The classroom was a standard sort, a few tables and chairs, a board, and a desk with a computer. On the other side of the room however, there was a thick wall, with a small gap to the side to enter. Beyond the wall was a small area filled with costumes on rails, not unlike a theatre's changing room. Sat by the computer was a young man, his feet propped up on a chair, obviously pulled from a nearby table, which was jutting outward awkwardly as a result.

Matt knew he was late but he was still taking his time getting to the classroom for his session with his tutor, if he was gonna do anything it would be at a leisurely pace, no point in doing anything too fast. He entered the classroom, on the up and up he looked fairly normal even by random passerby standards for his age. Coming in, his dirty blonde hair was standing on ends as if he had just gotten out of bed not bothering, with a pair of simple oval glasses slipped a little down his nose, not interfering with the color of his deep forest green eyes. He wore a simple black t-shirt that was a little baggy for his slim figure but it wasn't overly so, simple blue jeans with a hole in his right knee with white frays and it ended with a black and white DC skate shoes. He smiled and waved, "Yeah sorry I'm late I kinda got side tracked."

"A-what now?" Haeru had been slowly falling asleep while reading a book, when the voice from behind startled him, almost causing a most unceremonious fall. He turned to look at him, cobalt eyes staring at his new student with interest. "Sorry, I dozed off a little, no worries about tardiness, you gave me more time in that lovely dream." He rubbed his eyes quickly, still in a minor daze. "You must be..." Quickly scurrying on the organised chaos that is his desk, he found a piece of paper. "Matt, am I right?" Standing, he stretched himself out, opening the hood of his t-shirt, allowing his brown hair to drop to his shoulders. "So, you're here for the basics? Let's see what you can do!" He went to open a drawer, before stopping. "Wait a sec, how rude of me. The name's Haeru, kinda like 'Hi-Roo', but if you want, I'll go by Sir, or whatever you want that's not an insult. When it comes to stories, or RolePlays, I'll go for most things, but I have a thing for fantasy, or superpowers. What's your style?" He suddenly realised he might be bombarding Matt with a heck of a lot at once, and grimaced, scratching the back of his neck in tension. "Sorry, I'm sort of going hell-for-leather, just trying to work you out is all."

Matt stared for a second, a little wide eyed. "Chill dude, no need for rushing, or you know stuff like that." he said calmly and sat down in a chair, reclined a bit back, took a deep breath, reached in his pocket and pulled a lighter and some cigarettes. "Hey you mind if I..." he let the sentence hang in the air unspoken. He wasn't particulary proud of his habit, but it happened to calm him down especially when meeting new people. He didn't know much about the guy, but he seemed eager to teach and that was just fine and dandy to him. Matt looked passingly at the seemingly chaotic disorder of his desk and gave a small chuckle under his breath, he did the same damn thing in places, chaos everywhere but somehow still found the thing he was looking for.

"Sorry, kinda new at this teaching thing." Haeru was very tense, this much was apparent, he hoped he'd calm down soon. At the sight of cigarettes, Haeru grimaced. "If I'm honest, I'd rather you didn't, but if you must, keep to the windows." Haeru wasn't the biggest fan of smoking, but understood why some people did. He just rather preferred breathing. "Anyway, with regards to the lesson, what kind of style of writing appeals to you?"

Matt nodded and stood up, walking over to the wind open he cracked it open and sat against the wall slouching. With practised ease lit up a cigarrete as the nicotine filled his mouth he was not exactly pleased with the taste, it was never truly a good one. The effect was immediate as his arms; that were apparently hunched with some unknown burden, dropped an inch or two and then slumped as he relaxed visibly. He blew out a straight line of smoke up and out the window. The grey wisps apparently taking away with them his weariness. He looked up at the ceiling and then looked over at Haeru and shrugged. "Well honestly? I'm new to town and have no idea what kind of style of writing I use...I've usually wrote things down with another person 1 on 1 you know. So I've never had a lot of people in one roleplay...not to mention I still haven't found a roleplay I could enroll in you know...so maybe you could push me in the right direction."

"Well, we all start somewhere." Haeru had a smile on his face. Matt talking of his one-on-one roleplays reminded Haeru of how he got into roleplaying, using an instant messenger with a friend, and how chaotic those games were. "I will admit, in many cases, I ended up in roleplays due to friends, and normally ones I know outside of this place." He'd frequently go to a friend's house and hear of a RP beginning, and if he was interested. "But, there's just one thing. You've now got a friend who can, as you say, point you in the right direction." But what was the right direction for Matt? Haeru scratched his chin in thought. "Right, so you're unsure of a style of roleplaying as of yet, so I'll give you a little task. Create a character suitable for a...oh, why not, a traditional fantasy game. I don't mind what kind of race you pick, orc, human, elf, anything that fits, even a kobold." With that, Haeru rushed to his computer, rapidly typed out a form, and handed it to Matt. "Here's your Fantasy RP Character Sheet. Just fill in the blanks, and ask me any questions you have."

