeping true to her own sense of them. The neighborhood she lived in seemed to be disparaging though, and that always made her sad. But, Betty had made a habit of keeping to herself and never interfered in the lives of others. They were all free to live as they pleased.

This used to be a beautiful community, but now Betty feared it was getting close to the time for her to move on. She wasn’t as happy as she used to be. Quite frankly, she was depressed, and every morning, she would try to make herself forget about all of her troubles by taking a little walk.

“Maybe something is wrong with me….No, no. I mustn’t think that. “

She didn’t know what would happen if she ever completely succumbed to her depression. She just knew she wouldn’t allow it. That is part of her fighting strength, it’s the values you hold yourself to as much as the character you show the world.

The mud along the lane seemed as though it was starting to firm up. Betty walked with more ease, and a big tension lifted right off of her brow. Funny how that happens, the right road taken was all Betty needed the most.
