Warning: Gay male coupling

Kaelin’s sweet laughter rose into the air sharply as a fine white mist, dancing up into the star strewn air to disappear in a mysterious whisper of silence. He danced from one foot to the other, his hands clasped together while his eyes shot around excitedly. His light lavender robes couldn’t keep up with his constantly changing feet, and they swished back and forth around his legs dizzily.

“Oh, Yami! Look!” The Elf said, pointing. He was trembling from the excitement and smiling so wide Yami swore the Elf’s face must be hurting. “That’s Bella Inn!” The Monk continued. He squealed happily, “I use to go there all the time when I was little!”

“That’s nice, love.” Yami replied quietly, rolling his eyes for perhaps the hundredth time. The half-demon began to second guess his agreement to go see Kaelin’s childhood hometown. He had only agreed since he though that the scenery would involve less clothing and less walking.

Yami sighed, rolling his eyes again as Kaelin squealed out grabbing his arm and pointing eagerly. “That’s the Yawlen River! I fell in there once and almost drowned!” He laughed merrily at the thought. Yami turned to look up at him, one eyebrow raised.

“Is that really something to laugh about?” the half-demon asked, though he sounded amused.

“Oh,” Kaelin said, with a flick of his wrist. “That was many years ago. No need to be terrified of it now!” He laughed somewhat uneasily and sent a precarious glance at the churning water. Ice chunks floated down with the rivers current, giant, ominous, looming things they were. Kaelin’s cold fingers wormed their way under Yami’s sleeves to cling to his bare flesh.

“H-hey now!” Yami cried, trying to pull away. “That’s cold!”

Kaelin laughed, stooping over to kiss his husband on the lips gently. Yami flushed slightly, his lips turning into a pout as he glared. Kaelin kissed the half-demons nose and took the mans face between his hands and smile down at him.

“You’re so cute when you’re pouting, Yami.”

Yami muttered unintelligibly, then slapped away the others hands. “You’re cold, don’t touch me.”

Kaelin laughed, pushing back a shock of his long blonde hair behind his shoulders and with a smile he said, “Why don’t we go see the church?”

Yami groaned loudly, dropping his head. “I don’t want to.” He whined, shaking his mane of black hair with noticeable bitterness. “You know how everyone is…”

Kaelin put his fists on his hips and rolled his violet eyes giving a dramatic sigh. “If you were as atheistical as you claimed, you wouldn’t have married a Monk.”

Yami sighed again, stuffing his hands into the inside of the opposite sleeve and groaned, “It’s not the religion I despise, it’s the people!”

“You antisocial hypocrite.” Kaelin laughed.

“Optimistic youth.” Yami muttered back, burying his face into his overly large scarf that already threatened to drown him.

“Am I going to have to fight you the entire way to see Father Jericho?” Kaelin asked, leaning over with his fists on his hips.

Yami glared from under the massive crimson scarf, his crimson orbs contrasting sharply against his pale skin and black hair. Kaelin leaned forward, far down enough so their eyes were level.

“Yami…” The Monk started in a warning tone. Yami glared deeper, hiding further down beneath the scarf until only the very top of his eyes were left glaring unkindly. Kaelin leaned closer, planting a firm wet kiss onto the half-demons exposed forehead.

“Ugh!” Yami cried, falling back and wiping furiously at the cold wet spot with the back of his sleeve.

Kaelin took this chance to snatch the shorter mans wrist and pulled him along towards the church.

“Noo!” Yami cried, tugging and flailing. “You’ll never take me alive!”

“Oh, be quiet.” Kaelin said, marching with clarity, his iron like grip unyielding to the screaming half-demon. His eyes lit up at the sight of the towering, white-washed church. “Yay! I can see it!” Beside him Yami let out another wail of despair. “Oh, Yami, be quiet! You’ll alert the town guards!”