Looking down at his student writing away put a smile to Haeru's face. Seeing a lengthy pause, he took the paper in hand. "A few spelling mistakes, nothing too bad, but they were a little frequent if I'm honest. I'll just sort them out." He scribbled a little bit over the paper, just to correct some wording., before realising the name and birthplace. "Riddleport Riddley? If that's intentional, perhaps put it into history, otherwise it may sound a bit weird, no biggie. As for DMs and levels and such, in 99% of RPs, well, everyone I've been in, the rule of thumb is, don't overuse powers, you can heal and heal and heal, or smite, etc. but it'll wear you out eventually." Haeru understood why he had put it down, not thinking him for a Dungeons and Dragons player, but it was true, while there possibly were RPers using those ideas, he'd yet to have seen one yet. Looking at the racial abilities section, he almost let out a slight chuckle. "Humans tend not to have racials, aside from occasionally diplomacy, if that even counts, so no worries there." One empty space gave Haeru great pause. "I'm surprised you left Example Intro empty, as I might say you've set up a lovely scenario on your own in your history section, so...Run with it, I dunno, maybe an evil guy is trying to kill gods, and you go to stop him, but question the fact that he'd be killing the one who took your family, and yadda yadda. The idea behind this exercise wasn't just character creation, it was to get more ideas running through your head. I think it worked."

Matt sat down and leaned back a little in the chair and nodded taking what he could and keeping it mind. "Ok...hmmm well yes I play D&D, Pathfinder as well as Dark Heresy and Death Watch, so ideas are always going through my head concepts, powers, abilities, personality...etc. I have no lack of ideas and characters come easily for me...my big problem as you have noticed is my grammar...you know that saying right?" he said and tapped the desk a couple for a second in frustration trying to remember the correct phrase. As he figured it out he thumped the table hard. "Thats its! 'A chemist can figure how to make a bomb...but can't seem to do his taxes,' It's kinda along those lines you know, all talent but no finesse" He said and twirled the pencil in his hand idly. He looked up at the cieling thoughtfully and sighed. "I don't know..." he said and smiled "I guess the best way to do anything is trial by fire, though the issue as of the current moment is Where, not nessecarily the How."

Haeru hated to admit that he hadn't heard of a lot of what Matt had said before, from the other RPGs, to the saying. He kept his mouth shut, about that at least. "Finding your way, I'll admit, is hard. the best thing to do is find friends, and hope they point you in the right direction. And,don't forget, I'm here too, and I'm pretty sure being a teacher includes pointing students the right way." Suddenly, cogs started turning in his mind. "Of course, some people strive to forge their own path. Have you thought of making your own roleplays? If you make something interesting enough, I might be able to get some people to join. I will tell you however, it pays to be unique. Or alternatively, I may make my own roleplay soon, and you could join that. Or we both could make one! The possibilities!" At this point, Haeru chuckled loudly.

2011-07-10 [ZeoOfFire]: Urm, you can post by clicking the green edit button just above the comments, then you just type in whatever you want at the end of everyone else's words. I'll add your post in now, no worries.

2011-07-10 [ZeoOfFire]: Very nice post, a bloody long one, you're putting me to shame! (That post I just did is a rarity, but it's an intro, so what do you expect?:P
I'm assuming you're not a new RPer, because you're bloody good, so now I'll go straight to the post itself.

Corrections
his session with his tutor - likely a normal typo, t being next to r
it would be at a leisurely pace - missing i in leisurely
no point in doing anything too fast - to/two/too issue
Coming in, his dirty blonde hair was standing on ends - Lack of comma made it a little awkward to read
not bothering, with a pair of simple oval glasses slipped a little down his nose - Lack of comma again, also missed out a space
not interfering with the color - Incorrect double r in interfering

All in all, when it comes to the negatives, I see little problems, I see way worse than this all the time.
To lessen typos, or spelling errors in general, a good idea (though, like most of this, isn't essential, it can just help) is to, before you submit the post, copy and paste it into word, or any spellchecker.
With the flow of things, like the comma issues, read out your post, out loud or in your head, and any time you take the slightest pause, the comma is your friend. If anything, I probably overuse them, but meh! :P
Essentially remember this: "Let's eat Grandma!" "Let's eat, Grandma!" BIG Difference. :)
As for the to/two/too issue, I shouldn't say, but a LOT of people do the same, so I doubt many people will even notice.
Basically: Too = As well, or very. e.g. "Me too!" or "too much"/"I'm too tired"
Two = A number :P
To = Pretty much anywhere else.

Apologies if I sound mean for corrections, but I am a scrounger for it, and you did come to me! :P
