Chapter Two
Insomniac Lane

There is was, across the school grounds was the after school bus. Nothing was standing between Paul and the bus. Just his curiosity. Was any of this real? It felt like it but he wasn't to sure. Still he had made a promise to the little girl. He couldn't stand breaking her heart. Something about her was so innocent. He had to help her no matter what.
So he made up his mind to get on that bus and on get off until it stopped at this destination. His bravery did waver a bit when he got on. The site of the people weren't his kinda of group. He just sat down and read his library book. But the more he read, the more his eyes began to droop. As much as he tired to stay awake he finally gave into the urge of sleep.
So there was Paul. Sitting in hammock, mumbling about how bored he was.
“Hey you!” said a voice.
“Who me?”
“Yes you! Are you bored?”
“Bored as baby dancing on bubbles in the desert!” Was the answer.
“You need dancing chickens!” the voice said. “Meet Chubby, Flubby and Jim!”
A huge box can out of nowhere that was labeled ‘Dancing Chickens!'. Sure enough the chickens came out and began to dance.
“This is awesome!” Paul said. “I love my dancing chickens!”
“Hey kid!” the voice said. “Kid. Kidddddddddddddddd------------------------

“Hey kid! Is this your stop?” The bus driver was shaking him.
Paul awoke with a flinch. He looked outside to see a sign that read 186 Insomnia Lane. Paul jumped off the bus and looked at where he was taken. This segment of the city was tremendously murky. The only lights were a broken street light and lighting flashing in the back. He felt a raindrop fall onto his head. Not wanting to be left in the rain, he begin towards the building in front of him. As he walked, he noticed a garden that lay in ruins. The only two things that were still whole were two stone lions. Paul laws starting to regret his promise to the little girl. He would have turned back but the bus was long gone and he had no money for a taxi. So he was stuck.
CRACK!
“Yike!” Paul screamed when he heard a loud noise. He looked under his feet to see a timber, cracking billboard. He picked it up and could just make out the old, fading reading.

Insomnia Asylum
“Wait, this place has been closed for years.” He said to himself. He looked ahead to see a building, fully restored with white marble. “This can't be right! Nothing has been going on here for years. Well I better call my parents.”
So he boldly continued on his journey towards the long lost, Asylum. When he reached it, he opened the door to find a sitting room. But there was something strange about this sitting room. Thinking he better call his parents, he approached the nurse at the desk.
“Excuse me miss.” he said. She turned around suddenly with a huge, bright smile that remind him of a Barbie doll.
“Welcome happy customer! What can I do-do-d-d-d-do-do for you?”
“Are you okay?” Paul backed away.
“Yes sir! I'm fine-fine-f-f-f-f-fine! Why do you as-ask?”
“Well I was wondering if you could maybe give me a our? I'm------er------doing a report on what I want to do when I grown up.”
“Why S-s-s-su-su-su-re! Follow me!” The nurse stood up but when she did Paul backed away even farther. Her body seemed to be on backwards.
“Miss,” He stammered. “Your body is one backwards I think.”
“Oh!” Paul was surprised that she sounded unsurprised. “I must have put it on wrong-wrong-wr-wr-wrong this morning!” She held her head and turned it around. “Much better! Follow me!”
“Something tells me I'm going to regret this!” Paul sighed.

He followed the nurse down the freezing hallways. The walls were perfect and unscratched. The floor was flawlessly clean, shinning as the light reflected off it. He looked around to see other nurses just like the one he was following. All smiling, all a bit to happy. Nice pressed outfits, not to big or not to small. The female nurse's make-up were completely perfect. Not a single smudged bit of lipstick.
“These are the rooms where we keep our patients.” She showed him.
Paul stood on tiptoe to peek into the room and what he saw shocked him! It was the little girl but she wasn't wearing her little nurse outfit. She seem to be in a deep sleep. Her fair was monochrome and her hair was tangled.
“Why is she here?” he asked her.
“Oh her? She here because she's crazy like all of the others!”
“She doesn't look crazy.” He was quiet right. She was sleepy reasonably peacefully.
“Looks are be-be-e-e-e-e deceiving.” She replied. “Let us move on.”
Paul managed to look at all the other prisoners in there little rooms; he was starting to get worried. They all looked very normal to him yet this women told him they were crazy.
“Here you are,” Paul looked up at two huge black doors with two demented looking fairies. He shuddered. “Let us go in.”
“Lets!” mumbled Paul.
The inside of the room was colored with a dark violet hue. The curtains were sparkling, the mirrors were crested with gems, the floor was purple and black tiling. The nurse sat him down on a soft couch in front of a desk. The chair behind the desk slowly turned around to reveal an extremely beautiful women but something told Paul she wasn't one to be trusted.
“Well hello young man.” she said.
“Hello.”
“Would you like some candy?” she asked as she pulled a huge bowl to her side. Paul shrugged and ate some. It was heavenly. “You like that don't you?” he nodded. “Have some more.” Paul didn't notice that he was being utterly rude but the women didn't mind. “You know what an Asylum is right?”
“Yeah,” he managed to say with his mouth full. “It's a place where they keep nutcases.”
She laughed in spite of his answer. “That right Pauly, we keep the crazies here.”
“Wait,” Paul stopped stuffing his face. “How did you find out my name?”
“I know a lot things Pauly,” She said eerily. She was suddenly out from behind her desk and right in his face. “I'm all knowing. I know where you live, I know about your school, I know where you live.” Her smile vanished. “I know why you're here.”
Paul threw the bowl right into her face which sent her into a fit of rage. He stumbled and fell onto the ground; he soon regain control over his feet. He ran towards the door, passing the creepy nurse.
“Good-bye! C-c-c-ome-ome-come soon!”
“You idiot! Get him!” ordered the lady. She grabbed a sliver microphone that lay on her desk. “Attention all Nurse Dolls! We have a dreamer! I repeat, we have a dreamer! Find him and make sure he doesn't find the helmet.”
Paul ran as fast as his legs would take him. He kept out of sight from the nurse dolls. Finally, Paul was out of breath. He had to take a break. He stumbled blindly into a room where he saw a nice, supple, fair couch. He yawned and plopped down. He yawned, nearly closing his eyes when he saw it. A violet helmet right next to him on a bedside table. He looked over his shoulder; no one was there so he decided to try to on. The helmet fit him perfectly. Deciding that the like the head covering, he began to lay down with the helmet on his head. He soon fell asleep, not knowing where he was going to wake up.