“And good riddance!” Yami said, tugging at the others surprisingly strong grip. The half demon drug his feet into the deep snow, leaving long sad depressions in the white snow. He hung his head. “Kaelin, you know how those Holy people are… They pull out the Holy Water and the ceremonial beads and start throwing things at me.” His face twisted into a look of sheer annoyance. “And I suppose you wont let me kill them-“

Kaelin tugged his arm sharply and the half-demon fell into the Elf.

“Mind your attitude, Yami.” Kaelin said sharply.

“Mind your manners!” Yami shot back, glaring at Kaelins’ hand around his probably bruising wrist.

Before the arguing couple knew it they were at the churches towering oak doors.

“Che, welcoming.” Yami noted sarcastically. He let his eyes roam up the twelve foot door that towered over his five foot frame. His eyebrow twitch noticeably, and Kaelin looked down at him then up at the arching door frame. He smiled and opened his mouth, but Yami cut him off coldly, “Not a word, Monk.”

Kaelin laughed and opened the door, dragging the reluctant half-demon with him.

Father Jericho turned to them, a smile on his face. “Why, what a pleasant surprise!” He said warmly greeting them. His tussled mousy brown hair fell around his face to his shoulders, and his kind hazel eyes welcomed them warmly. He and Kaelin exchanged a hug then the Priest stepped back, smiling still. “I’ve heard you’ve gone to become a full fledged Monk! Congratulations!”

“Thank you, Father.”

“And who is…” The Priest looked to Yami, and as usual, sensed his demonic aura. Yami yawned, crossing his arms and looking away.

“This is my husband, Yami.”

“H-husband?” The Priest asked, obviously started. He coughed and rubbed the back of his head, glancing down at Yami again. “Oh, I see. Well, congratulations again!”

“Thank you, Father.”

“Ah…” He stared at Yami for a moment longer then looked back to Kaelin. “How have you been, Brother?”

“Busy as you can probably tell!” Kaelin said, smiling widely and resting his hand onto Yami’s shoulder. Yami shrugged the others hand away and turned away with an annoyed snort. Kaelin glared at him. “Very busy.” Kaelin said, grabbing Yami scarf and pulling him over so he could bring him into a tight hug. Yami yelped and flailed.

“Let go of me, you unholy fiend!”

“You’re one to talk…” Kaelin said, chuckling and hugging the half-demon tightly. Finally Yami gave up with a sigh and fell back limply into the others arms. “I’m sorry, Father. Yami is quite a handful.”

“I imagine so…” The Priest said, laughing softly. “So what brings you back to Flanaria?”

“I wanted Yami to respect the simple life. No responsibilities for awhile…”

“Oh…?” Jericho asked, raising an eyebrow. “An important companion you have then?”

Kaelin laughed, nuzzling the top of Yami’s head. The little half-demon made an annoyed, pouting noise, his arms crossed over the top of Kaelin’s clinging arms, his face resting on his arms. “Yes, he’s quite important back home.”

“Hm…” Father Jericho smiled, folding his hands together in front of him and bowing slightly. “Well, anyways, know that you are welcome here at any time.”

Yami looked up at him, staring blankly.

“Both of you.” Jericho confirmed with a smile. “We do not turn our hearts away from any.”

“You see, that wasn’t so bad.” Kaelin said, swinging their interlaced hands happily. Yami made another annoyed noise, his other hand buried into his pocket seeking some kind of comforting warmth from the bitterly cold air. It had begun to snow, gentle white flakes drifted from the heavens like the fall leaves back home. Plentiful…and really not that sore of a sight for the usually pessimistic half-demon. “Beautiful, isn’t it?” Kaelin asked, noticing Yami’s far away look and soft smile as he stared up into the heavens.

“Nnh?” Yami looked up at the smiling Monk. “Oh…yeah. I guess.” Yami shrugged. “Seen better.”

Kaelin laughed out loud. “There is just no pleasing you, dear.”

Yami smirked, stepping closer to the Elf and resting his head on Kaelin’s shoulder. “A nice warm bed, in a nice warm house with a certain Elf would be enjoyable…” Yami said softly.

Kaelin’s smile widened and he let out another charming laugh. “I can arrange that.” he promised.
